Sully’s NRL Preview – Round 24 Posted on August 17, 2017August 17, 2017 | Posted by James Sullivan With 3 rounds left there are still 10 teams trying to fit into 8 places for a crack at the finals. Only 4 teams have won their last 3 in a row and they all play against each other this weekend. Oddly enough one of those matchups is 1st vs 16th! The Eels play host to the Titans at ANZ Stadium tonight and will be hopeful to bounce back after last week’s shock loss. Friday sees the in-form Rabbitohs hosting a struggling Warriors outfit and it looks a great chance for the Bunnies to add another 2 premiership points to their season tally. Then it’s off to Suncorp Stadium where the Brisbane Broncos take on a Dragons side travelling to a venue they haven’t won at since April 2009. The Knights have won 3 in a row but on Saturday they face the daunting task of challenging the premiership favourites the Melbourne Storm. Despite home ground advantage it looks a bit beyond Newcastle. The Roosters who welcome back Michael Gordon, clash with the West Tigers who should be brimming with confidence after a late victory last Sunday. Then it’s off to Townsville where the Cowboys, with the longest casualty list in the NRL (9 individual players), await the Sharks with James Maloney celebrating his 200th NRL Game. The “match of the round” is in Canberra on Sunday where the Raiders and Panthers clash. A loss for either team could see their season evaporate. The Bulldogs and Sea Eagles complete the round with the latter chasing a top 4 finish.
