Shortte’s Handful for Cannington Wednesday Posted on March 30, 2016March 30, 2016 | Posted by David Shortte David Shortte’s Preview Race 1 No. 7 WEST ON GAZ Slick beginner who was placed on debut at Mandurah over the 490 metres in 28.08 and won his Qualifying Trial at Mandurah in 27.81. On exposed form at Cannington to date on-speed runners are well suited and if Gaz can begin like he has at his two exposed runs to date he should go close to carving over and finding the top. Will be hard to run down from there. Will not be a Maiden for long. Race 5 No. 1 KRUGERRAND Highly promising young canine who has won 10 of his 14 career starts and was the fastest qualifier for this final after zipping around here last week in a best of night time of 29.83. Has come up with the perfect draw for this Puppy Classic final and while there are some very nice types in this event he has everything in his favour to prevail. Should go on his merry way. Race 7 No. 2 WEST ON JANET Proven winner who has prevailed at 4 of her 10 starts with a further 5 placings. Was a solid effort for second here last week when chasing home after the talented Emma Ejay Minion and should benefit greatly from her first look at the track. Enjoys an inside draw and should be able to push through into a prominent spot through the first corner. Will take some beating.
