Scott Embry’s Wednesday Pinjarra Preview Posted on April 8, 2025April 8, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BLACK ORA made an impression on debut at Northam when winning a 1000m maiden in style. After that she contested 2x midweek and 2x Saturday events including running minor placings to Earthstorm and Noahquintilly. First-up, no trial, small field (weak field) and looks to get all the favours. POINT ROCKS was some win on debut. No doubt Tom Wolfe would have preferred this race remain down the 1000m straight, but still, great win. JUST GIFTED has fired yet this prep. KUNAPIPI next. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – BLACK ORA WIN RACE 2 ALNAUD is getting very close to breaking through. Hard to have a great deal of confidence in these 2200m maidens, especially when the hardest to beat on paper is a 20 start 6 year old, but his recent runs have been solid and he likely rolls to the top and stays out of trouble. REEL SERENITY backs up off 6 days after parking wide and grinding away into ninth. Has always looked a stayer. NEAP TIDE is very one paced but will keep grinding. AGE OF GRACE gets blinkers and Pike and that will grab a lot of punters. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – ALNAUD WIN RACE 3 KERMELIA looks ready to win. She’s finished fourth behind Fayola Baby and subsequent winners Polyvanova and Aces To Win and then second behind subsequent winner Smart Energy. Drawn to settle closer in the run and get the feeling Scarpside will suit her. TRUE BLUE BONDI got the right run three deep cover on debut but wasn’t able to reel in handy maiden Highland Flair. Improves for the run and goes close. GINGER AND TONIC is knocking on the door and getting very close now. INVINCIBLE THIEF ran well in a C1 last start. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 10 – 12 Suggested Bet – KERMELIA WIN RACE 4 MANGIFERA tried to buck on debut and was sent back to trials. After that she had two runs when second down the straight behind Promising (since won a 3 year old 0MWLY) and then second to Deel Her In (since won a Challenge Stakes). Had a soft trial, drawn a gate and strikes a 1200m maiden without that much depth. Great opportunity. BANG FOR BUCK is drawn horribly but on Scarpside 3 deep cover is better than 3 back fence. Ran second in a 3 year old 0MWLY last prep. SOCIAL AFFAIR comes through a popular form reference race. HELLS CITI always thereabouts. Numbers: 11 – 3 – 14 – 1 Suggested Bet – MANGIFERA WIN RACE 5 ASTRO WORLD has her first start for new trainer Michael Grantham and as we saw last Thursday at Pinjarra with Great Emotion they’re fillies with upside who will be winning their fair share of races. 1200m short of her best but watch for her launching late. MISTER RAFFLES has all the gear changes known to man thrown at him to try and straighten him up. He’s got above average ability but he’s doing a lot wrong at the moment. Could win by 3, could end up 6 horses off the fence in the home straight. CLASSIC RULER was a great fresh run. I’M NIPOTE has some X-Factor. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – ASTRO WORLD WIN RACE 6 CLOSE AT HAND won for Chanel Cooper five starts ago – big plus, and since then has won a C5 1400 at Bunbury and finished 3L off Sail Session in a 60+ Graduation, a galloper who has now gone onto win back to back Listed 3 year old features. Three deep cover often the place to be at Scarpside and he should land there naturally. TALLANGATTA will be at the opposite end of proceedings. Should lead and give plenty of cheek. KIRALUI is likely box seat and will rely on Tallangatta rolling. TOURETTO has only won one race this prep, but it was huge. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – CLOSE AT HAND WIN RACE 7 DO IT RIGHT is racing really well for Jody McLaughlin. 2L off Blazing Emerald (subsequent winner) three back, 1L off Bambun Boy (subsequent Geraldton Cup winner) two back, and last start was only 4L off Filthy Habits, What A Prince and Here For Cheques in a 66+ at Ascot. Only query (and a genuine query) – does he stay? VENUS KING drops out of a JC Roberts and can lead rolling. MERCIAN HYMN was great last start when posted deep. ZERA BLUE has found form at Narrogin and this isn’t that much tougher. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – DO IT RIGHT WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,11 2,4,8 1,2,3,7,8 1,3,5,6,8 Market Market
