Scott Embry’s Wednesday Northam Preview Posted on October 5, 2021October 6, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LITTLE FLIRT won a C5 two starts ago beating Arnie’s Boy and Firemaker. Last time out was midfield in traffic in a muddlingly run race and never really looked comfortable and never got into her groove. Small field suits, compressed weight scale alleviates the weight concerns and should get her chance to pinch another in a very fruitful campaign. WAKAN TANKA was caught wide and working throughout in the same race. Hard horse to catch but looks a nice race for him on paper. KING CRUZER comes from a C1 up into a C5 and only gets 2kg weight relief. Still a work in progress, very raw. THE ESCORT has always gone well fresh and the stable is in form. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – LITTLE FLIRT WIN RACE 2 EGG WHITE backs up off 4 days from Kalgoorlie to Northam and looks to have struck a very thin C3 event. Won a lowly Belmont maiden, ran second to Surf Point in a C3 and then went around under $4 in a 60+ on Saturday. Back into his right grade, quick back-up, regular rider CJP back in the saddle and can settle off the speed here rather than leading them up like he did at Kal. Ticks plenty of boxes. BLAISZEN CAZAH was no match for him in the Surf Point C3 but looks like getting a chance to sit over the top of the speed in a moderately run race. Honest bread and butter winter stayer. TRADE MASTER brings alternate form stepping up sharply in trip. Unknown at the staying distance but looks like he’ll see it out. TAXI was well placed last start at Toodyay and got a confidence boost. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – EGG WHITE WIN RACE 3 ELECTRIC ROSE ran into a very sharp one last start in Treasured Star. When lining up the Cerise and White 2021 brigade it looks like Treasured Star and Arcadia Grace are the measuring stick. From the draw she has the tactical speed to sit over the top of the tempo and should be there a long way. UNCOMPROMISED matched motors with stablemate Delicate Babe when getting clear late in his trial. Let down impressively and showed a turn of acceleration. Yet another above average Bob Peters debutante. ABOVE THE PEG is well related and has shown good speed at trials. I’M NOT FOR SALE gets a soft run. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – ELECTRIC ROSE WIN RACE 4 REAL DANGER went under as an even money elect first-up. Better suited with an extra 100m and will be put into a stalking position forward of midfield with cover. Grant & Alana Williams usually leave some improvement in their horses fresh so expecting her to take beating here. SERVICEMAN was huge on debut and comes off a very quiet trial. Barrier hurts but has a turn of foot. The map is against him but looks to have ability. JUSTAMIDDY has done nothing wrong in three career outings and draws a barrier to settle close handy. SNIP OF GLORY gobbled them up at Belmont trials under a hold from Pat Carbery. Awkward gate to contend with but hard not to be impressed. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – REAL DANGER WIN RACE 5 PASSION PRINCE vs BAYZEL looks another edition of the Pike vs Parnham show. PASSION PRINCE was winding up nicely in behind heels at the trials and doing his best work late. Wonder whether 1100m is going to be on the short side for him but from the draw he shouldn’t have to concede them too far in running. BAYZEL has had a number of chances throughout her career but her best two runs have both been since joining Brian Kersley. Knocking on the door. HOIST THE COLOURS has toe and trialled up nicely for the new yard. OUR GIRL BORAM had legs going everywhere in the 400m jump out. Very new. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – PASSION PRINCE WIN RACE 6 WARLAGO is a complete throw at the stumps here. Beloved Star will be deep odds on and has shown a tendency to lay in badly under pressure so why not! 11 start maiden who has never run a place, but the recent runs not too bad. 6L off Simple Logic, Henchard and Sally Can Wait then 5L off Red Fifty Three, Miner Addiction, Rulelee and Justamiddy. Likely to be huge odds and not impossible of at least falling into a hole. BELOVED STAR still has a lot to learn. Likely to settle back last and be ~$1.30. Looks the winner on paper but there’s no fun to be had in tipping into her. LUMINARIES looks like he’ll need every inch of the 1400. LOOK HERE PUNK takes benefit from the debut outing. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 10 – 5 Suggested Bet – WARLAGO PLACE RACE 7 BLACK FANTASY vs MY FURY in a battle of the 3 year olds who look to have more upside and improvement than their older opponents, many who have been stuck in this grade for a long while. BLACK FANTASY went to a 3 year old plate last start after breaking his maiden and kept battling away when finishing fourth behind the undefeated Red Fifty Three as well as talented pair Let’sdeal and Probity. Looks as strong a form reference as you’ll see in a C1 and has the tactical speed to take full advantage of the gate. MY FURY was a different filly on top of the ground last start. She’ll be far shorter than Black Fantasy care of the W.Pike factor. TIBETAN BLACK can settle much closer here. ROGUE’S POINT is racing well for the new yard. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – BLACK FANTASY WIN RACE 8 SHOCK RESULT is a jump and run 1000m type. Trial was sharp and should hold the top. This is a wide open race where all 9 runners have some sort of winning claims and he’ll be in front of the others. With Fair Joy out early there’s slightly less pressure and he should be in front for a long way. FAMOUS JURNEY showed last start that he will be winning races. C1 in a C5 not my thing but ’s returned to racing in great order. AY TEE EMM is hit and miss but if you get him on the right day he has a big turn of acceleration which can put him into the race late. MISS QUOTED has no weight and if the gaps appear has a sharp turn of foot. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – SHOCK RESULT EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3,8 2,7 6,9 FD Market Market
