Scott Embry’s Wednesday Northam Preview Posted on October 7, 2025October 7, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MOONWALK made her debut as a 2 year old on a Saturday and split Too Darn Stormy and now 3x subsequent winner Playin’ It Sweet. Nothing went right at her second start when slightly slow out and then held up on multiple occasions in the home straight. Has since spelled, jumped well and controlled her trial and while I don’t think she’s a 1000m filly she should have enough class to get her through here. BONDI LIFESAVER made really good ground in his most recent barrier trial. As we saw a fortnight ago with Long Service Leaf, if you can make ground at Belmont trials you’re worth following. DANCEWITHME comes through a 3 horse trial where she could have won by 10L if Troy Turner let her go. PLAYA DEL SOL gets a soft run along the fence. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 4 – 11 Suggested Bet – MOONWALK WIN RACE 2 TABBA TABBA BOOM has done nothing wrong in three starts this campaign. Ran third (elevated to second) on debut to Xentaro, third to Fine Star and Win For Buster in a 3 year old 0MWLY second-up and then finished second to Chama beating home subsequent winner Spirited Strike in the process. Wide draw looks ugly initially but there’s no that much speed in this so expect that Joey Azzopardi sends her forward to find a spot. FILA MIA was cold (freezing) in betting first-up and was no match for Long Service Leaf and Conchettas Dream late. They’re two nice horses though and they smashed the clock. Big respect. MALAGARASI was building nicely into his 950m trial and will get ground. DIAMOND WARRIOR is still raw and green but has ability. No shades in his trial. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – TABBA TABBA BOOM EACHWAY RACE 3 LAST MILE is going to divide opinions. He had excuses last start in a winner producing race: Heeza Phoenix, Mr Kissinger and Must Be Nice have all won in the space of 21 days but he’s also 1200m to 1600m in one step. Huge unknown on whether or not he’s looking for this distance but he’s found as weak a race as he could hope for to find out. MISS VEUVE is a work in progress and they’ve figured out the best way to ride her is to allow her to flop out the back, track up and keep her in one piece for as long as possible. Arguably most winnable race she has seen. CORSO VENEZIA fought on well last start and now has only 51kg. HARRIS ROAD kept coming under pressure. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – LAST MILE WIN RACE 4 HOYA DESTROYER is the kind of horse where many punters will have mental and financial scars having followed him in his short career to date but he’ll get many of us again here! Went around $2.05 (in a Class One!) two starts ago and has been the target of support in almost every race he has contested. Ran a faster L400 and L200 split than Vexatious Rose in the key form reference race and now is the time to stand up and win one. VEXATIOUS ROSE has savaged the line in two career outings and now draws a barrier for the first time in her life. They’re both through the same race and expect one of the pair wins. INVINCIBLE THEIF is first-up at 1400m but held her own in a recent 1450m trial behind Diamond Scene. GILDED REIGN a watch on debut. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet – HOYA DESTROYER WIN RACE 5 PERFECT CHANT won a 3 year old Saturday on debut and two starts later ran a slashing third in the Pinjarra Magic Millions behind Smooth Chino and Londons Image. Since then though she’s had four disappointing runs and all of a sudden the jury is out and seemingly the Pearce Brothers are trying everything they can think of to resurrect her. Last start a cross-over noseband and a tongue tie went on, this time around the shades come off. C5 to C1, Pike to ride at 61kg. It’s getting desperate! SESH was much better last start. He can burn across into a position over the speed. HEDAWOOD was $12 into $2.80 on debut and landed Belmont’s biggest plunge of the season. MA MA BELLE trialled up well for her return. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – PERFECT CHANT WIN RACE 6 ATLANTIS BEACH has raced in higher grade at 7 of his last 9 outings and was once a m72 rater. He sat no better than three deep the trip last start in a re-handicapped 69+ and looks far better suited here. Cliff Green’s horses are all going well and tracking up behind a genuine tempo set by Frappuccino, Estimator and Worcester he looks to get a chance to break back into the winner’s circle. I’M NIPOTE ran a fast finishing third first-up behind stablemate I’m Crafty and now second-up gets straight out to a mile. He’ll do no work three back the fence and be bursting through late. COVERT ROSE is on her mark but she’s trying hard. WORCESTER missed a run on 18 September and is now 28 days between outings. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – ATLANTIS BEACH EACHWAY RACE 7 FAST HARRY has always had a decent expectation placed on his shoulders by the market. He’s only had three starts and has an average SP of $1.75. Liked both his trials but wary that he could end up artificially short for a horse who maps in a pretty tricky spot? RAINLINE has come back better this preparation and looks to have found a suitable race. Ended up further back than anticipated last start after being crunched in betting but still found the line well from a fair way back. PURE OBSESSION found himself in the 72+ trial recently and without blinkers still finished within 3L of Rope Them In. DEFINE BEAUTIFUL has found a bit of consistency since being ridden more conservative and sneaks back in grade nicely. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – FAST HARRY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,8 1,2,5,6 1,2,3,4,5 2,4,5,6,7,11 Market Market
