Scott Embry’s Wednesday Bunbury Preview Posted on January 14, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 BRAVE CONTENDER finally looks to have found his race at start number 10. Placed on 5 occasions and rarely far from the winner he draws gate 2 to sit close handy over a moderate speed and with limited opposition chasing him. He should break through. PHANTOM’S STAR and WATTO’S REWARD were beaten a long way last start but behind two nice enough animals in Tycoon Storm and Pambella. TREASURED CROWN likely settles last and was fair at best at both trials and race debut. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – BRAVE CONTENDER WIN Race 2 AVA EXPRESS resumed when fourth in a maiden but was stiff not to go very close after copping a big bump in the middle stages of the race. Got shuffled back and was doing his best work late. Far from disgraced last time out in a tougher race than this and back to maiden company looks the one. Likely strides forward to sit outside of the leader and from there it should be lights. BRIARIC is as honest as they come. She’ll run her usual tough race. HUSSTARR went well on debut and draws soft. JUST UNDER improved sharply at start number two. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – AVA EXPRESS WIN Race 3 EXCELLENT DREAM only had the one start as a 2 year old when running fifth but raced extremely greenly and wide throughout. Tipped out for a spell and resumes for a new yard off the back of a soft trial. From the draw he should settle in the first couple in running and take serious beating. RUM RAKER will be a big price for a horse who hit the line well on debut in a race where the second horse has since broken its maiden. AWAY WE GO comes out of a hot Saturday race where the opposition was stronger than he meets here. NURHACI never saw daylight last start at any stage. Keep safe. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – EXCELLENT DREAM WIN Race 4 COCKYJOY trialed well and then got under the guard of a fair few punters on debut when winning in style. Looks to be a fairly nice animal, travelled well in the run, did things wrong but was powerful late. Draws well and no reason why she can’t make it two from two. WAKAN TANKA can jump from the inside gate and lead them in a race without a deal of speed. SOLID AZZA charged through the line in a recent Lark Hill trial. Gets back but has a turn of foot. DEW WEST either leads or breezes and won well last start. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – COCKYJOY WIN Race 5 BAFFLING can take up a prominent position in running from the gun draw and Joey Azzopardi is riding as well as anyone at the minute, particularly over the staying trips. Should get every opportunity in a moderate race. APPARITION was unlucky last start when bolting in behind runners before getting out late and charging. YOURTHEONEFORME wasn’t a bad run last start. ARCADIA KING is a massive animal who looks like he’ll relish the distance. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – BAFFLING WIN Race 6 GREAT HEIST was green as grass last start when running his race in patches and laying inwards noticeably in the straight. Did a big job to finish on the heels of the winner and he should only improve with race experience. DOUBLE SPICE has only had the one Lark Hill trial but it was hard to miss the effort. If Excellent Dream wins earlier in the day it’ll be a great push for his chances. SKY FIVE Can improve off a plain first-up effort. MISS ALIGNED next best in a thin race. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – GREAT HEIST WIN Race 7 NICE GO is yet to put in a bad run since the blinkers went on. Drawn soft Lucy can have her sitting midfield with cover and she should wind up into the race. Looks another consistent, honest, eachway all day Justin Warwick type. HE’S GUNSLINGER should have nearly won last start when held up for clear running the entire length of the home straight. Very hard to beat. BURNING PRIDE reunites with W.Pike and can settle over the top of the speed. BLACKWOOD RIVER is a big horse who can carry weight and is very well placed in this grade. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – NICE GO EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,4,6 2,3,4 5.6 2.3.4 Market Market
