Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on January 14, 2020July 24, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 PORSCHE QUEEN certainly doesn’t look anything special from the trials but runs into an extremely weak field on debut. Her recent trial effort was only moderate but the horses who ran one-two in the trial (Double Spice and Excellent Dream) both have ability. Shades on, soft draw, should go close. SYRIANOS was left flat footed over 1100 last start, 1200 suits better. OUR MATE BOOTS had his race last start and was home everywhere but the line when paddling last 15m. LYFSABUZ next best. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – PORSCHE QUEEN WIN Race 2 STAADEN was solid first-up when sitting in the breeze and no match for Sweet Strawberry. She looks an above average filly heading places and Staaden heads up the Brand Highway to Geraldton. Should sit over the speed and prove too strong. CASUAL TRADE has been building into the preparation and the Hammarquist yard had a day out last week. LEAD GUITAR was only fair last start but steps out in trip. SWEETBURST can improve. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 9 – 10 Suggested Bet – STAADEN WIN Race 3 ECHO STAR won well last week and looked like she would be able to take the step into C2 company. Should roll to the top or sit outside the leader here and take running down. ROSIE RED DRESS bolted in a C1 two starts ago and is freshened up for this. Excellent ride for Tyla Conway but always cautious of a claiming apprentice on a horse who doesn’t jump cleanly. RUN FOR MONEY was disappointing last start but steps up in trip. TERRIREM should sit box seat. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – ECHO STAR WIN Race 4 DARK ROYALTY has not won for a long, long time but was strong last start when ridden for speed out of the machine and taking up a prominent position. Patristic and Playing Marika were only 2.5L in front of him on the post and he looks to have found a suitable race to win one. STEVIE’S WONDER looks well placed and should be just about ready to fire here after having no luck last start from a tricky gate. Patrick Carbery makes a rare trip to Geraldton to pilot. ROCK MYLADY is hard to catch but capable. THREESUN can improve sharply. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – DARK ROYALTY WIN Race 5 COOL SERENITY is quickly building toward a picket fence. Had to sit off speed last start and still won with a leg in the air. Will likely be chasing Ice Maker here and from there she can stalk and pounce. ICE MAKER is a perfect apprentice horse. Just jump and run. Fast. BLACK DYNAMITE continues to catch the eye but his race pattern is against him. THE GOSPEL SIN is more than capable on the grass. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – COOL SERENITY WIN Race 6 ROYAL STATUE is an interesting purchase for the Geraldton region. Already a C81 rater forced to carry 60kg in the top grade. Logic says he’ll go from this race into the Batavia Sprint on Australia Day and take beating. Finished in the top 2 at 7 of his 9 outings and trialed well. Bar Plates on is a minor query. RECOILED is racing very well and takes running down if they let Kristy Bennett cross. DASHING IMAGE sits box seat and runs well. PINSSON a blowout hope. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – ROYAL STATUE WIN Race 7 MISINFORMED BEN was huge last start at Bunbury when tramping three deep the trip with 60kg only to go down fighting in the final few strides. Great chance of bouncing back here. MARLIZE let down powerfully last week to win in impressive fashion. RED EPIC has had absolutely no luck at around his last four runs sitting wide the trip on almost every occasion. If he can get just an ounce of luck he should go close. GESSATO draws poorly but Kristy Bennett’s 2kg claim is going to become more and more popular, quickly. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – MISINFORMED BEN WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 5,9 1,3 1,2 1,2,3,6 Market Market
