Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on July 24, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 THE FUGAZI hails from one of the hottest stables in the state who showed on Saturday that they can produce a 2 year old capable of settling off the speed and zapping more experienced rivals on debut. Trialed well and falls into a weak race. LIGHTHOUSE ROCK has been trialing well and had reasonable form early in his first preparation. AKVAVIT showed two starts ago that she gets through the wet going but will again be very short. DEL SUR was never a winning chance settling last behind a slow tempo. Improver. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – THE FUGAZI WIN Race 2 TRUE IMAGE has impressed at the trials and comes into an extremely moderate and winnable maiden on debut. Always wary of backing horses who will settle back, let alone on a rain affected track but she looks capable. DREAM STREAM was a nice run first-up when doing things wrong. Forgiving last start with the tongue tie going on. GOOD FORTUNE continues to run good races into midfield. KING BLITZ made good ground in the best going at Pinjarra but can run a race. Numbers: 11 – 3 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – TRUE IMAGE WIN Race 3 DAISHIO looks a ready-made race horse who is capable of racing close to the speed and proving too strong on debut. All four career trials equally as impressive and looks above average. BLACK RUSSIAN was never asked for an effort at trials and looked to have plenty in reserve. Should eat up the ground and looks a danger. STELLA ANNE was a far better run than reads on paper in a strong Saturday race. STARALIGN is another debutant who looks to have ability. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 11 – 6 Suggested Bet – DAISHIO WIN Race 4 NASHVILLE CAT was a strong winner two starts when ridden to perfection with the rail out. Is a soft7 winner previously and has the blistering Misty Metal form. GUNS OF NAVARONE leads them up or takes the trail and should be right in it. THUNDERCLAP NEWMAN has absolutely zero current form but is a wet tracker who will appreciate conditions. SNOW BLOSSOM comes from a strong race and is reunited with regular rider Glenn Smith. Not convinced she’ll enjoy conditions. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – NASHVILLE CAT WIN Race 5 GLASGOW GIRL was unable to reel in leader Captain Stirling at Northam last week but on the quick back up from a race where they really did smash the clock expecting her to be hard to beat if Turner can get her across. GINGERELLA was extremely well supported first-up and was found wanting late. Blinkers come off and she’ll be right there. MORE BXAAR was far from disgraced in a far tougher race when resuming. RUBIA MISS has never seen a race of this quality but also has a few things against her. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 14 – 1 Suggested Bet – GLASGOW GIRL EACHWAY Race 6 TRAKIATO won a much tougher race than this first-up from a spell and then has recently contested quality 3 year old winter features. Far from an ideal preparation but the Pearce family don’t do things the regular way as evidenced during the week. Has to be hard to beat here. TIME TO HUNT could give the stable a quinella. Trialed well and while his form tapered off last campaign his overall form is very strong. ZOSIMUS leads them up and should skip along. SENSE OF POWER box seats from the draw and can go back to back. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – TRAKIATO WIN Race 7 JACKA’S MOB gives the impression that he can settle right on the speed and grind away all day. Expect he will get out over further and this race is not any harder than his maiden. BEAUTIFUL MIND is obviously a nice horse in the making. Barrier 1 makes things interesting because ideally she looks a filly who will appreciate being ridden cold. Lot no admirers in defeat on debut. METALLIC QUEEN was a handy enough run without luck in the Oaks. EVERYMILE A MEMORY hit the line well her recent trial. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – JACKA’S MOB EACHWAY Race 8 IRISH MOSHE is well equipped to tackle a track which has been heavily rain affected and deteriorated over 8 races throughout the day. Drawn to sit three deep with cover and that may be the best going. YOUNG THOR will find this easier than his first-up assignment and the step up in trip suits. OTI THELIS has put together two encouraging runs. NAVY BLUE hit the line hard at his WA debut up along the fence after looking gone at the turn. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 12 – 9 Suggested Bet – IRISH MOSHE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,6,7,14 1,3,4,5 1,6 1,3,4,6,7,9,12 Market Market
