Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on November 23, 2021November 23, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SAFETY FUSE has always looked a handy filly going right back to her 2 year old days with form around Pixie Chix, Featherweight, Liwa, Hoi An, Policiere and Pat’s Got Sass. She has won two of her last three and her run in the middle was still a ripper when tramping wide throughout and only finishing 2.5L off boom filly Treasured Star. Has to carry 58.5kg here but in the small field and from the draw she’ll have them within her sights. ADVANCED was plunged last start in a race which didn’t look at all suitable for him. Thought he got to the line well considering and now has a set of shades attached. KNOT SECRET is still a maiden but he’s got undeniable ability and potential. Still doing a bit wrong. NORTHERN RULER really attacked the line on debut as a 2 year old. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – SAFETY FUSE WIN RACE 2 UNI QUEEN was big first-up last campaign behind Buzzoom and Shezaclassychix. Didn’t show up second-up but then went to a 1400m 2yo SWP and finished 4L off some really talented types in a hot form reference race (Ain’t No Other Man, Buzzoom, Rommel’s Command, Cold Shizzle, Pale Rider and Disengo all winners from in front of her). From the draw she holds a tactical advantage over The Velvet Queen and that should take her a long way in this race. THE VELVET QUEEN finished third on debut to It’sarayday and The Front Bar. It’sarayday won a Fairetha Stakes and The Front Bar has won 4 races already in her short career. Only query is the barrier. BRING THE BLING really got going once finding daylight at Narrogin in a race where the leader was off and gone. VALBANI showed glimpses last campaign. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – UNI QUEEN WIN RACE 3 DADIRRA has run into some handy animals so far in her career. Horses who have beaten her home include the likes of Buzzoom, Ponyo, Cold Shizzle, Hardly Ever, Devoted, The Front Bar, Ultimate Command, Ain’t No Other Man and most recently Frigid (third horse was impressive subsequent winner Acefire). Getting closer and closer to breaking through and gets another opportunity in an even maiden. SEEABLE comes from the same race and has the services of W.Pike instead of an apprentice who can’t claim. Does a fair bit wrong but clearly has a motor. SEDUCE ME ran well on debut. Just peaked late after looming the winner. HALATORION has had some big hitting owners added to the book mid-prep: CJ Nelson (Juicebox Creative), TK Leighton (OneOne Podcast), BS McManus (BradBet) and K Potter (Son of Vicki). Watch the market. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – DADIRRA WIN RACE 4 TREVERN will no doubt come out running underneath of Shock Result in an attempt to find the front. Not sure whether or not he’ll be able to hold up but regardless it will have him settling in the first two in running and from there he looks hard to run down. The more sweeping corner at Belmont is more suitable than Ascot (evidenced by the fact he ran off the track on Melbourne Cup Day) and the form through Mercanto and Safety Bay speaks for itself. Going well this preparation. GHOST WHO WALKS is drawn a gate to stalk the two speedsters and gets his chance with the senior on. LLESSUR has won two 1000m races first-up in her career and has blinkers added for the first time in her life for her WA and Michael Lane debut. SHOCK RESULT is a 1000m horse and at worst should get to the breeze. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – TREVERN WIN RACE 5 ISLAND MISSILE is letting down really well for Brad Rawiller at the minute and team Gangemi are in incredible form. Last 180 days: 106 runners, 19 winners, 17.9% strike rate at 27.9% POT. The way they’re going you can just back their horses and you’ll end up on the right side of the ledger. With Spillinova and Safety Bay likely to really roll them along in the early and middle stages the race should unfold in his favour. STATE ATTORNEY and POINT TAKEN both haven’t seen a race of this nature for years. Going on the fact that both have only just become eligible for this race you’d think both Michael Grantham and Jim Taylor have had the same race picked out on the calendar. SPILLINOVA was rolling throughout last start. Ready to win. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – ISLAND MISSILE WIN RACE 6 ENGLISH HERITAGE has a set of shades and W.Pike added to her arsenal. This is a very even C1 with at least 5 or 6 genuine winning chances but from the barrier she should get every hope to break through. Just had to wait her turn in behind horses last start and only got going in the last 150m when the race was all over. Peaking fourth-up and should go well. JAY DEE was nabbed in the shadows in a heart breaker on Melbourne Cup Day. Can lead or box seat from the draw. PATCHWORK won well on debut, raced greenly second-up and was thrown in the deep end third-up in the Champion Fillies. MIDNIGHT MYSTERY is a maiden in a C1 but has ability. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 10 – 5 Suggested Bet – ENGLISH HERITAGE WIN RACE 7 LET’S GALAHVANT was a bit wayward on debut in what has turned into a winner producing maiden (The Lady Is A Vamp and Frigid as well as himself) and took great improvement first-up to second-up. Cruised into the race and showed a turn of foot when asked for an effort. Worth following and should enjoy the run of the race behind a solid tempo. ACEFIRE steps out to 1400m and looks well and truly above average. Still very new but dominated them last start. HILTON brings a level of intrigue. Don’t normally get overly excited about a Narrogin maiden winner but he did it in style and looks like he will get out over even further. If he finds his rhythm in front, he might give more than just a bit of cheek. MAGNIFICENT ANDY doesn’t seem to quite know when to accelerate in his race and comes again on the line once there’s something to chase. Maps a treat and backs up off 7 days. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 12 – 7 Suggested Bet – LET’S GALAHVANT EACHWAY RACE 8 CHOOSE FREEDOM was super first-up at 1800m when charging to the line. This 2100m C3 looks no tougher or deeper than the C3 behind Night Session last start and a number of key rivals come from that exact same form race. From the draw he should get the right run and he did show some staying ability over winter at Belmont. Might be ready to go on with it now. TAXI went back last start, his prior form when settling over the top of the speed in staying races was relatively strong. Shaun O’Donnell picks up the ride and he’s drawn a gate to settle close handy. Keep safe. LADY DUCKWORTH should be just about ready third-up from a spell. PHENOMENAL ANOMALY looks like he’ll stay all day and could have run another lap last start. Really one paced but will keep whacking away. Numbers: 9 – 14 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – CHOOSE FREEDOM EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,4,6,7 2,5,7,9,10 5,6,12 1,4,9,14 Market Market
