Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on July 3, 2018July 4, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 REGAL COUNSEL has been excellent at both runs this preparation and the step up to 1200m looks right up his alley. Add William Pike into the saddle and he certainly appeals. ANGELIC RULER hit the line hard coming from a long way back a fortnight ago and should position up closer. NEMIROFF was brave behind Black Sabbath first-up and then very poor second-up. Trialed since. ALCINA did a stack of work to cross and lead last start, jumps straight to the fence here. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – REGAL COUNSEL WIN Race 2 REBEL KNIGHT has contested exclusively tougher races than this. If Pateman can jump him out and cross those drawn to his inside he will be very hard to beat in probably the weaker of the two 2 year old races. SNOWCHINO is capable of finding the front and making the likely favourite work a little. Looked more than handy at trials. BURGOYNE is drawn far better than his debut run where he was far from disgraced. MIDNIGHT ROCKET may be looking for further but wasn’t knocked around in a quality trial field. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – REBEL KNIGHT WIN Race 3 ELECTRIC LIGHT was backed as if unbeatable on debut and duly saluted in stylish fashion. Likely ends up three back the fence again and can sprint up the cutaway. GLASGOW GIRL won’t have any traffic issues. Should roll straight to the top and give them something to catch. Ran good time at Northam to win. KENTOO will find this much easier than recent assignments and should find his favorite spot outside the lead. MURRAY THE BULLDOG was never a winning chance over 1000m in Saturday grade, forgive. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – ELECTRIC LIGHT WIN Race 4 MAGIC OPUS back to the 1000m looks a positive but the gate is a slight concern with a deal of speed drawn inside. If Kate Witten can get across then on form the mare looks right in the mix in a very even race. THE NICCONIAN leads or box seats and there is the option of the cutaway. Went very well first-up and drops sharply in grade. FUTURIST was impressive at his WA debut and draws gate 1. When they fan for home should get a lovely run through. CHISANO is speedy type and was right there til the 100 first up at Northam. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – MAGIC OPUS EACHWAY Race 5 IRISH MOSHE has been hitting the line hard since being run off her feet first-up at Northam. Any extra rain will assist her and if they’re winding up three deep then she’ll be suited. LOVE ALWAYS almost saluted in a quality form race two starts ago and then was unable to make any real impact in a 3 year old Saturday race. Back in grade and trip, has to be right in it. MASSAGI is better than what she showed first-up, expect improvement. SKETCH LINE made lots of ground in the worst part of the track first-up, big run. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 10 – 8 Suggested Bet – IRISH MOSHE WIN Race 6 BONNY BE GOOD resumed down the 1000m straight and simply wasn’t suited. Was a big improver second-up when finding traffic in the straight and finishing off nicely. This looks her best chance so far. DON’T FUSS came from the strong Misty Metal form at Northam and won well last start. Up sharply in weight but drawn to get a perfect run. MISS SWINDLE is bursting to win a race but draws another horror alley. OREGON BRONE sat three deep the trip last start but that’s also where all the winners were coming from. Likely ends up deep again. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – BONNY BE GOOD EACHWAY Race 7 REEF KEEPER should roll straight to the front for Glenn Smith and is now part of the all conquering Lindsay Smith stable. Like his chances of saluting first-up. BOLLINGER BOY resumed at a mile and was found wanting late in a strongly run race. Drops out of Saturday three year old grade into a 56+ and should be charging home. THE RAKE is a month between runs and drawn an alley where he is likely to get back and wait on a cutaway run. SOLAR SKY trialed well and went alright fresh. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – REEF KEEPER WIN Race 8 GENERAL HUSSON has been much maligned this preparation running a lot of minor placings without saluting. He only needs to cross Lickety Split to lead this field and then enjoys a soft lead. SENSO was impressive last start coming from well off the speed to close well late. By the last we’ll know how the cutaway is playing. JUICING CARROTS dropped a massive 13 ratings points last preparation, put him in the quad. LICKETY SPLIT likely hands up the lead and enjoys the soft run leader’s back with a cutaway rail. Solid effort in the Belmont Guineas. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – GENERAL HUSSON EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 5,9 1,2,5,6 2,4,5 1,2,5,7,8 Market Market
