Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on July 16, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 WAR SECRETS trialed really well and then ran into a sharp line-up fresh. False Statement, Missing Pro, Sir Mambo, Classy Lassy. All would be clear favourite in this field. Blinkers on, Pike on. Needs luck but is the one to beat. SALCITY was run down on debut at 1200. Should bounce straight to the front and take a stack of catching. SASSATIONAL either breezes or takes cover. SUPER TEROITOA can tow ball the leader. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet – WAR SECRETS WIN Race 2 TIME TO SIZZLE was very well supported on debut off the back of a sizzling trial victory. Was unable to reel in the leader but lost no admirers. Chris Parnham can lead or sit right over the speed and prove too strong. CHATTER SESSION comes from the same race and took the impressive trial effort to the race. Draws soft here. Looks the danger. KENTUCKY LOVE is well bred and draws the inside. Miller 2 year olds are always ready to race. UNCANNY TIMING draws poorly but showed a bit at Lark Hill. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 10 – 4 Suggested Bet – TIME TO SIZZLE WIN Race 3 CITY CIRCLE was bitterly disappointing last time out when backed from $5 into $3.20, leading and fading into fifth. That race looked good for her (60+) and this is a drop in grade. Anyone who backed her last start has to follow up into a 3yo 0MWLY race. Form around Flirtini, Dance Music and Flower of War. HEAVENLY AFFAIR was brave last week when tramping wide throughout. Looks a nice progressive type. CAERHELAN comes from the same race as City Circle. Back in grade and a couple of gear changes. LOOKOUT will be forgotten in the market but is going well. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – CITY CIRCLE WIN Race 4 CLASSY LASSY bounces straight to the front and with Bonnie Palise making the trip down from Broome to take the ride only carries a postage stamp 52.5kg. Should be leading and running them off their feet. TRANSGRESSOR draws well, drops in grade, has Pike aboard and will get last crack in a fast run race. CITICHANT is in form but draws to sit deep the trip. LA BIONDA is a danger from three back the fence. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – CLASSY LASSY WIN Race 5 OKINA KURI was held up at all the wrong stages last week when De Andes was off and gone. That was over before the corner and backing-up off 7 days if Pike can settle in the first few he looks capable of winning. ROSEBUSH just draws a few gates too wide to be jumping into her again. Was very good winning last start and has the ability to win. Will need luck. GILLESPIE has been a frustrating commodity for punters this campaign. Yet to enjoy much luck but racing well. BON VOYAGE will get used to racing having joined Mark Bairstows yard. He improves into the prep. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – OKINA KURI WIN Race 6 SIR MAMBO was held up at crucial stages last start and only got clear late to flash for fourth. The biggest query here is where Chris Parnham gets to in the run. Has been racing on speed in 1000m straight races so there has to be a temptation to roll the dice and go forward. I’M PRETTY has been catching the eye in lesser races but now has Pike engaged on the quick back-up. Very hard to beat. MASTER PEARL was jogging in behind runners first-up and could surprise a few. ONYA HEAD drops back in trip and will keep battling away. Numbers: 2 – 11 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – SIR MAMBO WIN Race 7 SON OF BACCHUS waltzed in last start when finding the front, controlling and running away from a talented filly in Serenity Bay. Goes up to 61kg here but this field is weaker than what he met last time out. Should work his way to the top and from there they’ll struggle to catch him. REGENT STAR continues to savage the line. She’ll pick up a C1 1600-2000m race very soon. FRIAR AWAY is building into the preparation and will finish off hard. CAMPAIGN arguably should have won first-up. Jury still out on his level of ability. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – SON OF BACCHUS WIN Race 8 MELTEME comes from a race which was run almost 5 lengths above benchmark, backs up off 7 days and draws to either lead or box seat in a race without a deal of speed. Even though she is a C1 filly in a C3 she ticks enough boxes. PICTURE PERFECT was backed as if unbeatable first-up and didn’t fire a shot. The trials suggest that he will need every inch of a mile. HAY MAGIC caught the eye fresh but doesn’t win out of turn. DECEPTION GAME is getting very close but will need to find the three deep train and sustain a run with 60kg. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – MELTEME EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,5 1,2,4,5,9,11 1 1,4,5,6,8 Market Market
