Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on July 9, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 RATION ALY caught the eye on debut and the step up in trip looks suitable. Not a strong 2-year-old race by any stretch. Can go close. COME RIGHT BACK was hard in the market in the same race and finished off well. Awkward galloping action but should improve again. PROBLEMATIC trialed well alongside a subsequent winner and can give cheek. MING XING hit the line hard last start. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – RATION ALY WIN Race 2 MEXI COLA was nominated for an 1100 at Northam which would have been likely far too sharp. The abandoned meeting sees him lob into a winnable 1300 and fresh he can give this a shake. ERISTIC went very close first-up and then no idea what went wrong second-up when beaten before the corner. If he can reproduce the first-up or trial run he’ll go close. THE VAMPIRE can give cheek in front if Edwards lets him run. AL CAPITANO comes from a race run 4 lengths below average but has shown ability. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – MEXI COLA EACHWAY Race 3 BOOTLEG RASCAL has put in two strong performances so far this preparation and looks to have found another suitable assignment. Sits midfield with cover and should be in the finish. SCHIMMEL comes from a strong form race and previous efforts this campaign all had merit. Will be forgotten in the market but can win. MANHATTAN MONEY jumps short every start and has been fair this campaign. Drawn to be right in the finish off a soft draw but jury still out. VEEBEE has ability and wins a maiden sooner rather than later sitting on speed and fighting on. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 12 – 4 Suggested Bet – BOOTLEG RASCAL WIN Race 4 SMUG NOXIOUS has not been disgraced behind Missile Launch in recent 1450m trials when battling away. She is on debut at a mile but looks very one paced. This race lacks any sort of depth so could be worth some consideration at big double figures. MATABELE has not been seen since February. The debut effort at Narrogin over 1720 was strong enough to win this and is another who will open a big price. BLACK RUSSIAN was unable to wind up in a slowly run affair first-up. RETURN A SMILE never saw daylight last start and charged to the line on debut. Numbers: 14 – 13 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – SMUG NOXIOUS & MATABELE PLACE Race 5 MELTEME stalks the speed, gets a soft run and should only improve for the first experience over the trip. This race is very weak and there is only 1- 2 lengths between the top five or six. Playing safe with the best run in transit. REGENT STAR is going really well at the moment and continues to hit the line full of running. KRAKKAS won well last start and this race is no deeper than his recent maiden races. Stable and loyal strapper/owner are in a purple patch. He may just need more ground. BLOOMY’S SUN should improve drawn soft and out in trip. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – MELTEME EACHWAY Race 6 SNOWCHINO is the obvious on paper in the race. Absolutely no luck two starts ago and then lead them up in a Saturday 60+ race over a mile last start when only run down late. The run was sectionally plain but dropping back to 1400 and back in grade looks the one to beat. BLACK SHADOW is ready to win a race, backs up off 7 days and has a senior rider engaged for the first time this preparation. Looked like he was about to make a run last week when chopped out. CHAMPAGNE GAL has been going far better than it reads on paper. Coming out of strong form and sectional races and Pike jumps aboard. HALAKAL has been excelling on rain affected ground. This is not. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet – SNOWCHINO WIN Race 7 THE FUGAZI gets one more chance to show what he is really made of. Thinking that things were not right last preparation because most seem to agree that he is better than that. His debut 3 year old campaign was excellent but last preparation was lengths below. Expecting him to bounce back. PEARL GIRL has been trialing the house down and draws soft. WAKAN TANKA can find the front and Steve Parnham likely had the choice of 3 rides. HEAVENLY AFFAIR is a nice animal and looked a little wayward and unsuited down the straight. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – THE FUGAZI WIN Race 8 LORD LUDLOW went really well out of his comfort zone first-up on the back of a strong trial. Beaten home by quality 1000m types: Battle Storm, Don’t Fuss, Captain Stirling and Chix Pic. Back in grade, drawn to lead or box seat and to a far more suitable 1200. TRAKIATO was never on the track first-up and still kept coming. Noske rides him better than anyone and they reunite. HALUSA ran a race first-up for his new stable and at his best he’d go close. FALSE STATEMENT sat three deep the trip in a strong 3 year old race last start and won well. Can go on with it. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – LORD LUDLOW EACHWAY Race 9 BARON BOSTOCK looks well placed and hard to beat. Two starts ago sat on top of a ridiculously strong tempo in a race run over 5 lengths faster than average when scoring. Last start was held up at crucial stages and eased out in a Saturday graduation. Drawn well, Noske aboard, hard to toss. LIPSTICK FLICKERS is low flying. The times she’s recording suggest she has gone to a new level and is a Saturday filly in the making. If she can position up in the breeze again she’ll be the testing material. LIDO BEACH is a model of consistency. Watching his run vs Baron Bostock on May 25th suggest there isn’t much between them. OKINA KURI won well last start but this race is far deeper. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – BARON BOSTOCK WIN Race 10 MISSING PRO bombed the start last time out and then was an enormous effort to still loom the winner and only peak in the last 50m. If Stent can leave the gates safely she has the speed to hold them all out and lead from start to finish. Effort two starts ago leading in slick time in a Saturday 3yo 1000m race excellent. CITICHANT either crosses or sits outside Missing Pro and will be hard to hold out. SMART FOX is double nominated Wednesday and Thursday and will be in the finish regardless of where they go. REQUISTION will need luck but has a turn of foot. Numbers: 5 – 10 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – MISSING PRO WIN Quaddie (Race 7 – 10) 2,7 1,3,4,7,8 2,3,5 1,2,5,6,10 Market Market
