Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on September 10, 2024September 10, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DESERT WHISPER is the only winner in a field of otherwise maidens. She’s dropping out of a 3 year old 1000m Saturday when beaten 3L by Madhi Girl, Cleanemup, Golden Vale and Allentown. That’s easily good enough form to win this – she just needs to successfully carry 57.5kg. SIXINCH HEELS has only had one 400m jump out and that was back in early July. Looked good and finished only 2L off Saturday winner Keep Ita Mystery and Promising. RIDER ON A STORM was winding up powerfully late in his recent trial. ROCKSOME goes around the roughie of the field but wasn’t disgraced behind All Grunt first-up. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – DESERT WHISPER WIN RACE 2 HEZ GOT THE SAFE trialled really well leading into his debut as a 2 year old when finishing third behind Repossession and The Agency. He’s resuming here first-up, no trial and is likely to jump from barrier 10/11 but love these 3 year olds against the older horses in all-age maidens and think he’s got a lot of upside. Will need luck/a big steer but confident he’s the best animal in the race. SAFEKEEPER continues to go around short and get rolled, but she’s got Pike and she’s mapped to get every chance. MARYBEE comes back to 1000m and is drawn the cutaway. DUBAI’S DAUGHTER trialled well in a 0 – 71 trial against winners. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – HEZ GOT THE SAFE WIN RACE 3 ZAZA ROCK had her first start for Grant & Alana Williams last time out and sat parked three deep the trip without any cover. Did a super job to get within 1L of Chantel late, gets a 1kg weight swing, gets Pike and gets a barrier. She was 5 weeks between runs heading into that assignment and should take natural improvement. No excuses. BAY STREET has had a 5 week freshen after racing consistently well in C3 and C5 company over the last few months. Get back, run on type. CHANTEL is a Northam specialist. Can she bring that form to Belmont? LORD RANDOLPH has blinkers re-attached for the third time. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – ZAZA ROCK WIN RACE 4 SINFUL LIVING sat in the breeze first-up and was unable to get past Cocktail Party in the concluding stages. Big different here second-up is that she should be able to cross and find the fence and that could be worth lengths to a filly like her. This is not a strong line-up and if she reproduces her fresh run she should go close to saluting. SMOKEY MOUNTAIN has his first start for new trainer Peter Bamford and likely parks outside Sinful Living in the breeze. Honest type. MAGNIFICENT CARAT finished 2L behind Sinful Living fresh and only gets half a kilo. STATE OF FURY might want further. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – SINFUL LIVING WIN RACE 5 BONNY ROCK finished just over 1L from the winner in a C3 at Bunbury behind King’s Flirt, Extreme Love and Decoration before heading to Belmont Park and finishing in the money of a C3 behind Decoration and Kiralui (goes around even money in a 0MWLY in Race 7). She drops back into a C1, only rises 1kg and looks ready to win. Eachway price is attractive. TALK TO WYN will bounce straight on the top and comes through a strong form reference race behind Trio and Beach Pad and ahead of Famous Dain and Missile Storm. ELLICAZAM won impressively on debut. BE BARDOT is a maiden in a C1 and will likely jump favourite. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – BONNY ROCK EACHWAY RACE 6 CENTRE BOND is the second talented galloper that Graeme Ballantyne brings to Belmont on Wednesday. He was $6 into $4.80 first-up when doing plenty wrong and yet still hitting the line powerfully in behind Audrey Grace and True Apostle. Second-up gets to a more forgiving 1400m and looks a horse on the rise. Keen to follow him this prep. BOHEMIAN DIAMOND broke her maiden like a mare who could work through the grades. SO NATAYA similarly went from a maiden and then more than held her own in a 60+ Graduation. CANDLELIGHT SHERIF trialled super and ran well without luck fresh. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – CENTRE BOND WIN RACE 7 EEYORE WAYZ is E1 and so we’ll find out by 8am on Wednesday whether or not he gains a run, and if he does, it’s hard not to be in his corner after finishing within 1L off Saloon Bar, Triple Jay, Ginger Baker and Vast Art in a Listed Farnley Stakes. Proven on the back-up and the 0MWLY races he has contested over the last couple of months have far more depth than this. JUST ADORABELLE is the kind of mare where you can sit and wait to watch the races unfold before making judgement. If they’re winning down the outside fence she’s a big chance. KIRALUI has returned in career best order. QUEEN NARDI is a handy mare resuming. Numbers: 13 – 5 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – EEYORE WAYZ WIN Market Market
