Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on September 3, 2024September 3, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FRAPPUCCINO resumed in a 60+ Graduation on a Saturday over 1000m where he finished nearly 9L off Bravo Centurion. That’s obviously a huge beaten margin but he still beat home winners Madam Kisses, Bonnie Lad and Salt Lake Shake and was looking for further (and easier). Gets both of those conditions here and we’ll see where he’s at. FLAGSHIP trialled well as a 2 year old back in March behind Cleanemup. VANDEMOER only had one start as a 2 year old back in 2023 and now resumes off nearly 15 months away from racing. Trial was soft. ROYAL TROOPER was an odd trial. Only picked up last 100m and caught the eye. Numbers: 1 – 12 – 5 – 13 Suggested Bet – FRAPPUCCINO WIN RACE 2 THE TOP BAR was scratched from Saturday to save for this. He was a fresh winner with 60kg when parking three deep and proving too strong for his opposition. This race has much more depth on paper but he also looks like he’ll land in front without doing any work early. Hard to run down from there. PHAROAH SHOW and GREAT EMOTION are both capable types from Peters Investments. They’ll both be winning their fair share of races and both look like they’ll continue to improve with racing. GOLD MAKER was excellent first-up and second-up. Forgiving last start where he was unsuited on the fence and being held up. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet – THE TOP BAR WIN RACE 3 LORD SHIVA has trialled well for his return and like stablemate The Top Bar in the previous should be straight to the front for CJP. Arguably his best run of his career came in a 3 year old Plate when working to the breeze before finishing 3.5L adrift of Sapphire Street, Ginnivan, Angel Undercover and Final Siren. Looks a high cruise speed leader who will look to get them chasing a fair way out. AHYEAHRIGHTO comes through his recent 930m back straight Lark Hill trial and was finding the line strongly under minimal pressure. HEZANGELIC was immediately tipped out after his disappointing run at Ascot in April. Nice type resuming. OREGON HIKER ran well fresh. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – LORD SHIVA WIN RACE 4 BEACH PAD was a ripping return in a C1 behind Trio (luckless on Saturday) and now second-up gets out to a more suitable distance, drops 4.5kg in weight and strikes an open and even race without any standouts. He finished alongside Grand Reserve in the Derby and they both look to have come back bigger and better this time in. Just needs luck from the awkward spot he likely settles. GRAND RESERVE just kept coming fresh. Gritty win from a one paced staying type. SUPER ROMANI didn’t get through the Heavy last start. Forgive. LORD LALA is more than capable and gets weight relief. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – BEACH PAD EACHWAY RACE 5 WARRALEA LASS wasn’t disgraced last week in a race where the leaders went way too quick out in front and set it up for the swoopers right down the centre. She’s on the 7 day back-up, she’s out to a staying trip (ran fourth in the WA Oaks) ad she should land a handy spot behind a genuine tempo (Arnray/Tallangatta/Blue Card). She’s one of many, many chances. TALLANGATTA has raced in higher grade his last seven starts since winning a 50+. Much better horse on drier tracks – just pray the rain holds off. MR TALENTINO is progressing nicely. JIVE KING gets every favour along the fence. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – WARRALEA LASS EACHWAY RACE 6 MINE HOST is thriving on the wet tracks and was huge again last start. Sat three deep without any cover in a race where they stopped the clock 6L faster than average. We’ve already seen Royal Gap win out of that race and while he may do it tough again from his shocking barrier he’s rock hard fit and coming back to 1400m. RUNFORROB continues to go well. His last two have been in Saturday grade and he has been holding his own. ONE PUNCH was disappointing last start when beaten 7.5L by No Brainer. Can bounce back. DECORATION was well supported late in betting last Wednesday and lead from start to finish. Numbers: 10 – 9 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – MINE HOST EACHWAY RACE 7 MAGNACHINE may sneak under the radar here. Her las two have been on really wet tracks which she may not have enjoyed. Three starts ago she finished 2L behind Dirty Chai and now meets her 3.5kg better at the weights and is drawn to get a soft run three back the fence. If the cutaway is good, she’s a live chance at odds. KRAKEN TIME has been given a freshen after being beaten as favourite in a 3 year old 62+. He’s versatile and he’s got plenty more wins ahead of him. JUST LEROY won his maiden like a horse who could work through his grades. DIRTY CHAI did beat Kraken Time last time they met. Numbers: 13 – 3 – 5 – 12 Suggested Bet – MAGNACHINE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,7 1,2,3,7 1,3,4,9,10 3,5,10,12,13 Market Market
