Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on August 27, 2024August 27, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GI GI POPS toyed with them last start in great time at Bunbury. She lead them up over 1400m on a Soft7 and stopped the clock 8L faster than maiden average. She’s a lovely striding filly who should find the top again in a small field and from there is the one to run down. OUR EXISTENCE ran home well on debut behind subsequent Saturday winners Bondi Bay and Mean Machine. Logical danger. VENUS KING and LINE OF THOUGHT look the next pair. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – GI GI POPS WIN RACE 2 SHOOT TO FAME looks to have found a very winnable race here. She’s coming through the Gi Gi Pops maiden at Bunbury and drops 1.5kg taking on the older horses which looks a luxury. She tends to get off the speed which is always a concern but she’s building towards a win and the form around her entire career is strong. BOHEMIAN DIAMOND resumes first-up over 1400m as a staying type of mare. Very similar race to first-up at Bunbury on 4 February where she was beaten a head. COUSIN MORTIMER has now put in three ripper runs. ROYAL LAW never saw daylight first-up. Numbers: 16 – 12 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – SHOOT TO FAME EACHWAY RACE 3 SINFUL LIVING is a sharp filly resuming in a moderate C3 1000. She was a 2x Saturday 2 year old winner in her initial preparation before finishing 2L off Golden Vale, 2.7L off Big Shots in a Pinjarra Magic Millions, 2.3L off Sir Dreamalot in a Supremacy and then was over the hill by the time she got to the Gimcrack. Trialled well for her return – 59kg is the concern. APACHE BLUE was well found in betting down the 1000m straight last start and went very close. Knocking on the door. SCENIC ECLIPSE is racing below her best but is capable. COCKTAIL PARTY can either lead or box seat on Sinful Living. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – SINFUL LIVING WIN RACE 4 WARRALEA LASS found the 1200m too sharp first-up and then found the line strongly second-up over 1600. Should be peaking here third-up, is versatile and maps to get a lovely soft run close-handy. Ready now. ANTIQUE STAR is a last start maiden winner and the form around her has been white hot in the 13 day period since. We’ve already seen Couldhavebeen and Ilgiro Delmondo win out of that event and expect Foxy Rascal / West Massiv / Keggs Later to further frank the form Thursday. DRINKS ON ME won very impressively at his first outing for Jade Tangaroa and then backed up off 7 days into his second-up assignment. Can bounce back. MIRO has shades on first time. Numbers: 10 – 6 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – WARRALEA LASS EACHWAY RACE 5 EXTREME LOVE has returned in excellent order this preparation. By this stage of the program we’ll know whether it’s close handy/cutaway or whether it’s back/outside fence. She’s a get back run on type of mare who can wind-up with a strong L600. Looks the right set up for her if conditions suit. DECORATION is through the same race behind King’s Flirt and cut back towards the ‘wrong’ part of the track. Solid return. BONNY ROCK improved tenfold in that race. GREAT FORTUNE one to keep an eye on at big odds. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 2 – 12 Suggested Bet – EXTREME LOVE EACHWAY RACE 6 BONDI PLUNGE has been a bit of a frustrating horse for punters over her 13 start career. She has only missed the money twice in her life, but she’s also only won the one single race. The form from last preparation is outstanding: second to Influencing (4x winner), third to Sapphire Street (Listed F&M winner), third to Fly With Caution and subsequent Listed 3 year old winner Cool Memory – she just needs to come out and win a race (or three). CROSS STATEMENT is a model of consistency and gives 110%. KING’S FLIRT won well last start after being well found in betting. ZOUBOLTZ seems to appreciate the wet tracks. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – BONDI PLUNGE WIN RACE 7 CENTRE BOND is a nice type resuming. He was chasing throughout in his recent 950m trial behind first-up winner Pin Deep and talented 4 year old Lord Shiva but still found the line strongly and is no doubt better suited here on race day over 1200. Big maiden win in March and then a super effort without luck in a 3 year old Saturday to finish his initial preparation. Follow him. IMAGE OF PRO hasn’t raced since August last year but has been trialling well. TRUE APOSTLE won well on debut as a 2 year old and resumes without a trial. SUNBRONZED is likely to do it tough but could that be the best part of the track by Race 7? Numbers: 4 – 2 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – CENTRE BOND EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,6,10 2,3,4,7,9,10,11,12 6 2,4,9 Market Market
