Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on July 23, 2024July 23, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DEFERRED trialled like a filly who could make her way through the grades this preparation and was a strong first-up winner this track/distance/grade on a Heavy8 when sweeping down the outside for an impressive victory. Second-up she rises 3.5kg in weight with a senior going on, however, meets key rivals Silver Eye and En Plein Air only 1kg worse and at the same weights respectively. Nice race for her again. SILVER EYE parked deep throughout in that event and fought on bravely. TERRATIF has shown ability in every start to date. Worked home well at trials. EN PLEIN AIR will look to cross to the top. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – DEFERRED WIN RACE 2 AREDUET has been racing well throughout her career and now drops into a midweek 2 year old event for the first time. She has finished second to Street Band after parking on speed and most recently she was flooding home behind highly impressive debut winner Wind And The Lion and ran straight past rivals Live Lucky and Niccimota. Looks the most winnable race she has seen yet. LIVE LUCKY sat outside of Niccimota last start and was able to grind past her late. Drawn inside her this time around. NICCIMOTA went to the races on debut with a big expectation on her shoulders after two impressive trial wins. CHAMPAGNE COAST has always trialled well. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – AREDUET WIN RACE 3 LE BEAU loomed large on debut but couldn’t quite finish it of behind Lucky Lily. Second-up with added fitness and race day experience thinking he can improve and win what is a pretty thin 1000m maiden on paper. They’ll burn early and he should be poised to strike in behind them. NATURAL GEM ran well on debut and then wasn’t seen for 45 days. Shades go on and Brad Parnham jumps back aboard. SAFEKEEPER is drawn poorly but gets Pike and has shown glimpses from time to time. TAKE YOUR CHANCES has won 400m jump outs but not convinced she’ll cross Aubrey’s Star which makes it harder. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – LE BEAU EACHWAY RACE 4 CLOSE AT HAND and MAGNASONIC have both contested the exact same two races this preparation. First-up they ran into Joker’s Grin – one of the most exciting young sprinters in WA – and second-up they went to a C1 1022 at Bunbury where MAGNASONIC came out victorious, however, they recorded near identical L600s. Big difference here is that CLOSE AT HAND gets Pike on and is drawn to get the run of the race. Think he can turn the tables. MAGNASONIC had the shades removed and it made a big difference. DEFIANT DIORITE always runs well when they drop him back into a C3. ROCKET JUICE was in the wrong part of the track last start. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – CLOSE AT HAND WIN RACE 5 TOROPA would be easily the best bet on the program if she didn’t have the lingering red flag of a recent virus. Scratched on 10 July and now heads into this 28 days between runs, with 60kg and stepping out to 1200m for the first time. She’s clearly still the one to beat but there’s always an element of concern when they’ve missed a run, especially at close to even money. AMARLIE MISS is flying. She did a super job to get within a nose of the winner in a slowly run race last start. VILLAGE GIRL is a model of consistency and has promised to win one all prep. ENCHANTING SOUND maps soft. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – TOROPA WIN RACE 6 ONE PUNCH has the Deferred/Silver Eye/En Plein Air form which is expected to hold up in Race 1. He drops back into a C1 after nearly beating home Deferred fresh and when you consider that he was cutting back to the ‘wrong’ part of the track at that stage of the program it was an outstanding return to racing. He should be hard to beat. ON PATROL has raced in higher grade his entire 17 start career. First time into a C1 and goes well fresh. DON’T TRUST JUDAS will have been sacked by most punters but does return to a C1 and comes back in distance. CALL OF DUTY returns a gelding and has a big L600. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet – ONE PUNCH WIN RACE 7 ARNRAY looks to have found another 50+ where he can work his way to the top and then turn it into a real wet track slog. The last two times he has raced in this grade he beat Antique Queen by 5L at Bunbury and he finished second to See Ya Champ who he meets 3.5kg better and beat home Weightman. One paced stayer who grinds through a deteriorating surface. ABISSI had no momentum last start and was conceding the winner 7.5kg weight. Wasn’t a bad effort all things considered. BAY STREET continues to attack the line. EXPELLIARMUS skipped right away from them last start for an impressive win. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – ARNRAY EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,5 2,6 1,2,5,6,7,9,11,12 3,6,7,9,11,13,15 Market Market
