Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on July 9, 2024July 9, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 CLEANMEUP is the full sister to stable star Oscar’s Fortune and has shown plenty of speed and ability in her last three consecutive trial wins. She’s got gate speed which was on display in her 2x 400m jump out wins and she was strong through the line in her 950m trial win. Excited to see her step out on debut. OVERDRIVE was coming off a 400m jump out when resuming a protest winner over Mai Aloha. Should only improve off that and has the race experience. THIS’LL SHOW YA has shades added. Form last prep was super. AUBREY’S STAR is 3 from 3 in her 400m jump outs. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – CLEANMEUP WIN RACE 2 ABISSI and DESERT EDGE are both last start maiden winners from the Northam meeting on 27 June. ABISSI broke his maiden over 1600m in a race where they went almost 6L faster than average while DESERT EDGE was too strong for them over 2200 when leading and winning. Thinking that ABISSI may have a bit more upside and that DESERT EDGE may have to settle for the breeze outside Buckland which makes his job harder. GLITZ IT looks a staying type in the making. ONLY US can be hit and miss but is handy enough on his day. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – ABISSI WIN RACE 3 RELIABLE IMAGE was a big improver going from 1200m to 1600 second-up. She was stiff in the Abissi race and if that form holds up in Race 2 then she’ll loom as one of the main players in a wide open maiden. Given the rain forecast for Perth over the next 24 hours the wider draw could even work in her favour. THE HILL TRIBE was excellent fresh behind History Won’t Care and then never got into the contest second-up behind Mr Talentino. Can bounce back from the better draw. FLYING CHOUX looks like he’ll appreciate both a set of blinkers and more ground. IFF YOU’RE READY wasn’t a bad return to racing. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet – RELIABLE IMAGE EACHWAY RACE 4 DON’T TRUST JUDAS has been a costly follow for punters over the seasons but on paper this really does look his chance to win one and for us to peg some back. He’s only lightly raced but has always been popular in betting and probably gone around artificially short for what he has actually produced. Two solid runs this prep so far and now third-up Pike goes on. GRATIAS DEO swims and might just get conditions to suit. ZAZA ROCK wasn’t too bad fresh considering the 1200m was unsuitable. ROYAL ELITE won well two starts back under Lucy Fiore on a Soft6. Forget she went around last start. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 1 – 13 Suggested Bet – DON’T TRUST JUDAS WIN RACE 5 VERRY TIMELY comes through the Sensessional C1 which all of a sudden looks like great form with him winning on Saturday, however, we’ve also seen Coatachino and General Knowledge win out of that race as well. Got a mile back from a wide draw and hit the line strongly. Goes around eachway and looks to get the right run. KHUTOS was a strong return to racing when only run down over the final furlong by Pearly Nugget. Chanel Cooper can kick through to lead this and with her 3kg claim he’ll be in front for a long way. UNCLE GERARD is just an unlucky horse. He can’t draw a gate, he can’t buy a map and if there’s bad luck he’ll find it. DEVILS I put on a clinic last start in a maiden. Numbers: 10 – 2 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – VERRY TIMELY EACHWAY RACE 6 TOROPA is a sharp filly. She’s currently 2/2 undefeated and looks like she’ll only get better with racing. She was almost a year between her first start and her second start so you’d think she’s got fitness improvement to come. Drawn awkwardly but if Steven Parnham can get her into a half decent spot she’ll be hard to beat. UNIVERSAL PLAYBOY was annihilated in betting at his Anthony Barton debut. $21 into $5.50 is a big go and the punters were not far off the mark. UNDER INFLUENCE found the outside fence at Northam last start and in review that could have been worth lengths. JAZ SESSION has had a freshen. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 2 – 11 Suggested Bet – TOROPA WIN RACE 7 KRAKEN TIME is a very nice animal. He was luckless at both runs last campaign and then bolted in fresh. He was ridden for speed in that maiden to stay out of trouble but in time looks like he’ll be an even better horse with a sit. Think he can work through his grades. SILVER EYE ran into Joker’s Grin first-up and 1000m was always going to be on the short side. Thought he attacked the line full of running and is better suited here at 1200. MAGICASH was slowly away last start in a race that contained Saturday’s 72+ quinella Final Siren & Ginnivan. EN PLEIN AIR was too sharp for them last week and can win again 7 days later. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – KRAKEN TIME WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,8 1,2,6,10 2,5,6 1,6,9,10 Market Market
