Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on September 12, 2023September 12, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MASAMUNE put on a serious galloping display on debut (for all the wrong reasons) when running off the track rounding for home and then rattling home into fourth after finally balancing and going straight. At his second career outing he went close on a Saturday behind sharp filly Sass Machine. Spelled, matured, trialled well and lobs an ideal spot in running from the draw. Excited to see him back. TWAIN’S ANGEL was too quick for moderate maiden opposition on debut. Only carried 51.5kg but still ran the clock in a sharp 1:11:61. INSYDE SUCCESS is Red Can Man’s half-brother and matched motors with Masamune at trials. HOW PRETTY had excuses on debut. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – MASAMUNE WIN RACE 2 LINDEN’S GOLD finished third on debut down the straight at Pinjarra before heading to a Saturday 3-year-old Plate when holding his own behind Lord Lala, Dialing and Augment. Drops back into an all-age maiden, drops half a kilo in weight and with an ounce of luck early from a slightly tricky alley he can get himself into a position behind the speed. Looks a thin race. GRACE ROSE is really well placed and after the claim for Victoria Corver she’s only got 51.5kg on her back. Ran well enough last week in a 3 year old 0MWLY to loom as the main danger. SHOULDER PATCH ran well behind Royal Toronado on debut and draws soft. CASINO ROYALE ran well at odds on debut. Numbers: 7 – 10 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – LINDEN’S GOLD WIN RACE 3 TRIO found a lot of traffic on debut after being half a step slow out of the machine. Got shuffled back into a really awkward spot in running and spent the majority of the home straight trying to find clear galloping room. Chopped out a few times in the home straight and looked to be going well enough to have played a part in the finish. Winkers go on and from the draw he should get the right run in an open and even maiden. ARCADIA KNIGHT chased hard behind Twain’s Angel in a maiden run 5.5L faster than average. Should hold up as a form reference. HOLDOUT hit the line hard last Wednesday. PRIVATE SAPLING is raw but has ability. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – TRIO WIN RACE 4 MARRI MARTINI was last seen in the Autumn Fillies series – 1000 Guineas, Natasha Stakes and WA Oaks. When you see those form races you think they’ll need the run, however, her trial without blinkers was excellent and early in her previous campaign she did finish second to Rear Admiral at 1200m in a 3-year-old 0MWLY. Provided they can make ground she should run well on return. MARINSKY BALLET joins Danny Morton’s yard and her trial behind Mir was strong. Lands in the right spot and both of her wins have been first-up. TREASURED QUEEN can sit in the box seat and wait for the cutaway to appear on straightening. Attacking the line nicely. SAMARIA next best back into a C1. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – MARRI MARTINI EACHWAY RACE 5 CATCH THE RED EYE trialled nicely behind Tycoon Harry when finishing alongside Twain’s Angel. Beat home Deamber first-up who came out to frank the form last Thursday with an impressive win. Rises 3.5kg into a tougher race but is drawn to get every favour. BEATS OF WAR was a seriously good trial. When CJP got busy he found another gear and really attacked the line. Keep safe. RUSSIAN SNIPER trialled super and then got to the line in a slick section at his return. Scratched from a 6-horse race on Saturday to save for this. MAKE YOUR POINT needs to run out 1200m but his 3 year old form is strong. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – CATCH THE RED EYE WIN RACE 6 SOLDANELLE should be almost ready at her third run in WA/Australia. Brilliant trial over 1000m, chased hard first-up at 1400m and then threw away her winning chance second-up when wobbling around like a drunk. Gets out to a staying trip, has a gear change effected and no doubt Stevie Parnham will be prepared for whatever she throws at him. Right race. RECALLED continues to attack the line full of running. He’ll be winning one of these midweek staying races very soon. CHUCK A LUCK hasn’t seen a 54+ in his entire career. Loved his return in a 66+ behind Starry Heights and Allez Allez. Lots of fun to be had with him in this grade. ZAZA ROCK has done nothing wrong this preparation and is a proven wet tracker if the heavens do open. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – SOLDANELLE EACHWAY RACE 7 KELORA looks just about ready to break through. Has been getting better and better at each run this preparation and last start should have finished closer after finding a fair bit of bad luck and traffic in the home straight. There’s a cutaway in play and when they fan for home he should get a look through them. Going really well. DON’T TRUST JUDAS gets 1.5kg off coming up in grade and has the Winkers going on. Willing to forgive one moderate performance. MASTER ALEX won back to back races on Soft7 ground at 1400m and gets a nice run midfield. LIEUTENANT DUNBAR is honest. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – KELORA EACHWAY RACE 8 RULELEE was backed as if unbeatable last start ($7 into $3.80) and duly saluted. She was drawn barrier 3 in a field of 10 and landed perfectly 1×1. She’s drawn barrier 4 of 10 here and should enjoy a near identical passage in running. Looks like getting every conceivable chance of going back to back. ENTICING beat home Rulelee three starts back and gets a 2.5kg weight swing in his favour. Noted wet tracker and noted back-up horse. Respect. SUCCESS PLAY likely has to park in the breeze outside of Call Again. Always there abouts. FIND YOUR MAN needs the pattern to suit. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – RULELEE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,4,5,8 1,2,4,5,6 1,3,4,7,8 4,9 Market Market
