Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on June 13, 2023June 13, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ANTIQUE MISS ran second in a very similar race to this at her most recent outing. She parked up in the breeze, loomed large on straightening and then mis-strode noticeably at the 150m when put under pressure. Drawn to box seat here, blinkers on and should get every chance. FASHION STAKES finally put it all together last Wednesday when accelerating impressively to get away from maiden opposition. This isn’t much deeper. UNCLE GERARD was stepping from a maiden into a 60+ Graduation when caught wide in the early stages before working to the breeze. He battled on relatively well to finish only 2.5L off them and this small field should suit. SESSWA doesn’t seem to carry weight. She was given every mortal hope by Pike last Thursday but laboured. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – ANTIQUE MISS WIN RACE 2 HEAVENLY LADY has run three good races in her initial preparation. Chased hard behind Fashion Stakes last week and we’ll see the strength of that form in the opening event. Prior to that finished third behind Uncle Gerard and again, that form will be on display in Race 1. She’s drawn a gate to get a nice midfield run and should be there abouts in an open and even maiden. SECRECY really caught the eye at his return to racing. He parked out the back and rattled home over the concluding stages weaving a passage through to run right through the line. Keep safe. SPIRIT OF GERRY kept coming in that same event at odds. PURE QUALITY is drawn a little awkwardly and while no match for Forever Classic fresh still ran well. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – HEAVENLY LADY WIN RACE 3 RED SQUARE is undefeated at trials and looks both powerful and professional. Matched motors with Hanchi in his most recent trial over 1000m at Ascot before Hanchi came out on debut and won on a Saturday by over 2L eased down. He’ll need to step clean and he’ll need to absorb some pressure but he looks a ready made racehorse. WHY ME will be understandably popular coming off a big first-up run on a Saturday when only gunned down late by impressive debutante and stablemate Rope Them In. Wide drawn makes things interesting but parking three deep cover over 1000m at Belmont isn’t a bad spot. SUGARWOOD is quick and will hold a spot. PIN DEEP has race experience and comes back to the short course. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 11 – 5 Suggested Bet – RED SQUARE WIN RACE 4 ON THE FULL was targeted in betting on each and every occasion last preparation. His first-up run was in a 60+ 0MWLY where he was backed into odds on. From there he finished 4L off Moi Choux in a 66+ on a Saturday and then was competitive in a pair of Westspeed Platinum races. This is only the second time in his life he’s been to a C1. Trialled well and has found the right race. CRYSTALIST can park behind the speed and get a lovely run into the straight. This looks a fair bit weaker than the 3 year old 0MWLY he saw last Wednesday. SHEZGOTHALOT is drawn horribly but think the form through the Kelvinator/Sizzle Me Patrick/Madame Magic/Yarralea race will hold up. BELLE’S FANTASY trialled poorly but her race form is strong. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – ON THE FULL WIN RACE 5 FLASH DUCATI has raced in higher grade in his last 8 starts since breaking his maiden. This is in fact the first time in his career that he has been to a C1 and it’s off the back of a strong third behind Iht’s Closing Inn (subsequent winner) and Tallangatta (subsequent winner). Proven form reference, drops in grade, regains the services of stable rider Chris Parnham and looks to have found a very winnable race. FLOPPY is going well without winning. Luckless into third behind I Love Your Smile (off 7 days) and then competitive in a C3 last Wednesday. STREET MASCHINO demolished them on a Heavy9 at Pinjarra last week. COVERT ROSE has blinkers and Pike. Respect. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – FLASH DUCATI WIN RACE 6 FALCON TRADER looks a Saturday horse in the making. He won a maiden beating dual subsequent winner Duchess Of Gossip, ran them ragged in a C1 (fastest L200 after leading) and then was pocketed badly leader’s back at $1.26 in a C3 last start and had to pray for an inside run to appear in the last 100m. Got himself out of trouble to remain undefeated and now gets out to 1400m. Racing like he wants this trip and can lead, breeze, or sit. Hard to beat on his way through the grades. WHAT A PRINCE is honest and consistent. BELLE JOURNEE is a filly with some upside who can win a few this preparation. CANNY CONI comes through a winner producing race at Northam. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – FALCON TRADER WIN RACE 7 KING’S SICARIO comes through the Ihts Closing Inn, Tallangatta race (as well as Flash Ducati in Race 5) and that looks an ideal platform from which to launch an assault on this C3 1400. Comes back in grade, back in trip and is drawn to get a lovely run midfield with cover. He has placed to Rusty Dreams in a 3 year old 1400 which looks excellent form for a race of this nature. SAN FABRIZIO finds his way to WA and while yet to win since arriving in Australia he has run some solid races in far better company than he meets here. Nice trial. TIFF’S LAD is racing consistently well and should get the right run. MY BOY EDDY is proving hard to catch but is talented enough to figure. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – KING’S SICARIO WIN RACE 8 HINT OF MINT resumed in a 66+ 1200 when finishing off strongly late down the centre in a race which was dominated from the front. Went to a 72+ 1200 second-up when finishing only 2.5L off Rokanori. She was only half a length off Featherweight and Man Crush as they went to the line in that event and looks really well placed back into a 0MWLY midweeker. CAPTAIN SHARMANE toyed with moderate opposition last start at Pinjarra. She’s come back a better mare this time in and she’ll get a similar run three wide with cover. TREVERN will march his way across the face of the field and is always there abouts. BIRDS THE WORD tries hard and can come out underneath Trevern to try and find a spot. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – HINT OF MINT WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,4,5,8 1 1,4,5 1,2,3,4 Market Market
