Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview

RACE 1

MEGAMI has won three from seven this preparation and when she’s on song she’s a very sharp little filly. Since they’ve ridden her cold and allowed her to ‘settle’ she has gone to a new level. She’s the kind of filly who can settle back last, wait for the gaps to appear once the field fan across the cutaway and then burst through to victory. She’s a winner with 59.5kg previously and she’s showing no signs of training off. CRUISEY ROY went back to 1100m last start and was always going to be run off his legs behind My Bella Mae, Cut The Talk and Street Parade. This is more his trip. SHE’S FIT was luckless on debut and then struck a leader dominated meeting at Pinjarra on the Scarpside. She’s got X-Factor. IHTS CLOSING INN went well fresh and then to Geraldton for an easy kill.

Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 5

Suggested Bet – MEGAMI WIN

RACE 2

TOO DARDY went around a well supported $3.70 chance on debut off the back of a hot trial at Belmont Park. Sat in the breeze, put the leader away on straightening but was left a sitting duck for La Dette in the concluding stages. Further back in third was impressive subsequent winner Sizzle Me Patrick and the time of the race was 4.5L faster than maiden average. He’s clearly got ability and provided he can overcome a tricky alley should be in the finish. JUST SO SASSY was allowed to stride in her 400m jump out and clocked a sizzling 23.05. They don’t go quicker than that. DRAGONFLIES is a career maiden who went well fresh down the 1000m straight at Pinjarra. SIMPLY ROSSO has trialled well on two occasions. Michael Lane goes at 20% strike rate and 15% POT with his debutantes (last 2 seasons).

Numbers: 5 – 11 – 1 – 7

Suggested Bet – TOO DARDY WIN

RACE 3

WEDNESDAY looks to have found her most suitable race in years. Her last 15 starts have been in higher grade including placing in a C5 and a 66+ at her last two starts. Most recently she savaged the line through heavy traffic in a fast run race behind Metallon. She’s your ideal cutaway mare as she has a short, sharp burst of acceleration to take gaps when they appear. Ridden with patience and confidence she should be bursting through over the last 100m and this is the weakest field she has seen in a long while. Deserves one. REGAL ACCESS only had one start last preparation where he crossed from barrier 10 of 12, lead and kicked clear to win impressively. Logical danger. RUUCA drops back into a C3 and has blinkers re-attached. SQUILLIONAIRE an improver with Pike on.

Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 8

Suggested Bet – WEDNESDAY WIN

RACE 4

MASARU is bursting to win a race. Held up at crucial stages two starts ago when flashing home behind Blue Card and Bandalera Miss before going down a half head at the hands of Django Dream. Victoria Corver claims 3kg in town, she’s riding plenty of winners without a claim in the country and last start was a 12/10 from a tricky spot in running. Mare in form, rider in form, drawn a barrier and only 53kg on her back. Looks a nice set up. COMEALILBITCLOSER knows how to run home into minor money. 1 win from 38 starts and 16 minors to go with it. Showed last start that he stays and is drawn to get the run he needs. LUKE’S PIERRO went around $2.25 in a 54+ last start. Drops 3kg with the Gaerth claim and likely goes round at least double that quote here. Keep safe. MAGIC WHISTLE broke his maiden well and then was thrown into a Saturday race.

Numbers: 8 – 3 – 1 – 2

Suggested Bet – MASARU EACHWAY

RACE 5

EEE PEE CEE went from a maiden win straight into a 0MWLY and ran into emerging filly Megami. Backs up off 7 days, drops back into a C3 and is drawn to lead or stalk the speed. Likely to look the winner on straightening and has always had a following ever since his impressive trials back in his Lindsey Smith days. Think the penny is starting to drop with him. SOLID GOLD steps out to a mile for the first time but gives every indication he’ll see out the trip. From the barrier he should nearly land one out and one back in a position where he can keep Eee Pee Cee in his sights. SINGLETON PARK has put in a number of encouraging runs since arriving in WA. Drops back into a C3 and has the shades re-attached. SNIPPAGEM is a hard mare to run down on her day.

Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 7

Suggested Bet – EEE PEE CEE WIN

RACE 6

TREVELLO put on an exhibition three starts ago and then held his own when fourth in the Mt Barker Sprint behind Cheval De Vaga (since fourth behind The Velvet Queen), River Rubicon (since a 72+ winner) and Kohli. Went to 1500m last start and was never in the race. Back to 1400m, Pike aboard, drawn to wait for the cutaway and in an open and even race without any standouts. Respect. AIYZA didn’t run out a mile last start but gave a decent kick after rolling along throughout. Back to 1400m a big help. KENDEL’S MEE DAD gets some enormous weight swings on stablemates Trevello, Dark Assault and Sneaky Fox from their recent Great Southern encounters over the last few months. Meets them all 5kg+ better from the Classic Rogue race (28 Jan) and 6kg+ better from the Dark Assault race (30 Dec). DARK ASSAULT is talented but drawn tough.

Numbers: 3 – 6 – 1 – 4

Suggested Bet – TREVELLO EACHWAY

RACE 7

VONSNIP jumped out of the ground late in her maiden win and backed it up with a solid third behind Cerridwyn and subsequent winner Lady Tornado. Looks the best form reference for this race, has the cutaway runs available if required and has a senior rider engaged. Stable has been producing consistent winners for months and Brad Parnham (for now) is holding onto the lead in the WA Jockey Premiership. Ticks plenty of punting boxes. DIGITAL MISS dug deep to win last start. She can punch across into a prominent position from her wide gate with most of these looking for a sit. FORTUNE’S LUCK only won a Geraldton maiden but she showed ability in her initial preparation. SEE YA CHAMP is nearly impossible to catch but every now and then she puts in a blinder.

Numbers: 9 – 6 – 12 – 13

Suggested Bet – VONSNIP EACHWAY

RACE 8

DEETEA finished third behind Mia Gusto and then third behind Valsassina in back to back 3 year old Plates. She drops into a C1, gains the services of W.Pike and is a versatile filly who can be ridden on speed or off speed to suit the patterns and play. She’ll be understandably popular. For the non-believers in ‘Pike in the last’ – last 5 WA metro/provincial meetings: Casino Seventeen, High Commission, Megami, Halatorion and Lady Tornado. Pike 5/5. STARRING KNIGHT trialled particularly well under Alan Kennedy at Lark Hill, beating home Stellar Vista who on Saturday ran in form sprinter Halatorion to a nose. Gets a soft run midfield and has a turn of foot. BIRKETT BOY was scratched on Monday to save for this. Super trial and looks progressive. LA DETTE broke her maiden well and the form is quickly holding up (Sizzle Me Patrick won and Too Dardy goes round in R2).

Numbers: 8 – 2 – 3 – 10

Suggested Bet – DEETEA WIN
