Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on January 14, 2025January 14, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PRECIOUS GOD is a nice filly who should have taken a lot of benefit and confidence from her dominant maiden win. She had been settling rearward sin big field sizes and as leaving herself far too much to do. Small field suits and she should safely stay off the fence. RIVETING ROSIE won on debut and was given a good push by both trainer and jockey in post-race interviews. She was strong late and through the line and looks the danger. VIVA MARCONI can lead and control. WHO SAZ YES will wait for the cutaway. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – PRECIOUS GOD WIN RACE 2 ROCKING GEM has the speed to lead, however, there is also the option of handing up and waiting on the cutaway run to appear if there’s too much pressure to her outside. Holly Watson has options and the mare has versatility. CHOP SUEY and ALOT OF ROSES are both last start Pinjarra straight winners. CHOP SUEY’s form has been franked through Just Saint James and ALOT OF ROSES scratched from Saturday to save for this. CATCH THE RED EYE won over 1000m first-up beating Wicked Venom and has raced over further ever since. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – ROCKING GEM WIN RACE 3 SNOW GOD could not have been more impressive at trials. He nearly pulled Joey Azzopardi out of the saddle early before he was allowed to stride forward and he ambled up the home straight in neutral to an extending 3L victory. No blinkers on for race day but should follow Niccimota across and prove very hard to beat. VAIN UNIVERSE was popular in betting on debut and made good ground late behind Alot of Roses. We get a sighter into that form in Race 2. NICCIMOTA is quick but at this stage is only running 850m. CAP CAVOUR found the line well fresh. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – SNOW GOD WIN RACE 4 SHEEZA SHEILA got a mile out of her ground last start but found the line nicely over the last 150m and gave the impression she was looking for further. She’s now out to a mile (distance of her maiden win) and with the rail at 16m with a cutaway in theory they should be able to swoop over them from three deep cover. That’s her profile. CHOUX SHOE has more upside than most of these and will no doubt be popular in betting. Had to dig really deep to win her maiden at the shorts. KING KAWANA brings handy form from Esperance. ROYAL SPLENDOUR next best. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – SHEEZA SHEILA EACHWAY RACE 5 ALL GRUNT is a nice 3 year old resuming. He absolutely bolted in on debut and then was thrown into the deep end when sent straight to a 3 year old Plate on a Saturday at Belmont Park and no match for sharp Pearce filly Perfect Chant. Great placement into a C1 and hopefully by this stage a few have made sweeping runs down the centre because that’s where he’ll end up. THERMOSPHERE LAD was enormous first-up. Just does a lot wrong. RAPID ROCK will win one soon with his racing pattern. AT YOUR SERVICE drops back into a C1 with handy 3 year old form lines. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – ALL GRUNT WIN RACE 6 GREAT DEMON ran a ripper first-up last campaign in a 60+ Graduation over 1400m behind Berbere, to the point where he went around a $3 favourite second-up. Failed to handle the Soft7 conditions thereafter and has since been spelled. This is a nice race for him on paper. Trusting his Good4 and first-up records. MR TALENTINO trialled super and ran really well fresh in a Westspeed Platinum. In for a good prep. BATTLE COMMANDER and TACTICS both come out of a 3 year old Saturday and both should be right in the mix against the older horses. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 4 – 11 Suggested Bet – GREAT DEMON EACHWAY RACE 7 SANTA BRAE was backed as if unbeatable in a 54+ two starts back and didn’t let punters down. Last time out he headed to a 66+ and ran into red hot stayer Rocking Society and highly consistent type Alaskan. Back to his right grade of race. PAIGEY’S TURN doesn’t handle Ascot racing, however, rail out 16m and possible swoopers conditions gives her a fighting chance. CANDLELIGHT SHERIF goes better for CJP than anyone else. TRUEVINSKY next best. Numbers: 2 – 11 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – SANTA BRAE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,5 1,6,7,9 2,4,7,9,10,11 2,11 Market Market
