Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on November 10, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 NO SURRENDER dropped from 1600 back to 1200m last start on Melbourne Cup day in what turned out to be an extremely astute decision by trainer Darren McAuliffe. Lead throughout and dominated on a Soft7 beating home talented types like Testing Love and At War. Rises 4kg but meets a similar quality of line-up and he should again be right in the mix. IRON SHARP was beaten a nose last start by Life For a Life and can easily turn the tables. LIFE FOR A LIFE dug deep to score at Northam but loses Joseph Azzopardi. LASTING IMPACT is improving. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – NO SURRENDER WIN RACE 2 SILENT ACT ran a fast finishing second first-up behind Brave Dream (now a C1 winner) and then ran second to promising galloper Beau Zoom. She is always a risky betting proposition because she knows how to get herself beaten but this looks a nice race for her. STAR SUBJECT hails from the in form Brett Pope yard and in both trials has looked to have natural ability. Can go well on debut. SPIRITED SESSION is drawn awkwardly but looks like he’ll be winning races. MISS LIVINIA was run off her legs on debut. Numbers: 4 – 10 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – SILENT ACT WIN RACE 3 OLDEN has super form for a maiden. Third behind Kissonallforcheeks and Sassy Trader, fourth behind Snickerdoodledandy, She’s God To You and Blow Me Out. If he’s ready he should go very close off those performance. REGAL CITY ran second on debut when leading them for 1190m of the 1200m event. Recent trial was strong at Lark Hill and Chris Parnham is the beneficiary of Alan Kennedy’s continued suspensions with a few nice pick up rides for Ash Maley. Looks like he will roll forward from the middle alley and sit right over the top of the speed. TALLINN ran well first-up behind Iseered Iseered in Kalgoorlie. ALIEN FOM MARS has always promised to win a race. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – OLDEN WIN RACE 4 MISS MARANTA broke her maiden last Tuesday in a Bunbury maiden and now 8 days later finds herself in a C1 at Ascot. Gets some weight relief with the 3kg claim for Laqdar Ramoly and that claim is so luxurious at the moment with the way he is riding. Gets a weight pull off Top Trade for their maiden meeting and this is a great chance to win two on the bounce. TOP TRADE showed versatility last start. Super run when getting to the line full of running and Michael Grantham has him flying. SHOWADDYWADDY is a staying mare who is getting out to the right trip. REVEUSE did a lot of work last start and fought on well. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – MISS MARANTA EACHWAY RACE 5 ALL DAY SESSION is so perfectly placed by Ash Maley dropping back into a C1. He is a 3 year old who has won a 2 year old Saturday beating winners Born to Rule, Billy Ain’t Silly, Bumper Humper and Madam Torio before running second to Clairvoyance when conceding her 4kg. Resumed when third to Chantorque and Charleton Eddie and this is a massive class drop. Blinkers on, Chris Parnham on. He should be hard to beat. EXCERPT was a huge run last start when off the track. Back to 1000m and drawn sticky but talented. LEICA JAGUAR has run some super races in his short career including a second to Miss Conteki. PLAYING RED was horribly unlucky last start behind Belgravia Stakes winner Magical Dream. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – ALL DAY SESSION WIN RACE 6 DAD’S BIGHEADED was on the plain side first-up but in a hot form race containing Em Tee Aye, Empire Reign, Panzdown and Kallaroo. He was then held up at a crucial stage last time out before hitting the line full of running. Up to 1400m is ideal but from the gate will need an ounce of luck from the draw. POWER AND PASSION beat home subsequent Fairetha Stakes winner Kallaroo at Northam. Improved sharply. ISLAND MISSILE is drawn in the carpark but his two WA runs have both been strong. POWERFUL comes from the slowest 1200m race Ascot has seen in a long while but did pick up strongly after being stopped in his tracks turning for home. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet – DAD’S BIGHEADED WIN RACE 7 SMASHING sat three deep the trip no cover and still got the job done first-up. That form is now really enhanced with Alpha and Omega winning a Saturday race on the weekend. Steps straight up in trip and is a C1 filly taking on C3 opposition but with the weight relief and the ideal draw she should take beating. MISS DOMINICAN has the shades added and comes back in trip. Some of her sprinting efforts early in the preparation were excellent. MY FAIR BALENTINE is well placed back into midweek company and gets the senior rider on. KENTUCKY LOVE has found form again. Numbers: 14 – 1 – 5 – 12 Suggested Bet – SMASHING WIN RACE 8 MASQUERADE has had two runs this preparation. Back in September was beaten 1.8L by Long Beach, Condor Heroes and This’ll Testya in a 66+ and then a huge effort last start when settling in a different postcode to the leaders and hitting the line powerfully behind In Love With Paris, Sweet Dreamin’ and Comes a Time. Matched motors (and then accelerated better than) Niccovi and that looks a super form reference for a midweek 0MWLY. MORE ACES hasn’t won in a long time and was a big run against the pattern at 1400m last time out. Back to 1200m he looks ready to win. DAISHIO gets in with a fly weight and a soft barrier. ROSEBUSH really goes for Chris Parnham and she has returned well. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 11 – 12 Suggested Bet – MASQUERADE EACHWAY Quad (R5 – R8) 1 1,4,6,7,8,10 1,5,14 2,4,5,7,8,10,11,12,15,16 Market Market
