Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on March 24, 2020March 24, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 QUEEN BROWN ran into one of the better juveniles we have seen so far this season in Dom To Shoot. Got within a half length of him on debut and now drops into a weaker Wednesday assignment. May get back from the draw but the True position was raced in on Saturday as will be the new norm and that may help those getting off the speed. JUSTHANDY comes out the Supremacy Stakes into a 2 year old midweeker. Starfield Impact has made that form look even stronger winning the Gimcrack. AMERICAN GRIN went around at big prices on debut but hit the line hard. REBEL TAIL was well supported at her return to racing. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – QUEEN BROWN WIN RACE 2 TIME TO SIZZLE is going for a winning hattrick and in a very compressed weight scale she is well placed. Only 58kg after the claim which is the same weight as the maiden filly has to carry. Chloe Azzopardi will let her run and she’ll give backers another big sight. SEMIGEL should be able to stalk the speed from the inside gate and on the quick back-up looks like he finally gets his chance to break through. PURE DYNAMITE is knocking on the door and is ready to win. AT WAR has only been to the races once but it was a very impressive debut. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – TIME TO SIZZLE WIN RACE 3 IMPERIALISM did everything but win on debut. Only had the one trial and then was into his debut first-up no trial. Drawn a gate, William Pike jumps aboard and he looks like being short and sweet. Likely in the red but on the debut effort you would expect him to win. ALIEN FROM MARS has always promised to win a maiden. 1000m might be on the short side and gate hurts but has ability. ROCK THE PLANET draws the outside gate but is probably best ridden for pure speed. DASH TO VICTORY trialled up well. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 11 – 6 Suggested Bet – IMPERIALISM WIN RACE 4 SON OF A GOD looks like making it back to back W.Pike odds on pops and three wins from three starts this preparation. Was slow away last week and then probably doesn’t win without the Wizard aboard. Sure to be lots of race to race doubles going into him at around $2.45. LIL’ RED BIKINI likely comes out running to try and cross them. Capable on her day. DAISHIO is not a weight carrier. Tough for her with 59. NGAWI appreciated racing in C3 company as opposed to C1 as she gets some weight relief and a senior. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – SON OF A GOD WIN RACE 5 OUR IDYLL was good first-up when looming and just looking to run out of condition late in the race. She steps up to a mile here and can race right over the speed. Troy Turner knows the mare and from the gate she could well get across behind Burning Magic and Cocky Dodd and enjoy a nice run. NORDIC KING was flying at them late in a fast run race behind Resistance at Pinjarra. Drops back in grade and looks very hard to beat. BURNING MAGIC is going pretty well and should get a soft lead. COCKY DODD has the world of ability but can be a little hard to catch. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – OUR IDYLL EACHWAY RACE 6 ALTAMONT doesn’t win out of turn but last start was a ‘be on me next start’ kind of run and this looks a suitable assignment for him. There is a query on both the three year olds (Come Right Back and That’s Funny Az) up in grade and so he gets his chance. Will get off the speed but can charge late. OMBUDSMAN is suited in C3 company and can sprint well fresh at a mile. THAT’S FUNNY AZ went 3L faster than average at Bunbury last start, good strong effort from the front. PINK ‘N’ GRAY was a huge query at a 1400 last start but ran it out well. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – ALTAMONT EACHWAY RACE 7 BERET looks like a fourth even money / odds on pop for William Pike on Wednesday and yet another plumb ride. Always hard to step from maiden grade into C1 and win again but this filly has always promised a lot. From the gate she can sit right over the speed and this is not a deep field. NORTON might get under the guard to an extent. Stepping out in trip but has been racing well. RUSH’N MACHINE could find the top for a 3kg claimer who they run for. THE HONEYMAN reunites with Paul Harvey. Big positive. Numbers: 6 – 14 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – BERET WIN RACE 8 GREY ENIGMA will have been in a lot of black books this preparation when racing exclusively out of his grade. A 66+, three 72+ and a 78+ and now he drops into a 60+ NMWLY at his preferred trip of 1400. Three starts ago finished within 3L of Yeah Dardy, Sophie’s Song, Al Di La, Festival Miss, Mystery Miss and Lorentinio and two starts ago second to Harry Thomas beating him Lordhelpmerun and Red Publisher. Looks his best chance of the preparation to date. CONFLUENCE is a newcomer to WA but any of the recent runs are good enough to figure in the finish here. RESISTANCE won well last start and really deserved the victory. NEXT STOP THE MOON can always give cheek if finding the front. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – GREY ENGIMA EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3,4,5 2,5,8 6 2,3,4,5 Market Market
