Scott Embry’s Wednesday Albany Preview Posted on December 24, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 GAUGED was simply no match for Toned last start but back to Albany can turn the tables. TONED is a brilliant old horse. Well over 100 starts. Well over 10 years old. Pateman rode him 11/10 last start and will need to reproduce. READY TO FIRE might be one run short but builds quickly. CARALABEK needs to show something. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – GAUGED WIN Race 2 DANEHILL STORM is drawn the outside gate but has enough speed to offset it. Some of the efforts in first preparation were easily good enough to win this. MORGS FREEMAN was well below expectations first-up. Trialed well, raced very well as a 2 year old but didn’t fire fresh. MESHEKNET should be winning one soon and may find the front. IBIZA is speedy but paddles late. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – DANEHILL STORM WIN Race 3 TEXAN BLITZ may be sharped up a bit by the blinkers. Looked like he was ready to win a maiden but then has gone a little soft last couple. BIG SUMMER will be an eachway chance if he can find the front from an outside gate. DEGREY LADY is worth including in wider exotics. PUSKAS has Pateman on, that’s enough in a weak field. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – TEXAN BLITZ WIN Race 4 WAR KSAR first-up off the back of a nice trial and some of his ‘sprint’ form from previous campaigns suggest he’ll be hard to toss here. PRIX D’EXCELLENCE was beaten a long way from home in the fillies and mares series but Earl O’Loughlin will have his mare ready. SUNSET PETE was poor last start but the riding change is important. ROWIE was supported in a far tougher race last start and could be the blow out. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – WAR KSAR WIN Race 5 NOTTA MOCHA has really stamped himself as a promising horse for the Great Southern region. If he wins this he probably heads to town. CHASING CHAOS has been out of the winner’s enclosure for a long, long while but this is almost as good a chance as he will get. COUNT KALA is his own worst enemy getting so fired up pre-race. Has enough ability. PRINCE FRIAR was not himself last start. Previous efforts strong. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – NOTTA MOCHA WIN Race 6 IONYX won well last start when still doing things wrong but looks progressive and should still be improving into the preparation. TOP AGENT ran a race and a half last start after impressing fresh. BENTLEY’S BROTHER is never far away and gets every possible from the gate. LEXDEN GAMBLER might be wound-up early because he can stay. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – IONYX WIN Race 7 TANGO ORA and ARRUM BOY re-engage for another class of the Great Southern titans. There is nothing between them but with Tango Ora likely to find the front he gets the nod. ARRUM BOY will look to stalk from the inside. POTENT SECRET is probably almost ready to run a race. BLIZZARD EXPRESS is still going great guns as an old veteran. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – TANGO ORA WIN Race 8 WAYCHINICUP is nearly impossible to catch but his racing pattern may well be best suited to a ride with a little patience and style. Kokotajlo is likely to let him find his feet and come with a sustained run. CLASSIC JACK got a long way back at Barker and came late. He looks the danger. BROWSING was left searching for clear running last start when boxed away. DIRAJA JEWEL next best. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet – WAYCHINICUP EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 4 1,3,6 4,5 FLD Market Market
