Scott Embry’s Tuesday Broome Preview Posted on August 19, 2024August 19, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 THERMOSPHERE LAD hasn’t had much luck in the region since arriving. Broke his maiden three starts back and since has covered plenty of ground and been unable to finish in the money. Here he’s drawn barrier 2 and should be able to hold up very close to Calico’s Girl in running and from there can win another. CALICO’S GIRL found the front and at Broome that’s half the battle sometimes. Leads again and takes beating. PUSHOVER ran well fresh and improves for the run. EZELOVE has been freshened since a disappointing last run. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – THERMOSPHERE LAD WIN RACE 2 CHEDDAR BOB looks to have found a very winnable race at Broome. Usually you would say that the Port Hedland / Roebourne form isn’t as strong as Broome but this race contains nearly all ‘newcomers’. He was solid behind Street Maschino and Mr Hollywood over 1600m and drops back to 1435m here. Holds a spot and should go close. TORPEDOMAN is yet to find his feet on the dirt but in a world where he led running he could be a big improver. FRIES WITH THAT continues to run well but tends to get off speed which hurts. QUILLOW was scratched recently and comes into this now 37 days between runs. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – CHEDDAR BOB WIN RACE 3 THE CHIEF JUSTICE will need to run out 1600m and that’s the query given the likely price on offer. He went to the line locked together with a very in form Jackemjames at Port Hedland last start and there’s nothing wrong with that as a form reference, however, it’s the last 200m that will be nervous. OUR NORMAN comes back in trip after fading back through the field in the Port Hedland Cup. MONEY FOR OLD ROPE has been in work for an eternity but continues to put in honest runs. MR HOLLYWOOD savages the line but settles a mile off them midrace. Hard to trust. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – THE CHIEF JUSTICE WIN RACE 4 DISCO DONUT has found his feet on the dirt and is now loving life in Broome. In his last four starts he has finished second to NW Horse of the Year Dark City on two separate occasions and won each race that Dark City hasn’t contested. That’s the case again here and he looks to have another wonderful opportunity to win again. BIN SHALAA hasn’t raced for 25 days and last start finished third behind Disco Donut and Star Soprano. Danger. STAR SOPRANO isn’t showing the same early zip as he once had but is trying hard. DE LOVELY LAD is jump and run. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – DISCO DONUT WIN RACE 5 OUR KIWI PRINCESS should be winning on paper. This field contains a few maidens and she’s a 6x winner, including at Broome this time last year when she won a 55+ 1300m beating Trisuem with 59kg. Is the exact same race 12 months later and actually think the same horse is the danger! She’s likely to open and to jump odds on. TRISUEM hasn’t set the world on fire this season but has no weight and was a big improver behind Red Rebel last start. ROTATION and TOPAZ are still maidens. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – OUR KIWI PRINCESS WIN RACE 6 WAKAN TANKA is capable of parking midfield and working into the race from the 600. No doubt horses like Dark City / No Change / Rogue’s Point will be hard to get over the top of but WAKAN TANKA goes well at the track, goes around nearly double figures and can sustain a run in a high pressure race. Worth consideration. DARK CITY is undefeated at Broome this season and has been carrying weight, running time and winning by margins. This is his acid test but so far he’s been too good for them each and every time. ROGUE’S POINT comes back in distance from the Cups. Don’t mind that. NO CHANGE must jump. If he does he’s a big threat. Numbers: 11 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – WAKAN TANKA EACHWAY RACE 7 SHOOTING KONTIKI will come out positive and look for a spot on speed. Again usually you would say that the Broome horses have the Port Hedland / Roebourne types covered but it looks like the travelling brigade will measure up. He did beat home Dare Me at their last encounter on 14 July at Port Hedland. DARE ME has won since and was a big win at Port Hedland considering she had to wait for the run. Logical danger. ROSE OF DENMARK has been a bit hit and miss this season. GUNNERSIDE has his first start in WA. Keep safe. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – SHOOTING KONTIKI WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2 1 1,2,3,4,10,11,12,13 1,2,4,7 Market Market
