Scott Embry’s Tuesday Broome Preview Posted on August 9, 2021August 9, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 THE WISE ONE is a jump, run 1000m specialist. Won an 1100m maiden when being ridden for pure and blistering speed to give Rosie Mahony her first career winner, ran third behind form horses Slick Unit and Crash Hat Lady in a C1 at 1200m and only two starts ago was too sharp for them in a trophy Race at Derby. C2 back to C1, 1200 back to 1000. Looks the one to run down. MOORUMBINE finished third in the same race last start and will look to hold up leader’s back and stalk the every move of The Wise One. Logical danger. PEARL GIRL is yet to find her feet on the surface. MUST RUSH was beaten a long way out last start. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – THE WISE ONE WIN RACE 2 DANCE COCKEY looks like getting an identical run in transit to what he enjoyed last start when dominating a 58+. Tyla Becker rode him to perfection and shouldered her way into the clear at the top of the straight for an impressive win. See no reason why he won’t be doing the same again from the same map position. SLICK UNIT is no slouch and no doubt Angela Johnston will have her eyes on finding the fence. More likely sits outside of Classy Lassy but will still run a big race coming back to a more suitable distance. CLASSY LASSY had to burn way too much fuel last start. If she jumps to the lead she’ll be there a long way. OLD BAILEY wasn’t too bad last start but the barrier hurts. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – DANCE COCKEY WIN RACE 3 CHEVAL DE VAGA showed a glimpse two starts ago when finishing off strongly behind Big Blows and Slick Unit in a high rating 58+. Dropped back into a C1 last start and was no match for surprise winner Weona Brute when finishing a credible third. Beat home The Fibbonaci by a mile and will no doubt open second favourite behind him again. Gets another great chance. NOBLE SPIRIT has been a model of consistency since joining Darryn Pateman’s yard. Broke through at Derby and then loomed large alongside Warfish last start. THE FIBONACCI hates the kick back. That’s clear from his replays. Very much an all or nothing commodity. STUMBLE comes back to a distance where he won by 4.5L only three starts ago. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – CHEVAL DE VAGA WIN RACE 4 LIQUIDITY gives Peter Hall and his great mates Fiona & Kevin Scott one more chance to team up with a fairy-tale winner in the second leg of a three meeting P.Hall farewell tour which started at Belmont and ends on Saturday with the #Cup. Comes out of a lowly trophy race at Derby but showed enough to suggest that in this thin C1 he could kick up underneath a few of them and surprise. DO YOUR BEST will be looking to jump and run and find the front. If she does, she’s hard to run down. ALL METAL is likely to come across and breeze. From there she’s a live chance. LADY TALENT will go round the roughie. The run three starts ago was a ripper when running past Do Your Best who will be a quarter of the quote. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – LIQUIDITY WIN RACE 5 CRASH HAT LADY has finished in the money at all 5 starts in Broome and looks to have found yet another brilliant race. Rock hard fit, drops back from 1600m to 1300m, has miles more gate speed than the two drawn inside of her and should be able to hold out the early pressure from those drawn wide. Leads and takes running down. ARSINOE has been beaten a long way in three runs this preparation but all of them were in 70+ against the best of the Pearl Coast. No surprise to see her improve sharply at odds. BITOVEMU brings alternate form through Port Hedland but has hit a purple patch and can’t be discounted. SWANKY LASS tracks up in behind them and is much more a 1300m type than an 1800m type. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – CRASH HAT LADY WIN RACE 6 WIENER WALTZ did a great job to keep fighting on last start when ridden aggressively throughout (loved it) to sit up outside of Song of Vincent. Drops down to the minimum and with Colin Haddon getting back onto Desert Thorn there is a 4kg weight swing in his favour for a 1.5L defeat. Mollie Clark gave him a 10/10 last start and if he gets the right run on top of the speed here, he’s a big chance and will go round eachway. DESERT THORN is a Broome track specialist with 8 wins to his name including a previous Broome Sprint win. Impossible to knock the way he’s going and often the weight swings can be overcome in Broome by horses who simply thrive on the surface and he is one of those. MOLTEN needs some luck but if Shaun McGruddy is going the stable must like him. SMUGGLING has a mountain of weight but comes from WFA and Feature Darwin racing which is far stronger than the Broome 70+ form. Numbers: 13 – 6 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – WIENER WALTZ EACHWAY RACE 7 IN THE BAG takes luck out of his racing with his natural on speed pattern. Jess Gray should take him straight to the top and while he’s failed badly at this last two, he’s been on trial at the staying trips. Proven over the mile, should get things his own way in front and will have a big head start on them when Jess Gray starts accelerating at the 800. STEVIE’S WONDER was a remarkable win at his Broome debut. 62kg, first-up no trial since September 2020, settled at the back and was chasing from the 1000. If he reproduces, they’re probably racing for second. NEVARDA should get the same run to last start when gunning down Crash Hat Lady. ALLURING chased hard last start. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – IN THE BAG WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,5,6,7 1,2,3 1,2,4,6,13 2,3,8 Market Market
