Scott Embry’s Thursday Pinjarra Preview Posted on April 16, 2024April 16, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 RED SQUARE is a 2x 2 year old winner who then contested better races than this last preparation. He’s a tough on-speed type who should be suited to straight track racing and trialled well behind a really nice one in Twain’s Angel recently. JANNY was simply too quick for them last week down the 1000m straight in a C1 beating the older horses after being confidently backed throughout betting. Again drawn the ‘wrong’ side but showed blistering early speed to cross 7 days ago. JAZ SESSION won well first-up track/distance and the horse she beat is a pretty sharp maiden in King’s Honour. OCEAN OUTLAW looks far better suited back into a maiden. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – RED SQUARE WIN RACE 2 CHAMPAGNE STREET has put in some big runs from time to time. After her early performances as a 2 year old you wouldn’t think she would still be a maiden at this stage but alas she is. If she reproduces the run that saw her 1L off Tycoon Harry or a head off King’s Parade from last campaign she should prove hard to beat. BATTLE SHOTS improved sharply in the most recent trial and is drawn the outside fence. BRAVE SHOT wasn’t too bad all things considered last start coming down the centre. INCANDESCENT LADY is better than what she fresh. Numbers: 10 – 12 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – CHAMPAGNE STREET WIN RACE 3 CITINO broke his maiden in a C1 back on 11 February but has since been disqualified making him again eligible to return to a maiden. Not only was he first past the post in that C1 he then went on to finish 2.5L off Icebergs in a 60+ Graduation (beat home Alaskan) and then finished third behind Allegro Sonata in a C3 1600. Very thin race and he looks awfully hard to beat. ARAFISIO has some quirks but there’s a level of ability there. Good effort 36 days ago behind Win To Retire. SHOULDER PATCH is one paced. He’s been beaten in a Geraldton maiden and an Albany maiden but this is weak. MILYEANNUP can sprint well fresh. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – CITINO WIN RACE 4 WATCH ME ROCK put the writing on the wall on debut at Pinjarra when sitting three and four deep the trip working when somehow only going down by 1.5L. Then progressed to the Own The Dream Maiden on Westspeed Platinum Day, a maiden that contained subsequent C1 winner Playing Rio, subsequent 60+ Graduation winner Alaskan and also Ascot 1000 Guineas, Natasha Stakes and WA Oaks winner Own The Queen. Like the horse. DIAMOND LIGHT ran second to Hanoi Miss last start and can kick through to lead. DEEP DISCRETION raced like she wanted further. COVENTRY REEF has run well from time to time. Numbers: 5 – 12 – 13 – 2 Suggested Bet: WATCH ME ROCK WIN RACE 5 HOLDOUT trialled well alongside first-up winner Jaz Session and then went to a Saturday 3 year old 62+ Saturday race first-up when beaten 5.5L by Snow Prince and subsequent 60+ Graduation winner Sonoftheboss. This is a much more suitable race for him. Just needs luck from a tricky draw. PETITE VITESSE ran really well on debut when charging to the line behind Centre Bond and subsequent maiden winner Cruise To Rio. Big danger. VERNACULAR trialled really nicely. Watch. DUTCH POR worked hard first-up and faded late. Numbers: 7 – 13 – 14 – 8 Suggested Bet – HOLDOUT WIN RACE 6 HAPPY AS LARRY was 1.5L off Becalotti at trials and she almost won the last at Ascot on Saturday. Has done almost all of his racing in 2 and 3 year old Saturday company and thinking here that he can kick through to lead them and take real running down. Good placement. CRIMMO loomed large but couldn’t go on with it last start. That was a C3 and this is a C1. Should be going close again. MORE THAN ENUFF only got going really late behind Zangief first-up. Came under pressure very early in the home corner, hit a real flat spot, but his last 100 was strong. Better suited out to 1400m by the looks. MAJOR MARIO is consistently thereabouts. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – HAPPY AS LARRY WIN RACE 7 MORE SPECIAL is a jump and run type of filly. She lead a 60+ Grad over 1200m first-up last preparation and was only collared late. She’ll hug the outside fence and she’ll look to run them into the ground. Think she’ll be in front for a long way here. ESTIMATOR has always been well regarded in betting throughout his career and goes really well fresh. Massive danger. CAPRE OMNIA had his first start down the 1000m straight last start when finishing second to Squillionaire in a fast run race behind Prince Ragnar. ROMERO was in that same event and he’s going well. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – MORE SPECIAL WIN RACE 8 BELLE JOURNEE erupted with a big turn of foot last start and while she comes up in grade from a C3 into a C5 she drops half a kilo and maps to get a lovely midfield run in a race with plenty of top end tempo. Always goes around eachway and has always shown ability. Starting to put it all together. MY FURY hasn’t won a race for a while but she’s been a model of consistency since joining the yard of Mitch Pateman. Gets every chance from barrier 1. IMPERIALIZE has returned to form, races on the speed and is drawn to get a lovely run. DIVINE INANNA gets out to 1600m which is a big unknown. She’s tough though. Numbers: 12 – 5 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – BELLE JOURNEE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 7,13,14 1,2,3,4,5 2,3,4 1,3,5,9,11,12 Market Market
