Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on December 5, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 VITAL BLAST has run second at four of five career starts. A little unknown here because he resumes first-up without trial but if he is within a couple of lengths of the leaders can definitely win. SMART FOX was tough viewing for anyone silly enough to launch into $1.45 at York but fair to say he would have gone mighty close. PLANET FEVER has race experience but beaten a fair way. WEE RIPPER wasn’t the worst at trials. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – VITAL BLAST WIN Race 2 POINT TAKEN comes back into maiden grade for the first time this preparation. All three runs so far have been reasonable and against far tougher opposition than she meets here. This is her chance. WEINER WALTZ has shown ability at trials and the horse he ran into at his most recent, Gee Khan, has a lot of talent. SHE’S GOT MERIT has always promised to win a maiden and gets Pike on after a good trial. ALL THAT SIZZLE leads or box seats and is never far away. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – POINT TAKEN Race 3 LUKE’S CHOICE was beaten a fair way on debut but showed enough to suggest that with natural improvement in a moderate to weak maiden could bob up at an eachway price. HIDDEN ADDICTION was a big run two starts ago and then simply never got warm last start. If you can forgive then she is right in it. KEEP’NUPWITHKENDEL and IN THE MOSH PIT both resume and have both been probably better than it looks on paper so far in short careers. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet – LUKE’S CHOICE EACHWAY Race 4 BLACK ATTACK looks to have found another really winnable race here. Her two wins back to back were verging on ‘arrogant’ in the sense that she was crusing to the leader under a hold. Then met a broken open field when Prue tried to run them into the ground. Her sections were still very good. PRESS THE PETAL scratched from Saturday to be saved for this. She is the testing material. DEALING won well first-up at 1700 and looks like leading this at a walk. ASHALILLY next best. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – BLACK ATTACK WIN Race 5 AL CAPITANO was the winner everywhere but the line last start after he loomed the winner. He does get off the speed a bit so the wide draw is certainly not the end of the world. Looks a nice midweek type. FLIRTY FRIARS is not that well suited drawing gate one. Rare get settle and run on late Paul Jordan type with ability. HIGHEST REGARD should lead this and give them something to chase. DED MOROZ can improve with the shades on. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – AL CAPITANO WIN Race 6 SLICED BREAD is only a Geraldton maiden winner but won in style and looks the kind of gelding who could go on with it against the older horses. Trialed like a bomb in blinker and then didn’t wear them on debut in a race which has turned out the hottest form in recent months. STATOCREED was simply outclassed in a strong edition of the Road to Ascot heats. This is a better race. BARTRADER has won two on the bounce and after the claim is well in. INVISIBLE PRO can improve sharply. Numbers: 9 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – SLICED BREAD WIN Race 7 PROZONE may have found his race. His form so far this preparation has been a little below what he showed last campaign but at a mile if he can lead or sit in the breeze should give a sight. ARNIE’S BOY was eager to take a sit last start and it proved the difference. Progressive. ROSIE RED DRESS ran into some brilliant Class 1 types when last in work. Gets back and runs on. DANISH GEM is always a places chance in these types. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – PROZONE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3 1,6,8 1,2,3,9 2,3,5 Market Market
