Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on September 5, 2023September 5, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DEAMBER and MALKAR PINDARI both met last start in the same race behind Catch The Red Eye. They’re drawn alongside eachother here and you know given their last start SP profiles that DEAMBER will go round the better price. Clearly off that first-up run there’s not muchb between them so value wise it’s an easy decision. MALKAR PINDARI was crunched into a wildly short quote last start ($1.32) and never really travelled the winner at any stage. There’s a race in her shortly but she’s been costly over the times. BONDI BUBBLES an improver left alone out in front. BORN AND BREAD has promised to win a maiden for seasons now. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – DEAMBER WIN RACE 2 BIRTHDAY BALLOT was almost on her last chance at her most recent outing but she found just enough traffic/bad luck to justify going one last time with her. She’s now a 14 start maiden but she’s shown sufficient ability to be breaking through. Drawn to enjoy the run fo the race from barrier 4 in a maiden without any stars. IVANAS GIFT split Cut The Cord and Russian To The Bar at her return and we get to see the strength of that form in Race 1 at Belmont on Wednesday. DARK LOOKS has always hit the line well at trials and on race day. DIRTY GIRL ran a cheeky race on debut but wasn’t quite the same at her second outing. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet – BIRTHDAY BALLOT EACHWAY RACE 3 MADE IN MEXICO has been the Lark Hill trial star that most punters have been eagerly awaiting to make his debut. He heads to Northam on Thursday into an 1100m maiden and looks like he’ll very much make his presence felt on debut. Still raw and green but has trial super on multiple occasions now. BOLTA ran fourth on a Saturday at his return to racing and now finds himself back into a maiden. MISS ROCKJOY has raced well as a 2 year old and Sue Olive’s fly fresh. VERNACULAR has shown enough at trials to respect her on debut. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 7 – 12 Suggested Bet – MADE IN MEXICO WIN RACE 4 STORM COMMANDER was scratched from Saturday to save for this race at Northam on Thursday. He’s drawn to get every chance from barrier 3 and only two starts ago on a Saturday he beat home subsequent winners Swim Through and Little Strawberry. Great placement to sneak hi back into a C5. EEVALINA showed she’s going to measure up in town when they decide to take her there. Only her third outing for Danny Morton and already an impressive winner. Looks the obvious danger. KELVIN showed something last start and the market seems to love him. ENTICING is going along alright. Just needs to stay in touch in the early stages to play a part. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – STORM COMMANDER WIN RACE 5 VALDARENA is one that many have been waiting to get back to the races. Massive on debut down the 1000m straight at Pinjarra and then far from disgraced when running home nicely into second behind sharp mare Becalotti. AUTO SPARK and MONTY ZOOMER give Dion Luciani a two-prong speed attack on this 1100m maiden. AUTO SPARK has only 52kg on her back after the Madi Derrick claim and trialled nicely behind the impressive debutante and stablemate Oscar’s Fortune. MONTY ZOOMER has had a pair of 1000m trials and has only been run over late in both of them. Should bounce out and put himself in a spot. HIGHEST AWARD beat home Valdarena in her trial win. Numbers: 6 – 12 – 11 – 9 Suggested Bet – VALDARENA WIN RACE 6 FIVE DOWN put the writing on the wall last start with a second placing between Hemlock Stone and Identifier who both race on Wednesday at Belmont and will both be favourite in their respective C1 and maiden races. Happy to follow that form through and suggest that he’ll be hard to get past. FULL OF MERIT hasn’t been seen at the races for 6 weeks since running a brace minor placing behind Silver Back Jack. Likely has to sit up outside of Five Down. TONIS SPIRIT arguably should have won first-up. Just found traffic at a crucial stage after settling rearwards. SIMPLY races like he’ll need every inch of a mile. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 7 – 11 Suggested Bet – FIVE DOWN WIN RACE 7 MISS INTENTION is double accepted on Wednesday at Belmont and on Thursday at Northam. This looks the weaker of the two races and while she’s drawn wide it’s her natural racing pattern to get back regardless of where she’s drawn. If it’s an outside fence kind of meeting at Northam it’ll bring her right into this. Ran home brilliantly last start when the shades went on. SKETTA drops back into a C3 after contesting two Saturday races so far this preparation. Excellent placement. SNIPS ROCK bolted up to them last start but clearly didn’t stay. Back in trip, keep safe. PRO IS HERE went very close last start. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – MISS INTENTION EACHWAY RACE 8 RUBY NOIR put the writing on the wall two weeks ago with a solid second behind Niigata where they cleared out from the rest. Was $3.60 into $1.90 last Wednesday and didn’t let her loyal following down with a gritty win. Up to 61.5kg and drawn out in barrier 11 of 13 but she’s back in form and usually holds it once she finds it. ARNRAY can be a little hit and miss but with the right run he’s a tough stayer. FORLANE can show a big turn of foot for this grade of staying race. Capable of matching motors with Ruby Noir. KOLCHINO steps out in distance and has been racing well for the new stable. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – RUBY NOIR WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 6,9,10,11,12 5,7,9 1,4,5 1,2,4 Market Market
