Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on September 12, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 SOY TAN RAPIDO gets another wonderful chance to break her maiden status. Has the speed to lead but if she gets crossed still has the cutaway option turning for home. Fence was hot last week. DEACALDA trialed well and has W.Pike engaged for her debut. Definitely the danger. OVERTHRONE has got better with every trial and think she will be one to keep improving with racing. ADMIRAL HUSSON was a huge drifter first-up and ran accordingly. Improver here. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – SOY TAN RAPIDO WIN Race 2 ARGOON is certainly not a Durrant top liner but in a race without legitimate winning chances ticks the most boxes. Blinkers on, perfect draw and Pike. Won’t find a race easier than this. LADY VITAL trialed well and took that to the races first-up with a nice effort. FOXY DREAMER was lucky not to lose the jockey at the 500m mark last start, races more tractably and can improve. BLUE TRACER is a perennial maiden but is consistently hitting the line. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – ARGOON WIN Race 3 PADDY O’FURNITURE was a big run on debut when caught in the wrong part of the track and then missed the kick at Belmont badly in a questionable start to the race and still went close. If the favourite has a chink in her armor he can win. SOPHIE’S SONG was brave in defeat at her most recent. Lead them up, ran time in front and was a sitting duck to be run down. Drawn awkwardly and will likely be very short. GAELIC STAR can certainly give some cheek if he found the front. BLACK FILOU should improve as they step out in trip. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – PADDY O’FURNITURE EACHWAY Race 4 LADY SASS has the True Defender form which looks as though it could easily produce a couple of winners at this meeting. Unlikely to be a betting proposition at the shorts but should be winning. BRELETTA FIVE trailed well for a race of this distance and with a soft run just off the speed could be a blow out at odds worth considering. ZETORIO was a nice enough effort at Lark Hill when making ground in a fast run trial and then on debut was making a run when he got chopped out and was not fully tested. ONYA HEAD an improver on a dry track. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – LADY SASS WIN Race 5 GRAND DESIGN has trialed well in blinker and again most recently without them. Extremely well bred type and gets a chance to sit over the speed and give a big sight on debut in what will be an electric form reference. CUP NIGHT is a quality animal and worth following this preparation. Trialed very well but gets back. MYSTERY MISS will concede the leaders a big head start from the gate but watch her storm. Another worth following. DANCING JACK is likely to be allowed to really run along in front and is quick. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – GRAND DESIGN EACHWAY Race 6 ORIENTAL ROSE is likely to be given every possible favour in the run by a red hot Willy Pike. If they’re coming down the outside he’ll sit off the fence and if the cutaway is hot he’ll wait for it. This looks her race. TWENTYTHREE RED was far from disgraced in the same race but again draws awkwardly. Likely rolls forward to find a position. LUCKY ESCAPE is a get back run on type who will continue to step out in trip. MUSKEBELLO was a huge effort last start but may just be a wet tracker. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – ORIENTAL ROSE WIN Race 7 FORK HANDLES ran into the incredibly talented filly Dance Music first-up this preparation and then duly saluted last start in stylish fashion. Either leads them up or box seats and waits for the cutaway, hard to beat. CAPE LADY finds yet another home and if she can recapture her best would win but it’s been a while since her debut win in October 2016. BRIAR WOOD trialed like a horse who will win a few provincial type races this campaign. DEMI GO ROUND was a fair run fresh and can improve again. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – FORK HANDLES WIN Race 8 TIME TO TRADE looks to have this race in the bag if he can simply reproduce his effort of 7 days ago. Lead them, ran time and absolutely bolted in. This race is no tougher and he should simply be too quick for them. ARNO THE FOX will settle midfield and could get a fair way back in a fast run race but shoots up along the cutaway. WISE MONKEY won well on the same day as Time to Trade but their times are simply worlds apart. APOLLO is suited over further but is fresh. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – TIME TO TRADE WIN Race 9 MAGIC LAS VEGAS finally found a race where he could sit in the slipstream of a leader and then hit the front at the perfect time. This maps identically for him and he could make it two on the bounce. ABELDANE was brave in that same race. He only knows one way and that’s to lead and roll. Wins another very soon. NAVY BLUE gets back in his races and is going well enough to give this a shake. STAR OF VEGAS comes back from Broome for a new stable and is capable. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – MAGIC LAS VEGAS WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 8 1,2,3 3 3,4 Market Market
