Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on September 13, 2022September 13, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LACED UP HEELS was well thought of on debut in a 3 year old maiden which many will be keen to follow as a form reference. The winner Divine Belief went around on the third line of betting on debut in a 2 year old feature and the race contained some very good triallers including Malkar Pindari, Laced Up Heels, Eyeshadow and Noteworthy. Got no luck on debut and still looked to have plenty in the tank. DESERT NYMPH comes through the same race and ran well at a big price. CALIFORNIA RISING ran into some sharp types in his early 2 year old career. CAPTAIN CROCKET may need a bit further but like the way he hit the line at trials. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – LACED UP HEELS WIN RACE 2 SESSWA finished fourth on debut behind Top Of the Pops and then at only her second start finished second to Swear To God. That looks great form for a 3 year old maiden and from the inside gate she should get every chance to return a winner. Coming off a similar spacing to stablemate Tiffany Street who ran well on the weekend fresh. MALKAR PINDARI comes through the Divine Belief/Laced Up Heels race and was excellent. The barrier makes things harder but she’s clearly well above average. Keep following her. EYESHADOW is quick and could easily find the front and keep kicking here. LINDEN LADY can position up well and will be hitting the line hard. Another good 3 year old maiden form race. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – SESSWA WIN RACE 3 TIMELY ADVICE is the half sister to Timely Outburst and looks to have a decent percentage of her ability. Won a 930m trial down the back straight beating impressive first-up winner Does He Know and then was under a hold when fourth behind Yes Of Course (racing on Wednesday at Belmont). Brad Parnham riding 54kg on a Thursday is a big indication of expectations. GIVEMEONEREASON will take beating. Drawn to get a gun run, trialled the house down and was well thought of on debut in the Perth Stakes at Ascot when jumping a $5.50 chance. They look the big players. EXCELTRAIN has only had one public appearance and looked sharp. PRIMATIVE shouldn’t be a maiden too long. Numbers: 10 – 8 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – TIMELY ADVICE WIN RACE 4 FLY AWAY HOME broke through last start breaking his maiden in style. He sat in the box seat, got around heels and then let rip with a short, sharp burst of speed to put the race away quickly. Gets into a C1 with only 57.5kg because of the 3 year old allowance and maps to get a similar run in transit. Hard to fault. QUEEN ALINA has to concede him a head start and concede him weight but she’ll only get stronger and stronger as the distances increase. TUSCAN HOLIDAY won well this track and distance last start. DO IT RIGHT has come back in career best form. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – FLY AWAY HOME WIN RACE 5 BOY BLUE comes through the Fly Away Home/George Gently maiden which is a key form reference race for Thursday’s program (tipping all three to win). Was given a peach on debut when lobbing fifth with cover from barrier 12/14 #Pont. Hit the line well and gave every indication that he would only improve with more ground. Gets those conditions here and think he’ll be going close in a moderate maiden. ANNA’S BOY continues to find one better than him and the wide draw doesn’t make it any easier for him. MISS INTENTION has been hitting the line full of running throughout the preparation. BAILEE’S PRIDE an improver with more time to find his feet. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – BOY BLUE WIN RACE 6 STRIKE NOW missed the top two for the first time in his life most recently when finishing fourth behind Let’s Galahvant, Ain’t No Other Man and Astro Warrior. The way he raced suggested he was looking for further and Jason Miller immediately takes him out to a mile. Maps well and looks the one to beat. SPEEDY MISS ran well behind He’s A Lucky Lad and Indominus last Wednesday. Should get every chance from the draw. CALL AGAIN finds a race where he can roll to the top and dictate. WINE NIGHT is a capable mare who got no luck last start. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – STRIKE NOW WIN RACE 7 GEORGE GENTLY looks to have found his race. Hopefully by race 7 on Thursday the form around Fly Away Home and Boy Blue is looking particularly strong and from the ideally barrier Laqdar Ramoly should have him positioned up and ready to strike. Great opportunity for him. FILTHY HABITS ran his race in patches on debut. Think the extra trip suits. SECRET IDENTITY comes through the Devine Belief/Malkar Pindari/Laced Up Heels etc race (can you tell I like that formline?) STARCHIENNE ran well on debut. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – GEORGE GENTLY WIN RACE 8 DEFENDING won a C3 at Belmont when wide and working throughout and then was far from disgraced in a Westspeed Platinum behind Let’s Galahvant, Ain’t No Other Man, Astro Warrior and Strike Now. That form is on display in Race 6 and if holds up he’ll have plenty of admirers. CIVVY STREET looks the danger. Comes through the same race as Defending and didn’t get a clear crack at them over the concluding stages. Getting very close to another win. NIIGATA has copped some bad luck in her last few runs. Going well enough. GRACE DU ROI is a lightly raced mare who can sprint well fresh. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – DEFENDING WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,4 1,4 2,7,8,9,10 1,4,7 Market Market
