Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on November 30, 2021November 30, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GREAT FORTUNE looks the one to beat in a fairly moderate mile maiden. William Pike can have him siting just behind the likely leader Noble Scot and from there he has the race at his mercy. The way he has been racing suggests that the mile is exactly what he is looking for and he can get punters off to a flyer. NOBLE SCOT should be kicking through to lead and provided he runs out a mile he could prove hard to run down. Likely to be left alone out in front and gets things cheaply. From there Holly Watson controls the race and he can start to sneak away before the corner. ART WARRIOR is looking like he will need closer to 2000 than 1600. Has a level of ability. IDLE STAR was better last start. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – GREAT FORTUNE WIN RACE 2 HEAVENLY WATERS is a jump and run filly who will always be hard to run down in these 1000m scampers. If Northam is going to be hard and fast on Thursday that will suit Roy Rogers and Maddy Cornick. Saddle slipped sideways last start and put her at a distinct disadvantage over the concluding stages and she still kicked and almost pinched it. Straight to the front and don’t look back tactics likely to be adopted again. BLAZING BILLY is well placed coming back to C3 company as a 60+ Graduation winner over the winter. Capable of carrying the weight. AMERICAN QUEEN is a better love story than twilight as Boy Hill attempts to win his first race as a trainer. SHINJU will settle at the read and be saved for one run. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – HEAVENLY WATERS WIN RACE 3 BEAUTY IN ME hit the line hard on debut over 1000m behind Thomas Magnum and Dance Session. Last time out was sent to the front by Pike in an attempt to pinch a break on Cold Shizzle. Like the tactics but wasn’t enough. Think Cold Shizzle is pretty handy and the form through Thomas Magnum and Dance Session is more than handy too. PLAYZ WITH FIRE trialled like a filly who would be winning races in her first racing preparation. Barrier isn’t any help but looks talented enough. DADIRRA was only fair last start. Prior to that she got within half a length of Frigid and the run the start prior only 3.5L off The Front Bar is probably even better. Numbers: 7 – 9 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – BEAUTY IN ME WIN RACE 4 SWEET ADMIRATION comes from a slick trial behind handy types including impressive debutante Lady Tornado and debut winner Marinsky Ballet. She was finishing off powerfully in that trial and looks to have a fair future. Rob Gulberti starting to wheel out some nice trailers. BRING THE BLING was stopped in her tracks on debut at Narrogin and picked up impressively late once she got clear. From the inside draw she can position midfield and with clear air looks to have a turn of foot. WISE WORDS ran second to Magic To Exceed and second to Searchin’ Roc’s as a 2 year old. On race form alone you would think she’ll be going very close, but then what do you do about the trial? She was beaten 11L and the winner of the trial went under at Albany on debut. In two minds. STAR SOPRANO was well supported in betting first-up on Melbourne Cup Day when settling further back than anticipated and finding traffic in the home straight. Numbers: 13 – 10 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – SWEET ADMIRATION WIN RACE 5 TOO MUCH TALK showed a glimpse at trials when finishing second to Magical Gem and beating home a few reasonable trailers/maidens from Adam Durrant and Jason Miller’s yards. Went around 30-1 on debut and finished only 2.5L off Cold Shizzle and Beauty In Me when recording the third fastest L600 of the race behind Darn Noble (form on display Wednesday at Belmont) and Cold Shizzle. Better drawn, benefit of race experience and a weaker line-up. CARLIN ROAD beat him home in the same race so if you have a liking for Too Much Talk you have respect for Carlin Road. IT’S JUST A GIFT is quick. TIGER MOVE was set a task first-up in a 58+. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – TOO MUCH TALK WIN RACE 6 GINGER SENORITA looks a great opportunity for returning hoop Ben Kennedy to remind punters and trainers of his ability. Can ride and this mare trialled up nicely for her return to racing. From the barrier she can stalk the speed and she has shown ability in the past. ISOLA BAY is double nominated for Wednesday at Belmont (1300m 3yo 0MWLY) and this C1 1300 at Northam. You would think that they will likely scratch from Wednesday and tackle the easier assignment and if they do then he is a decent chance of leading and winning. Did what he had to at Geraldton and think the second horse goes alright from that race. YUNA MAILMAN parks up on speed and gives a sight. IMPRUDENT will have last crack at them. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – GINGER SENORITA WIN RACE 7 CREATOR has had 9 starts in Western Australia: 5x 72+, 3x 66+ and 1x Graduation 60+. He is the winner of a 66+ and a 72+ and rose to a m77 rater. The first-up run this preparation was huge behind Secret Plan and since then he hasn’t really fired, but behind Comfort Me who went on to run second in the Railway Stakes. Team Gangemi are flying and this is brilliant placement. Versatile and can be ridden forward or rearward. Placement/10. THE VERDICT got under the radar a few times when last in work. Capable mare who can go through the grades this time in. BLAZING TYCOON had been promising to break through for a while and finally got the job done last start. Can go on with it now. ZACKARIAH BEAU can improve quickly into preparations. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – CREATOR WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,9,10,13 5,6,7 1,2,3,5,6 1,4 Market Market
