Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on May 26, 2021May 27, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PINK CARATS looks to have found his race. Was a shade slow/awkward away last start and got shuffled back further than anticipated. Once he was able to find a position Nowhiteflag was rolling out in front and getting things entirely his own way. Pink Carats still made a run at him in the home straight and now looks to have found a great race to break through. DARN NOBLE looked to have ability at trials and is drawn well. CHIX FLIX has impressed at three runs back this campaign and gets the popular claim for Lucky Ramoly. SAFE REST was scratched on Wednesday to save for this. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – PINK CARATS WIN RACE 2 MILITARY BEAT wasn’t disgraced in a few races in her initial preparation. The best of them was when third behind Ready to Ride and Blue Eyed Girl. Clearly there’s some big questionmarks over the quality of the form but her recent 400m jump out was encouraging and she strikes a very winnable race at her return. MISS SILVERSPRINGS was given every chance on debut and faded. Tipped out and returns here for a powerful combination. COLOUR ME SON has been around the place in provincial and country maidens so far in his career. NOBLE KNIGHT looked to have ability in the recent trials. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – MILITARY BEAT WIN RACE 3 RENEGADE RULER has put the writing on the wall at his last three starts. Fourth behind winners Big Screen, Gee Force and Piccola Signora, second behind Piccola Signora and then last start sat three deep working throughout and loomed the winner before being zapped on the post. Steps out to a staying trip, looks like he’ll stay all day and is drawn a gate. Pateman times his run perfectly to pick up the ride. WHAITIRI was a stiff view in the concluding stages last Thursday for her loyal following. Looks a filly with a sustained turn of foot who will be wining a few races this prep. SHYSTER can roll forward and make his own luck. BRAVE BATTLE is a battler but that doesn’t mean he can’t out grind them. Numbers: 6 – 12 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – RENEGADE RULER WIN RACE 4 BENJIS looked to have some ability at trials. Was consissntely hitting the line under a hold from Steve Parnham and then on debut probably wins with one more stride. Was jumping out of the ground after settling toward the rear and was a blackbook effort. With natural race experience he can definitely prove hard to beat at his second career outing. ACTING GOD has done nothing wrong and continues to knock on the door. Great opportunity to settle over the top of the speed here and should get every chance. SPRING TO LIFE ran out of his skin in a 3yo 62+ on Saturday. If he backs up off 5 days he’ll have a stack of admirers. VITAL TIMES went close on a few occasions last campaign. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – BENJIS WIN RACE 5 MY MATE makes his debut for one of the best jockey/trainer POT combinations in the State. Over the last 750 days (massive sample size) they have combined at 23.7% winning strike rate and an impeccable 19% POT. Drawn a gate, trialled well on a few different occasions and looks like 1300m is an ideal trip to kick start his career. BIG BREAK was given every possible by Brad Parnham last start, first 700m 7L slower than average. Gave a kick and went close but was fully entitled to do so. PLATINUM LABEL comes from the same race and ran his usual honest race. STARRY SESSIONS an improver at odds. Numbers: 8 – 10 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – MY MATE WIN RACE 6 STAR STORM gets the important 3kg claim for Holly Watson. Rarely do apprentices strike at 10% plus but that’s exactly what she is doing and punters are quickly starting to realise that her 3kg claim is fast becoming a profitable betting commodity. Drawn awkwardly but with the weight relief and the tactical speed she possesses if she can cross to the top she’ll be hard to beat. BRING ONE HOME was not entitled to finish off as well as she did on debut. Looks a handy filly in the making. MR FAHRENHEIT hasn’t been seen for a long while and may need the run. Showed glimpses as a 3 year old. QUINTUS is no star but gets every chance from the draw. Numbers: 9 – 10 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – STAR STORM WIN RACE 7 FIRST LAW is extremely well placed by the Simon Miller yard. After the claim only rises half a kilo coming from a Saturday 3 year old 62+ back into an all age C3. Ran second behind Son Son first-up and then ran fourth behind Sheza Chalmer, Hows the Serenity and Phanta last time out. Great form for a Thursday Northam race. NURHACI is low flying but this is definitely harder than a 58+ at Albany. Good opportunity for Victoria Corver. OLGA LOUISA can be a hard mare to catch but on her day she’s electric. TO RISE AGAIN was a brilliant trial. Drawn to stalk and may be forgotten by the market. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – FIRST LAW WIN RACE 8 MAN OF THE HOUR ran well first-up behind stablemate Showadywaddy, beating home subsequent winner Said No One Ever and minor place getter last Wednesday in English Heritage. Should land a lovely position in running and be in the finish. PRIZE PURSUIT hasn’t put a foot wrong this campaign. First-up ran second as one of the few on speed horses to battle on, second-up ran second again to New Amsterdam (beating home Empire Reign) and then last time out was solid behind Butterlea Lad. C3 back to C1 and drops 2kg. TRADEM IN has been building and building this campaign. Looks like he needs the mile (at least) and from the draw he’ll lob out the back and make a sustained run at them. SOVIET SPY had to overcome some traffic issues last start at Albany. Talented type on the rise. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – MAN OF THE HOUR EACHWAY RACE 9 BUTTERLEA LAD has always been a talented front runner. When he finds the fence, he’s awfully hard to beat. In this race he’s likely to have to face the breeze with Super Teroitoa drawn underneath him and Tyla Becker not looking the hand-up type of young apprentice. Regardless of having to breeze he looks hard to beat after his strong return to racing when leading throughout in an overall time 3L faster than C3 grade. Can be competitive in town. MAGIC WILL REIGN was excellent first-up in a 72+. Finds himself two starts later in a C5. Keep very safe. ARNIES BOY was huge last start when sitting three, four and five deep throughout. SPEEDY MISS is always a chance in this grade. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – BUTTERLEA LAD EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 9,10 1,2,4,5 1,2,4,5,6 1,2,3,4,6,7,9 Market Market
