Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on July 17, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 PIP is a tiny little filly who will be dwarfed by other runners but springs the gates incredibly fast and will lead them on her ear. From there they have to run her down and her recent trial at Lark Hill suggests she’ll take catching. WORTH A RISK is a well bred daughter of Written Tycoon. Not knocked around in any of her recent trials. Settles off them and comes hard late. BRUCE ALMIGHTY has run two reasonable races and sits on speed. CABLE GUY wound up nicely when fully tested in a recent trial. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – PIP WIN Race 2 PROCONSENT has produced a number of encouraging trials. Sits right over the speed and can win on debut. The way he has been jumping you would imagine he leads if McGruddy wants to be there. MIMS WIN runs around like a drunken sailor and is still very raw but shows a nice turn of foot. WAR ANTHEM was well supported first-up and given a peach in behind runners but failed to adequately accelerate along the cutaway. Interesting to note that Whiting jumps ship. ANGEL JUPITER has been disappointing this preparation. Fresh and with no weight can improve. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – PROCONSENT WIN Race 3 MISS FLAMBOYANCE returns to the races first-up without a trial and falls into a very weak maiden. On debut ran fifth beaten only 4 lengths to Speedy Miss, Minika, Dani Bella and Light My Day who have all won races. Reproducing that run she would go very close. OUR MATE BOOTS should lead and be given every possible. TRIPLE PLAN went well enough on debut and now has Pike aboard. RICH TURF showed ability in her first few starts but has really hit a wall form wise. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – MISS FLAMBOYANCE EACHWAY Race 4 SON OF THE SUN is certainly no star but this is one of the weaker maidens he’ll ever contest. From the outside gate expect Turner to look for the front and from there he should contest the finish. BEANIE was set alight last start with a sustained run before fading. Showed a bit and backing up off 7 days he draws a gate to sit closer. PRAIRDY improved last start but has had a fair few chances. LOCKLEAR caught the eye in a 1000m race but draws awkwardly. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 12 – 11 Suggested Bet – SON OF THE SUN EACHWAY Race 5 REDMILL was far from disgraced last start when running third to Michelle Ma Belle and Worth Square. They both look like reasonably capable types and drawing gate 1 can sit behind the leaders and give a sight. RAYMONDO looks like he will stay all day. Very one paced and up to a mile suits. AMILLIONITE has looked the winner in all three races so far this preparation before being nailed. Wins one soon but will punters keep buttering up? AL CAPITANO is going reasonably well for his new stable. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – REDMILL EACHWAY Race 6 HERE COMES LENNI looks the winner on paper. Was a good effort last week in his first start over a genuine staying trip in WA and now drops from a Class 3 into a Class 1 and only goes up 0.5kg. The winner will go onto Saturday grade from that race and this is a far inferior field. WE’LL MEET AGAIN could get under the radar. Put in some consistently good runs in far tougher grade earlier in the preparation. BLACK CHIPS has come back to racing well after a long absence. Building. SAXY FILLY is whacking away alright and this isn’t a strong race. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 13 Suggested Bet – HERE COMES LENNI WIN Race 7 SAX ON QUE has put the writing on the wall at two starts for the Alan Mathews yard. First-up was held up at crucial stages and was taking ground off a nice filly late and then second-up showed it was no fluke with an equally good performance. KLEVA KEZZA sits over the speed and she does seem to enjoy the Northam surface. Getting close to a win. DELANEY put in some eye catchers last preparation in far tougher grade than this. FLYING TARGET sat deep the trip last start, forgive and she’s right in this. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – SAX ON QUE EACHWAY Race 8 NICKEL QUEEN was scratched from a winnable 1000m straight race last week to be saved for this. Given a quiet trial first and then a solid hit out second trial. Should lead this field from the inside and prove very hard to beat. ASCOT GOLD is going very well and after the claim is well weighted. Palise will need some luck but if he sits in the breeze he can win. EUPHONIOUS didn’t go a yard on a rain affected track fresh. She is better than that. SHE’S A GALAH has a turn of foot which will see her winning more races. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet – NICKEL QUEEN WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3,5,7 1,6 1,2,3,10 1,3,6 Market Market
