Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on May 29, 2019May 30, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 SIR MAMBO should prove awfully hard to beat after two excellent runs down the 1000m straight at Pinjarra to open his campaign. Round the bend for the first time should settle over the speed and prove too strong for a moderate bunch. PATY’S FORECAST trialed well for debut and draws nicely. MISS QUOTED has her own racing pattern against her. Has ability but lacks any tactical speed. ASCOT GOLD would give cheek if crossing. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – SIR MAMBO WIN Race 2 SEVEN CASTLES jumped odds on in a Saturday 3 year old race first-up last preparation off the back of an enormous trial. Even though he missed the money in that race a repeat of that performance would be good enough to win this. First-up, no trial here on paper he looks as being Paul Harveys first winner back in the saddle. WEINER WALTZ likes to get off the speed but should close off well. WAR IN PARADISE was well thought of on debut but failed to fire a shot. EMERALD ROSE will pick one up soon but is no star. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – SEVEN CASTLES WIN Race 3 SNOW BAMBOO is racing well since returning to racing. Up to a mile looks to be in her favour and even though she has been settling off the speed there is no reason why she couldn’t roll forward here to find a position. ARTIE’S JEWELS is his own worst enemy. He runs around badly. Should be winning this but hard to jump into one odds on who rolls about. CALAG out to a mile is interesting. Could lead them for a fair way. RAYMONDO looks very one paced but strikes a weak maiden. Numbers: 12 – 8 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – SNOW BAMBOO EACHWAY Race 4 SERENITY BAY likely opens somewhere around the $1.50 mark and that seems about right. She should safely sprint over these, even if she is forced back from the draw. RETURN A SMILE caught the eye on debut and looks the logical danger on paper. CASH ME OUTSIDE is yet to show her best, trials suggested she had a bit of ability. EMPOWERED next best. Numbers: 9 – 3 – 12 – 2 Suggested Bet – SERENITY BAY WIN Race 5 MEGADON was a good enough effort in a C3 first-up to suggest that dropping back here to a C1 and staying at the same weight after the claim will be very hard to hold out. No stars in this, he should position just off the speed and get every chance. GEOGRAPHE BAY box seats and has been racing well. JUST FRIARS fought them off last start and should nearly lead again. FRENCH TOAST the X-Factor runner. May need further. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – MEGADON WIN Race 6 MATTY’S CHOICE gets another chance. Jade McNaught landed in a lovely spot early last start but he got continually shuffled back in running and never got a chance to really wind up. Senior on in a weak race, one more go. GOLDEN ARCHES was well found last start and won impressively. Can get a similar run in transit here. LANGLEY is ultra consistent, rolls forward from the awkward gate. GOODLUCK SIMBA has won stronger races than this in his career and sharp improvement wouldn’t surprise. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – MATTY’S CHOICE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 8,12 9 2,3 FLD Market Market
