Scott Embry’s Thursday Narrogin Preview Posted on January 16, 2024January 16, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ROCKABYE BONNY resumed over 1720m when second behind Sound The Charge, beating home fellow rival War Tactics in the process. Should only improve first-up to second-up, is drawn to park right over the top of the speed and only rises half a kilo. Placed twice now at Narrogin which is important as some horses handle the downhill and others don’t. NAUGHTY LOVE showed something last start finding the line late. Gives the impression she’ll appreciate some ground. WAR TACTICS has a tongue tie added after going from travelling to gone in a stride last start. THE CANDY KID will keep whacking away. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – ROCKABYE BONNY WIN RACE 2 JATS finished third behind Special Heart and Don’thinkjustdrink down the 1000m straight two starts back. Was beaten a long way most recently but behind Lord Shiva and Pavavero Princess. That’s lengths and lengths better form than most of these bring. MAKE MINE SUPER has always shown glimpses of ability including running second at Pinjarra behind Ruler Rocket. DESERT SLEEVE can look to hold up from the inside. RUSTIC ROSE is currently C1 but if she was to gain a start she’d be a reasonable chance in a race like this. Grows a leg in the maiden handicaps. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 1 – 11 Suggested Bet – JATS WIN RACE 3 ELBOW LOUNGE won a 1190m maiden handicap at Narrogin two starts back and then more than held his own when finishing third behind Snippy Which and Uncle Gerard. If Snippy Which comes out and wins at $1.60 at Pinjarra on Wednesday in a C3 then the form will look good come Thursday’s c46+. ROCKSTAR STATUS won impressively at her first start for new trainer Kevin Mahoney. She’s a very capable mare and looks back to somewhere near her best. Big respect. TALKING HEADS is always competitive at this level and can march across from out deep. GREAT HEIST trialled really well for his return. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – ELBOW LOUNGE WIN RACE 4 AUNTY JEAN looks to have found a nice race. She was placed in a C3 1000 down the straight two starts back behind Givemenonereason and these 46+ races are probably her go. Admittedly she clearly has a liking for 1000m straight racing and hasn’t set the world on fire at Narrogin previously but this is a pretty thin line-up and she’s one of the main players. BAYZEL likes Narrogin and second-up for the Ryan Hill yard could well look to lead if she jumps cleanly. SECRET LAIR is drawn wide but he’s been very competitive over the last 5 months. WORK HOME FONT finds this easier than recent C1 company. Numbers: 3 – 10 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – AUNTY JEAN WIN RACE 5 REQUISITION charged home in a 58+ at Geraldton last start to finish third behind Oristano and Under Influence. This is another drop in grade, 1100m is about his ideal distance (1000 sometimes too sharp at this stage of his career and 1200m seems to see him out). Drawn well, placed well, should go well. OUR GIRL BORAM has returned a different horse this time in. First-up she won a maiden handicap over 1100m when backed from $16 into $10 and showed it was no fluke when backing it up to win again in a 46+ same track/distance when working with 59kg and proving too strong late. That race was run 5L faster than average and Rockaria was accordingly plunged at Albany on Sunday. BOURBON BEAU was better last start. ZAC LUVS TO FLY is jump and run. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – REQUISTION WIN RACE 6 SOUND THE CHARGE and INTERSTATE are both last start winners, however, they’ve both got some serious weight to carry. SOUND THE CHARGE rises up to 62kg after winning his maiden at Narrogin last start and INTERSTATE attacks this off an 8 week freshen and has 60kg even after the claim for Ava Catarino. Really open race where almost any of them could win without surprising. FLOAT OUR BOAT and HIGHBOY went toe to toe down the straight over 1900 two starts back and there was very little between them. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – SOUND THE CHARGE WIN RACE 7 MISSALFIE is not as well credentialled at Narrogin as she is at York but she’s so well proven at this grade. She’s already amazingly a 4x winner in this 52+ grade. Her last win was a 52+ 1920 and she was a c61 rater at that stage, she’s now back down to a c59 and hasn’t been horrible in between. Should be about ready to show her best here. COMEALILBITCLOSER comes out of C3 and C5 races at Bunbury and Pinjarra. This is a significant drop in class for him and he’s always given the indication he would stay. Big danger. ZACKARIAH BEAU showed something last start. BLAISZEN CAZAH won a 46+ 1900 at Narrogin two back. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – MISSALFIE WIN Market Market
