Scott Embry’s Thursday Mount Barker Preview Posted on December 31, 2019December 31, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 SPICULUS has been trialed really well for his debut. Ran second to seasoned galloper Cana Lily in a Mt Barker trial beating home first-up maiden winner Regal Rebelle and then trailed impressively at Albany. Should run a big race. BLANKENBERGE has only had the one run for Brock Lewthwaite and it was strong only beaten 1.5L. Hard to beat with metro and provincial form. TWO COOL is a speed demon. Jump and run 1000m race suits her. CITY CENTRE trialed well enough to win fresh. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – SPICULUS WIN Race 2 SOWAR was well thought of first-up last preparation in a 3yo maiden at Belmont. Beaten 3.5 and never really looked comfortable. The second race outing jumps off the page. Third to Adelaide Ace and Lyle’s Choice. That is super form for a Mt Barker maiden. Trialed well and looks the winner. KESHENA ran a nice race at Narrogin and Kyra Yuill is flying in the saddle. AYASHA has put together two solid runs and draws perfectly. REDWOOD RANSOM next best but only going moderately since resuming. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – SOWAR WIN Race 3 MISS MARIETTA was caught three deep the trip first-up when strongly supported in the market. Sauvegarde has since made the form look even better and this is a suitable race for her. OVERTRHONE is honest and consistent and will become a nice little bread and butter horse. BANJO MAN has been knocking on the door all campaign and is well placed here. MYGIRLFRANKIE has been recording strong late sections and building toward a win. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – MISS MARIETTA WIN Race 4 NORSKE CODE trialed against the big boys at Albany: My Greek Boy, Captivated Point, Hostwin Pegasus and Deangles. She lead and was very impressive when holding them out late. Looks to have the necessary speed to come across and at her WA debut looks hard to beat. REQUISTION has some really strong metro form from when last in work, including a 1.5L fourth to Beautiful Mind. Keep safe. WILLOW RIVER is racing consistently. DANEHILL STORM could sneak under the radar. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – NORSKE CODE WIN Race 5 WAR KSAR was sectionally the most impressive run of his preparation last time out when hitting the line full of running behind Ionyx at 1500. Stepping out to a staying trip for the first time in the campaign, he looks ready to win. CLASSIC JACK rarely runs a bad race and he had War Ksar’s measure last start. Draws well and is the logical danger. GLEN ALBYN won well last start and no reason he can’t continue that form here. MR PAGO next best but drawn poorly. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – WAR KSAR WIN Race 6 PROXY gets back out toward his pet distance range. This race lacks a deal of early speed and Jordy Turner should be able to find the top and control the race. From there he’s hard to run down. PATCHIRAC, MASS EFFECT and HYPERSPACE all come from the same race at Bunbury behind Midnight Banquet which was a real grind and hard run mile. All three have legitimate winning claims. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – PROXY WIN Race 7 SIR SNUGALOT is in really good form at the minute and from the draw should be in the first few in running. Natasha Faithfull rides Barker particularly well, the horse enjoys the circuit and Steve Wolfe is going very well. ARRUM BOY has been teasing punters for years. He has the ability to win but if there is any bad luck to be found, he’ll find it. LUKE’S GOLD has shades on and McNaught on. Don’t discount. CANDLELIGHT STAR never impossible, even with the weight. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 13 – 1 Suggested Bet – SIR SNUGALOT WIN Race 8 SAX ON QUE is going through the grades very impressively. Drawn awkwardly and 1000m may be on the sharp side but hard not to be taken with the continual improvement and turn of foot. HOSTWIN PEGASUS has contested higher rated races than this at his last 10 since winning a 58+. COPPER FURY is extremely well placed. 1000m horse who runs for McNaught. LADY STINGRAY is speedy and either attempts to hold Copper Fury or takes the box seat run and waits for her to lay out in the straight as she does almost every outing. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – SAX ON QUE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3 1,2,3,4,10 3,7 1,2,3,4 Market Market
