Scott Embry’s Thursday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on September 29, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 HINCHINMOSE trailed well on two occasions at Lark Hill before putting in a powerful finishing burst at York in a maiden. Normally a query on the strength of York form lines but Devil’s Dust won well last Saturday at Belmont and with even luck Hinchinmose would have beaten him home. Draws the inside gate, Peter Hall jumps on and should get every opportunity to open his account. NO STOPPING ME NOW was well supported last start and nothing went right in the run. Worth following up and comes from the same York maiden as Hinchinmose. PLAYING FOR KEEPS is no star but might be able to find the top here in a race without a natural leader. ULTIMATE DESIRE should be a nice pickup for Teagan Klun but likely looking for further. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – HINCHINMOSE WIN RACE 2 AURAE put the writing on the wall three starts ago behind Arabian’s Girl and Dawn Enigma and again two starts ago when flashing home behind Snipntuck when held up on both occasions. Last start went around a well-supported $2.30 favourite and nothing went right for Madi Derrick in the run when caught three deep throughout and only fading in the last 100m. Senior rider on, drawn a gate, should be winning. DANTORIO has improved at every outing for Freddo Brown and looked home for all money last start when ambling past them at the 250. TRUE ORA is getting closer and gets some weight relief with the claim. PROCEEDS OF CRIME is knocking on the door but lacks a turn of acceleration. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – AURAE WIN RACE 3 MAGIC WILL REIGN is having his fourteenth run of the preparation since resuming at Pinjarra on April 5th. Since joining MR Peter Fernie at Kalgoorlie hasn’t finished worse than fourth beaten 1.25L and is a model of consistency. Looks to be screaming out for 1760 and based off his last effort should be right in the finish here. Mitch Pateman sticks with him and we’ll do likewise. STAADEN looked a moral last start and duly saluted with his eyes closed. This is tougher opposition but he nearly rolls straight to the top. Clearly takes running down. BLACK COMET has a big riding change with CJP riding winners for fun the last few months. TOM ALMIGHTY can improve at this trip. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – MAGIC WILL REGIN WIN RACE 4 WOCKNWOLL was an impressive winner (deadheat) in the Goldrush back in August and then last start missed the kick and was never competitive at any stage, eased out to be beaten over 12L. Mitch Pateman jumps aboard and on the fresh side, back to 1100m she can sit back and come with one late run. Looks an open race and a winnable race for her. GET OVER IT hasn’t won a race since Mr Vadim won a Hannans but his last two have been eye catching. Gets in with only 55.5kg and with the 48 hours Adam Durrant looks like having on paper between Geraldton and Kalgoorlie why couldn’t he break his drought. BADGE OF COURAGE cops the grandstand but his metro form is super. GESSATO comes back to Kalgoorlie and gets in with a postage stamp weight. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – WOCKNWOLL WIN RACE 5 ZIEBELL has likely been targeted at a race like this for a while. Astute placement by LK Fernie and with the claim for Keshaw Dhurun gets in with 60kg, less weight than he carried in a C3 first-up last preparation when only gunned down late by False Statement. The instructions will be simple “ride him like Fair Joy and roll”. He’ll give them all something to run down. DEVINE BEAST has been a great pick-up for Cambana Lodge and she’ll be the one stalking the speed and coming home hard late. HERRON SAND draws a tough gate but the mare was back to her best last start. MOONLIGHTS REWARD hard to catch but can improve. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – ZIEBELL WIN RACE 6 LEADING MAN was backed off the map last start when drawn in no man’s land in what looked a tricky race on paper. Did a good job to get within 3L of the winner and his previous effort behind Puli and Noble Reflection reads up well. Pateman on, drawn a better gate, he looks to have found a suitable assignment. TRAMIKA doesn’t seem to have a turn of speed so expecting that they may look to lead this. Rock-hard fit and the Thomas boys (and father and grandfather) will be cheering him home like he’s Tudor Son. NOD AVENIR didn’t fire a shot first-up but the senior going on helps a lot. MISS ABBY a handy mare who snuck under the radar. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – LEADING MAN WIN RACE 7 MASSIMO looks the winner of the traditional annual Hannans Handicap. This has been spruiked as a match race between the Durrant pair for a long time and now that final acceptances are out that’s exactly how it looks on paper too. MASSIMO gets in with 59kg, draws to sit right over the top of the speed and should simply prove too powerful and too classy. Finished in the top two at 9 of his last 10 and only bad luck sees him miss here. Weighted perfectly, drawn perfectly and looks poised to add a third Listed race to his ever-growing CV. MONEY MATTERS is no slouch, stakes winner at 1400 and 1600m and backs up off 5 days. Looks the biggest (and only) danger to the stablemate. PYMS ROYALE flies the flag for the locals but has had well documented feet trouble recently. YEAH DARDY is going super but will need everything to go his way. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – MASSIMO WIN RACE 8 ABSOLUTE has hit a little bit of form coming into the carnival. Run two starts ago behind highly progressive stablemate in Manhattan Money was super and then last start was a solid effort and a better run than it will read on paper. Pateman is a big day rider and he’ll put Absolute into a position. In an eachway field he’s a genuine chance. CAPE SOUNION is a bit of a forgotten horse but has found a new lease on life and Jade McNaught on is an added bonus. GREAT CHARADE won well last start and this is a similar race. BUMPER HUMPER takes on the older horses and she can slide across from the draw. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet – ABSOLUTE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,9 1,3,6 1,2 1,3,5,7,8,9,11,12 Market Market
