Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on January 15, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 DEE TRUMP backs up off 7 days and showed a bit last start. The tongue tie goes on here and he doesn’t meet much opposition. Gets his chance. HEMINGWAYS is a former East Coaster who has speed to burn if they want from the outside gate. Stable is white hot and jockey even more so. PUB BRAWL was not the worst trial in the world and could give cheek on debut. FASCINATION will find this easier than provincial assignments. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – DEE TRUMP WIN Race 2 SCINTILLATING comes up to Geraldton for Neville Parnham and the adopted son Ryan Hill goes aboard. He looked like breaking through for a provincial maiden win so up to Gero should be very hard to hold out. BOSSANOVA BABE steps up in trip after being beaten for speed over the shorter course. FETCH MORE AMMO was a big drifter first-up and may have needed the run. Some trials have shown ability. DAMASCUS STEEL was slow away last week and worked home ok. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – SCINTILLATING WIN Race 3 DASHING IMAGE is shooting for 3 straight and Troy Turner has been crowned the Mayor of Geraldton in recent weeks. Going at 37% at Gero last 180 days is incredible and this looks yet another winner. COOL DYNAMITE has been disappointing so far this campaign in the provincials. This is a weaker race for her. THERE AT FIVE can bob up from time to time and draws soft. SOUTHERN SON will be winning one soon the way he is going. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – DASHING IMAGE WIN Race 4 ROCK MYLADY has run four minor placings since joining Tony Scally without winning. The key here could be the engagement of that man, T.Turner. If he can’t get him across the line off 7 days nobody will. HECADANES CHOICE put in an eye catcher only two starts ago, drops back in trip but Ryan Hill sticks. POWERCRAFT was a really good run over the staying trip, he is going well. JUENDIS is not a Geraldton horse but could lead without challenge. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – ROCK MYLADY WIN Race 5 AKIKO is always hard to beat on her home ground. Ever since joining Sarah Childs she has been right on the edge of metro class but not quite good enough. Plenty more 70+ wins for her in Geraldton however. BARAKI BEATS has his name right up there in contention for Geraldton horse of the year. Stable has done a wonderful job with him and he is the one to beat. TRADE TALK freshened up and back in trip is a big danger to the pair. HALLDORA smashed the clock last start. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – AKIKO WIN Race 6 MASTER SPLINTER has been a revelation of recent months. Charging through the grades he has been beaten twice at C5 level but backs up off 7 days, draws a nice alley and was huge in defeat last start in a sectionally brilliant race. TRADEMARK is never far from the action and looks the testing material in the field. MAGIC MERIT gets back and runs on late. CALAMARI SAFARI needs to lead to win and doesn’t look like crossing. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – MASTER SPLINTER WIN Race 7 SPORTING IMAGE has found his race. Three runs in the region for 3 minor placings and now the senior rider goes on and should fire across from a wide gate to sit right over the speed. KWIKON THE TRIGGER is hard to catch but Barry Newnham can get the firing fresh. SILVER CLOUD THREE won well in a weak maiden but finds a soft C2. ROYAL PLANET has put in two below par performances so far this prep, improver. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – SPORTING IMAGE WIN Race 8 DANEHILL MATILDA is awkwardly placed in terms of ratings points. Not quite racing well enough for 70+ but then Tony Scally has to choose between an apprentice or a big weight. Hill on is a positive move but needs luck from the gate. HANDYMAN could be the blow out if McNaught can find the front. GOLDEN ACRES rarely runs a bad race and is always there abouts. NATURAL LUCK is out of form but this is a weak race. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – DANEHILL MATILDA WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,4 1,2 1,2,5,8 1,5,6 Market Market
