Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on February 17, 2021February 17, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FIREBRACE gets one more go with the blinkers going on for the first time. Was a great effort behind Abbou and Stella Fair two starts back and then was pretty plain last start but this is another even thinner field than that. Drawn awkwardly but can race on and off pace. Another chance. MONTIBLU travels up for David Harrison (and likely stays) but can definitely break through. Form behind Pure Devotion and Lincoln’s Law reads up brilliantly for this. WINGSONMYFEET will keep battling away. GIN N SWANIC was only fair last start but senior rider on. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – FIREBRACE WIN RACE 2 OUT OF FASHION has really put the writing on the wall here. The most recent effort when only beaten in the shadows of the post by Savage One is the obvious form reference for this race and with even luck should be breaking through. MACHALI comes from alternate form having her WA debut. All of her recent maiden ratings are good enough to be winning fresh. ATIA can be forgiven for the debut effort down the straight. ROBYN’S SON resumed well and only peaked on the run late. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – OUT OF FASHION WIN RACE 3 STRONG HEART now has to lump 62kg but the way he ambled up to them last start says he is well on his way toward the 2021 Geraldton Cup. Concedes 3.5kg to Proxy (but he loses Laqdar Ramoly) and 1.5kg to Galaxy Blaze (but he was given every chance last start leading 15L slower than average to the 600) and meets Wild Memories on level weights. Should get the job done again. WILD MEMORIES is going well and starting to build into a stayer. PROXY and GALAXY BLAZE can both battle away on pace. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – STRONG HEART WIN RACE 4 THEWAYIWALK burst onto the scene with an impressive Geraldton maiden victory on debut and then ran a solid third behind Jevelation and Snippilicious at her second outing in a C1. Went to town last start and finished midfield behind talented 3 year old Hot Zed and then provincial bread and butter types Miss Quoted and Mystic Love. Drawn the inside, should be strong enough to win this. TIME STARTS NOW is drawn to get a much better run in transit and coming back in trip might just be a positive. No star and has weight to carry but super consistent. BUSH ICON returns to racing and if she can cross them gives some real cheek. CINNAMON RUN seems to go for Victoria Corver. Keep safe. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – THEWAYIWALK WIN RACE 5 GINGER WILLIE has been a frustrating horse to follow this preparation. Impossible to knock his efforts but always finding a few better than him and now caught in between C1 and 58+ company with his awkward rating. Three second placings to Invictus Domini and most recently a narrow 4th in a 58+. Back to C1, Madi Derrick’s claim. Could today be the day? XAARMERIT can be forgiven for the last start effort. Prior few were all really good. FOXHOOD steps to 1400m and from the draw should do no work in the run. MISSILE MILLY can box seat and gets every chance. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 9Suggested Bet – GINGER WILLIE WIN RACE 6 KENYLUCK looks very well suited in this race. Last start was a huge query at 1400m and ran himself into the ground (first 800 – 9L faster than average) and then was really found wanting late in the race. Drops back to 1200m, draws an inside gate, leads on his ear and is awfully hard to run down when he rolls at 1200m. Clear forgive his last two, prior to that was in white hot form and going round as an even money pop in this grade. JUPITER RISING is bursting to win a race. Have backed him and sooked the last two. Guess who is getting me again. HOT STYLE was better last start. Needs things to go his way but this is a thin race. BIG SHOT PADDY is better known over further. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – KENYLUCK WIN RACE 7 JEVELATION was plunged last start in a bizarre betting move for a horse who was drawn on the Golf Course and never looked like getting any sort of winning map. This time around drops back to 1100, drawn to settle right over the top of the speed and gets every hope. If you backed Jevelation last start you follow up here and if you didn’t you likely jump on the bandwagon. ADMIRAL HUSSON hasn’t been seen for 50 days but is going super and Holly Watson is the perfect rider for him. STARTRADE should be winning races in this company after being competitive in the provincial area. SHEKY RED is going super. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – JEVELATION WIN RACE 8 ARABIAN RICHES simply got gassed last start when left in the breeze outside a ridiculously strong tempo. Drops from a 70+ run 5L faster than average back into a 58+, drawn a gate, senior rider on. He’ll get a much softer run in transit here and is more than capable of bouncing back. SUMMIT TRIAL has been building into the preparation and looks ready. HONORFIC is drawn horribly but the last start effort was a ripper. DASHING IMAGE gets it soft from the inside draw and is worth forgiving. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 4 – 1Suggested Bet – ARABIAN RICHES WIN RACE 9 MIDNIGHT ROCKET looks the horse capable of turning the tables on Paris Report. Gets a 1.5kg weight swing and was very stiff not to finish closer. Looked to be bolting when held up turning for home and didn’t get out until it was too late. Value of the two runners. PARIS REPORT looked very well-placed last start in this grade and got the job done in style. See no reason why she can’t reproduce the dose and from the draw, she can have the leaders in her sights. Only going to be a question of price. BITOVEMU is always there abouts and should get in from the draw. ALL THE JULZ is kept on the fresh side and comes back in trip. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 7 – 8Suggested Bet – MIDNIGHT ROCKET WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 52,3,61,3,4,5,7,8,92,3 Market Market
