Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on February 18, 2020February 19, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 AWAY WE GO was bitterly disappointing last start when given every chance by Joey Azzopardi and being beaten into a soft third. Troy Turner goes aboard and he gets one last chance. SWAY BAY has trialed well enough for his debut. 5 year old so a few obvious queries but looked to have enough ability to win one in Geraldton. SYRIANOS is knocking on the door and draws to get every chance. GLITCH INTHESYSTEM was climbing all over them last start. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – AWAY WE GO WIN Race 2 ROBYN’S SON is a 15 start maiden but racing particularly well. Should be able to break through soon as these maidens drop off in quality later in the season. OUQBA TED is a 19 start maiden who has always shown glimpses of ability. Finished off well last start. LAMBEK has been running reasonable late sections. Draws a better gate here. RAG ‘N’ BONEMAN makes his race day debut and you can be sure that Troy Turner was offered plenty of other rides and chooses this one. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 11 Suggested Bet – ROBYN’S SON WIN Race 3 SUMMIT TRAIL won a 64+ only two starts ago and then stepped to the 1800 last time out when running fifth to Wee Ripper. Gets a weight swing on that galloper and can turn the tables. MISS ZEDEL won like a horse who would be winning a C2 before the end of the season and draws a plumb gate. WEE RIPPER won well last start and Madi Derrick obviously has horses running for her. WILD MEMORIES is a bit wayward in the straight but can finish powerfully. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – SUMMIT TRAIL WIN Race 4 ANGRY ANNIE is winning with a leg in the air at the minute. From the gate you can expect her to be three or four deep the trip but from what we have seen there is nothing wrong with her being planted deep. Madi Derrick’s 3kg claim keeps her at a winnable weight. SILVER CLOUD THREE would makes things interesting if Kristy Bennett rode him like she did at Ascot when eye balling Catherine Wheel and holding on for third. KENYLUCK is going very well and again draws an ideal gate. INVINCIBLE WARRIOR has his first start for a new yard. Has ability but issues. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – ANGRY ANNIE WIN Race 5 RECOILED is another one who could well end up three deep the trip from the wide gate with the 3kg claimer. He can miss away but then musters hard. 56.5kg after the claim for a horse who was only beaten half a length in the Batavia Sprint. Even sitting three deep he is hard to beat. CALABRIA JOE has the world of ability but can be a real handful behind the gates. BAY PUBLISHER is better than what he showed fresh. JUPITER RISING has just peaked a bit in form from earlier in the season. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – RECOILED WIN Race 6 I AM THE SHERIFF has a myriad of gear changes thrown at him and drops from 1800 and 1900 back to a mile. From the draw should roll forward in a race without a deal of speed and gets his chance. STRONG HEART caught the eye first-up and no doubt the mile suits him far better than 1200. He can get ever them from last even with the weight. THE CROWN PRINCE draws a gate and can improve sharply. CHARGED FLAME broke through last start but draws terribly. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – I AM THE SHERIFF EACHWAY Race 7 RED EPIC gets another chance to break through for a deserved win. Looked the winner the entire race last start after finally drawing a gate. His last five have all been good enough to win this and back to 1200 looks in his favour. BITOVEMU draws a little sticky but ran very well behind Marlize which has been the best form reference of late. RUFUS can be hard to catch but from three back the fence can shoot into the minor money. WILDONBROOK went well fresh but the gate hurts. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 11 – 1 Suggested Bet – RED EPIC WIN Race 8 CAN HE HUSSEL is on the fresh side and back from a 70+ into a 58+. Kyra Yuill has been a profitable commodity for punters for months and months and from the gate he’ll get every chance. Already a winner in this grade and maps perfectly. VITAL BLAST draws a little sticky but 52.5kg after the claim makes him a winning possibility. SOUTHERN SON ran well fresh. Better suited second-up. FULLY STOKED is a forgotten horse. Getting closer. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – CAN HE HUSSEL WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,4 1,3,4,5 2,6 2,6,7,10 Market Market
