Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on January 7, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 BURN ONE DOWN heads up to Geraldton after three starts in the provincial area. Fought on strongly when ridden for speed out of the machine behind Call Again beating home Ava Express who has some ability. Joey Azzopardi is riding particularly well and should give backers a great sight. STABLE GENIUS is another with provincial maiden form heading up to the Mid West. Going well enough. TAP THE KEG never got into the race last start but ran the best final sections. DERULES is improving with racing. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – BURN ONE DOWN WIN Race 2 LEAD GUITAR has only had two career outings. Fifth on debut in a race that contained Saturday winner Holy Ghost and last start never got warm in a race dominated from the front. Shades on, weaker company, looks hard to toss. MISS ZEDEL trialed very impressively for Sarah Childs team when nosed out by Royal Statue (winner of 4 from 9 and m75 rater). Can run a race on debut but will need luck from the sticky draw. BREEAQUA continues to tease and looks like breaking through soon. ECHO STAR can give cheek. Numbers: 12 – 11 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – LEAD GUITAR WIN Race 3 DASHING IMAGE took a few starts this campaign to get to full fitness but the last start win was strong and it looks as though the 1400 will be right up his alley this campaign. Drawn the inside gate to do no work he’ll take beating again. THREESUN has her fair share of ability when right and can give this a shake first-up. FIELD OF VISION will find this a far more suitable assignment than recent runs. CAN HE HUSSEL deserves a crack at this grade. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – DASHING IMAGE WIN Race 4 PORTRAIT LAO finished fourth last start in a 7-+ behind Dashing Image, Quality Fair and Recoiled. Any of those gallopers would be deep in the red here. She drops in grade, has blinkers added and draws a gate. The big query is the 1200m. KLONDIKE KENNY has a big turn of foot on his day. Drawn soft he is worth keeping safe. REIDY could not have been more impressive last start when flooding home late. RUN FOR MONEY drops in grade after being thrown in the deep end last start. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – PORTRAIT LAO WIN Race 5 STARTTHEFRIAR looks well placed into a Geraldton Class 5 on what could be a big day for visiting metro rider Joseph Azzopardi. The win three starts back was impressive and since then hasn’t been suited. WOODMANS KEEEP drops in distance from a staying trip back to a mile. Form has been consistently good all campaign. SUMMIT TRIAL has gone very cold but her best is good enough. CATALYST FIRE will be a big price but hasn’t had much luck of recent times. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 10 – 5 Suggested Bet – STARTTHEFRIAR WIN Race 6 TRILLIONAIRE ran last at his most recent but that was in a tougher race than this. Does get back in his races but can stay and there are many in this race who are a query at the trip. THE LAST BREEZE never got into the race first-up when ridden from off the speed. If Kirby can get out of the gates cleanly and find an on speed position then he is right in the mix. OSIPOVA has found form and always promised to win a few races. ZIP YOUR LIPS was far from disgraced in a 60+ Saturday race at his most recent. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – TRILLIONAIRE WIN Race 7 MIDNIGHT ROCKET was left floundering three and four deep the trip no cover last start with 61kg and really did a good job to finish as close as he did. Draws middle of the line again but Peter Knuckey rides him well and this looks a great race for him with just an ounce of luck. KENYLUCK has hit form and beat home Midnight Rocket last time they met. 2kg swing and a wide alley makes it interesting. LOOKUSOVER is knocking on the door and draws well. FAIR EUGENIE has been hitting the line hard since behind ridden cold. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 11 – 10 Suggested Bet – MIDNIGHT ROCKET WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,7,8,9 1,3,4,5,10 1,3,5,6 2,3,11 Market Market
