Scott Embry’s Thursday Carnarvon Preview Posted on June 1, 2021June 1, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 REDWOOD RANSOM is a 27 start maiden (doesn’t fill with confidence) but his last two have been two his better runs in his career. Drawn out deep to stay out of trouble and kept coming last start. Looked to have all those in the beaten brigade covered and should go close to breaking through. MYSTICAL MAN is the X-Factor and unknown. Was well supported in the market on debut. Blinkers on, first start in the region = market watch. HAIL CAESAR hard to catch but has shown glimpses. NERO CHIN CHIN has promised to win a race for seasons. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – REDWOOD RANSOM WIN RACE 2 KLONDIKE KENNY was 42 days between runs last start and travelled up nicely in behind horses. Had to wait until the home straight for gaps to open and then darted back to the inside once the race was all over. Gets another go here. SALAMAAT is proven in much stronger races than this. Did run second to a flying Madrid Centro last preparation in Carnarvon. LOOKING GREAT made a sustained run out wide last start. Was entitled to be beaten as far as he was after all the work he did. DASH FOR KNUCKERS is going well. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – KLONDIKE KENNY WIN RACE 3 WOODBUG has put the writing on the wall at two runs back. Ran a close second to Tumut River first-up and then was pulling ground off Behrooz late when running past handy country type La Chiave in the straight. Provided he doesn’t get shuffled back along the fence he should be going close. MOMENTS OF MAGIC is a new comer to the region and is blisteringly quick. If Michelle Hagley lets her run it’s game on. WORZEL looks like picking up a 1000m scamper this preparation. Eligible for easier – definite follow horse. DENGA can be forgiven for last start. Numbers: 5 – 10 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – WOODBUG WIN RACE 4 NOBEL IMAGE ran well last start behind Casual Trade and Portrait Lao. That looks like the best form reference in the race with both Nat Burke’s horses coming from that race. Not sure who holds #1 rider Faithfull or Hagley but both should go close in this. NOBEL IMAGE is drawn soft and can stalk the speed. Gets her chance. JENABEL is always there abouts, just needs to navigate a tricky draw. AL CAPITANO is a new comer for travelling trainer Jon Jachmann. If leading gives a sight. ILLMATIC hit form at the end of the Geraldton season. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – NOBEL IMAGE WIN RACE 5 MADRID CENTRO returns to Carnarvon where he was all conquering at the start of last season. First start in Carnarvon he won by 15.75L, second start by 8.45, third start by 1.5L and then by 0.62 in a great illustration of horses coming back to the handicap. After those 4 starts was a c76 rater and is now back down to a c70. If he is ready to go, he’ll run a big race. CASUAL TRADE is trending in the right direction and with Jett Stanley’s claim has no weight. ANNIHILATOR is the kind of horse who could win by 5 or be beaten 50. Huge unknown. STARTHEFRIAR is a backmarker, will need to keep improving throughout. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – MADRID CENTRO WIN RACE 6 MORDOR vs SHIVERS OF JOY is an intriguing contest, especially with such a big pull in the weights to Shivers. Siding with MORDOR who could not have been any more impressive at two runs in. First-up dominated them in a lowly C1, second-up kept coming when doing it tough throughout. Looks suited at 1400 and provided he gets across will make a race of it. SHIVERS OF JOY is clearly the one to beat and with the pull in the weights will be very hard to get past if finding the front. BANDALERA MISS is drawn poorly but can stay out of trouble. THROTTLE a watch at his first start in Carnarvon. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 11 – 5 Suggested Bet – MORDOR WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 4,5,10 1,2,4,5,7 5,6,8,9,10 1,10 Market Market
