Scott Embry’s Thursday Bunbury Preview Posted on February 12, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 FAIR SASSY showed speed on debut down the 1000m straight. Drawn gate 1 she can lead them up and then all leaders over the short course at Bunbury are extremely hard to run down. SMINKY SHORTS is bred in the purple and will have plenty of admirers after a big trial win. JADE REEF bolted in at a recent Bunbury trial and Pike jumps aboard. EMBASSY SQUARE is a big awkward horse with plenty of ability but may need a bit further. Numbers: 10 – 11 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – FAIR SASSY WIN Race 2 PRINCESS PIERRO deserves to break through. Her run two starts ago was big in defeat behind Without Reason and beating home subsequent winner in Wee Ripper. She gets her chance here with senior rider going on. WOTZ THE CHANCE ran a ripping race out of her grade last start when leading. MACKENZIE BROOKE ran well on debut but looks like needing all of a mile. MR STICKLER could be an improver at odds. Numbers: 11 – 8 – 14 – 6 Suggested Bet – PRINCESS PIERRO WIN Race 3 NICKLAUS gets one last chance here dropping from a mile back to 1400m. He does a lot wrong and is his own worst enemy but last start was taken on a long way from home by the horse who had a saddle slip. DARK CHOICE is bred to get this trip and beyond and looked to finish off trials strongly. BRILETTA FIVE was no chance first-up from the gate, think she can improve sharply here. UTGARD LOKI trialed well enough to run a race on debut. Numbers: 3 – 13 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – NICKLAUS WIN Race 4 FRED DAG is really well placed here to score third up into the preparation. Ran well over 1200 first-up finishing off strongly in a slowly run race and then was thrown into the deep end in the Breeders Classic. Back in class here and back in trip he looks the one. MASSA MAC is always an eachway chance in this type of grade. CAMPAIGN ran in all the 3 year old features when arriving in WA. Looking for further. TOUCHED is rarely far from the action. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – FRED DAG WIN Race 5 STORMY RULER looks to have found a nice race and looks suited dropping back in trip. Has been far from disgraced against stronger opposition than this his last couple. DOUBLE THE PRO went well first-up and lumps a big weight but should get the run of the race from the draw. MURRAY THE BULLDOG is improving with each run and draws soft. RED HOT FLIRT was backed off the map fresh and is better than what she showed. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – STORMY RULER WIN Race 6 DIABLERIE ran some eye catching races last preparation in exclusively Saturday grade races. Gets back to Bunbury and back in grade, he could bounce back to his best without surprising. DE ANDES is a hard horse to catch but he backs up off 5 days, drops in grade and get back to his home track. If they let the old grey cross and find the fence he’ll take some catching. CUANZO put the writing on the wall with a big finish last start. FRIAR’S GIFT is always there abouts. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – DIABLERIE WIN Race 7 HOODLUM THUNDER is near on impossible to catch. He does a lot wrong in his races and looked gone for all money at the 800 last start but kept coming. That could prove a strong form reference on Wednesday. HIGH ENERGY looks like picking up a C1 staying race pretty soon. TEST OF STRENGTH ran through the line well and will wind up late. TORTINA is honest as they come but lacks a killer blow. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – HOODLUM THUNDER WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 4 1,6 1,4,8 2,3 Market Market
