Scott Embry’s Thursday Bunbury Preview Posted on August 13, 2024August 13, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GI GI POPS went around popular on debut and finished second behind Another Love. Ended up being crossed, sitting leaders back and taking the cutaway. Got over-racing through the middle stages and looks a big filly who is better suited with galloping room. Expect her to take big improvement first-up to second-up and looks very hard to beat. Like the horse. ASTRO WORLD trialled well at Lark Hill behind Charino who goes to a 1000m straight race at Pinjarra on Wednesday. SHOOT TO FAME has plenty of race experience and has shown enough. VENUS KING is the stablemate who was scratched last week to save for this. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – GI GI POPS WIN RACE 2 WEST MASSIV was annihilated in betting last week at Belmont Park. He just couldn’t hold his spot at a crucial stage and raced like he needed 1600m+. Back out in distance, on the quick back-up and Brad Parnham sticks. Like this set up for him. COULDHAVEBEEN was luckless first-up. Got held up behind tiring horses and looked to have plenty under the hood before flashing late once clear. Danger. ANTIQUE STAR ambled up to them last start but didn’t look to really trust her footing in the Heavy surface. Going super. FOXY RASCAL has run very well in two of his three races this prep. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 10 – 5 Suggested Bet – WEST MASSIV WIN RACE 3 DEMETRIOUS went around 100-1 in a Kalgoorlie maiden on debut but defied that price-tag to run well behind a relatively talented type in Don’t Wait For Luck. This is a very messy looking race and wouldn’t be surprised to see a rough result thrown up. Don’t dismiss. CORRECT CHOICE split King’s Call and Extreme Love in a 1500m maiden at Pinjarra back in January and if he can return to somewhere near that level this looks a winnable race for him, even from the wide draw. GALILEA looked all at sea on the Heavy a fortnight ago. Forgive and forget. EVERLASTING SPIRIT has had a freshen and ran well in her first two outings. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 11 – 13 Suggested Bet – DEMETRIOUS EACHWAY RACE 4 HELLS CITI should get every opportunity here. Split Prospector’s Pick and King’s Artillery three back and then finished second to subsequent C3 winner Soso Lucky last start, beatig home key rival Marybee in the process. MARYBEE was well supported in that event. She’s not far from a maiden win. CAPABLE ANGEL is speedy and can hold a prominent spot from her inside draw. Going well. TOP OF THE WALK finished third behind Joker’s Grin and Cessation in a 3 year old 1000 on a Saturday. He’s got ability, but only has about a 150m sprint on him. Numbers: 2 – 11 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – HELLS CITI WIN RACE 5 KING’S SICARIO isn’t the easiest horse to catch but if he can reproduce the run that say him finish second to My Hidden Universe or the run last start that saw him flash home behind Kiralui then dropping 1.5kg he’ll be right in the mix here. EXTREME LOVE suffered her first defeat fof the campaign last start, she can bounce back. CLOSE AT HAND has a set of shades added to his gear and drops back down 3kg with Chanel Cooper returning to the saddle. BUSTERS FREE was hammered in betting at his first start for Mitch Pateman. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – KING’S SICARIO WIN RACE 6 LOMBADINA should be just about ready third-up from a spell. First-up she finished third behind Dirty Chai and Kraken Time and then went around near favourite last start when looming large on straightening before blowing out late. Was her first run on a rain affected track – forgive, and if King’s Sicario came out and ran well in Race 5 then the form will stand out. ROMMEO rises up 5.5kg coming back into a C1, however, love the booking of Shaun O’Donnell and some of the recent replay runs have been enormous. TRESPASSING was back to somewhere near his best last start. MORE LIKELY ran a cheeky fresh. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet – LOMBADINA WIN RACE 7 ATLANTIS BEACH is not an easy horse to follow but Cliff Green throws a set of blinkers back on and brings him into a C5, the lowest graded affair he has seen in his last 17 outings dating back to May 2022. If they can make ground then he can win in what looks a very open and even contest. TIGER LINE got the job done last start after putting in an eyecatcher behind Little Silver and King’s Salute. He can go on with it now. BUCKEYE BULLET has put in two rippers recently and maps to get every chance. ADVANCED is versatile and has been in good consistent form all throughout the winters months. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – ATLANTIS BEACH EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,10,11 2,3,6 1,4,9 1,2,3,5,6,9 Market Market
