Scott Embry’s Thursday Ascot Preview Posted on December 26, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 COMIC HERO was sent out favourite on debut in a 3 year old 0MWLY when finishing third behind Berbere and Too Dardy in what turned out a hot form reference race. Broke his maiden by 2L at $1.40 (beating Little Strawberry) and then went to three consecutive Saturday races when far from disgraced. Recent trial solid, barrier ideal and strikes a thin C1 to start his preparation. Nice race for him to kick off a winner. ART OF CONSENT has returned in good order. Last Wednesday she was only gunned down in the shadows by King’s Parade after doing all the work in running. Logical danger. DUO MUSO broke through in a weak maiden at Geraldton. TWIGGER can bounce out and lead. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – COMIC HERO WIN RACE 2 FASHION STAKES loomed the winner on straightening last week but couldn’t quite reel them in. She’s on the 8 day back-up and looks better suited over 1500m. This looks like it’s going to turn into a tactical affair and Chris Parnham has options from the gate, especially with a versatile mare underneath him. Going to bank on him making the right decision forward or back in the early stages. HOBA WEST parked out deep throughout last start in a maiden and romped in. Big maiden win but rises 2kg and won’t have the room to move this time around. CHARMING BELLE was a good return behind Nobel Knight and that race has already produced a winner through Dash of Brandy. DELTA ANNE next best. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – FASHION STAKES WIN RACE 3 SONOFTHEBOSS drops out of a 3 year old Saturday behind Final Siren back into a maidweeker. Great use of the Brayden Gaerth claim and finds a race where he can use the inside rail to his advantage and look to kick hard into the corner and try to skip away from his opposition. Probably hoped to see King Cartel/Snippy Which go a bit better on Saturday in the Leading Taddy race but it’s still nice placement. ANGEL UNDERCOVER and CAMERA ACTION have both been trialling up well for Team Casey. They both look to have their fair share of natural ability. ZENIQUE showed glimpses as a 2 year old. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – SONOFTHEBOSS WIN RACE 4 DENNIS CHOUX was a big winner at his WA debut own the 1000m straight. Always hard to line-up the straight track form against races around the bend and he does come up in grade from a C1 into a C3 but he was really impressive when bursting clear and running right through the line (he’s miles in front of them past the post). Going to trust the eye and follow him into this event. CAVALLO RED has been trialling really well. Took him a while to break through last preparation but he’s got some genuine ability. Barrier 1 may not be as good as it looks on paper in a muddlingly run race. FIRST MISSILE is a talent but hasn’t raced for over 600 days. Good to see him back at the races. SUPPORTIVE should be ready third-up. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – DENNIS CHOUX WIN RACE 5 WOLFMAN looks to have found his race. Finished off well into third first-up behind Rockin’ The Casbah and Hot Puddin, got a mile back and rattled home into fourth second-up behind Thehorseman and then matched it with them at C1 level (with 59kg) when third behind New Music and The Rush. Back to a maiden, dropping 1kg and getting out to 1800m all look to be in his favour. RIP IT SIDEWAYS and LAST RIVAL are stablemates and both ran handy enough races last start for a thin maiden like this over 1800. Keep safe. ILGIRO DELMONDO is yet to reproduce her 2 year old form around Rope Them In, Paris Calling, Keshi Boom and Cool Memory. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – WOLFMAN WIN RACE 6 ROCH LEGACY has been a bit of a tease over his career but in his five starts for Justine Erkelens he has run a few races good enough to be highly competitive here. Three starts ago he charged late behind Long Weekend, two starts ago he was a luckless fifth behind Desennae, Demolish and Megami and then last start he never got into the race from a mile off them in a near capacity line-up. Going well enough and might just get conditions to suit Wednesday. BELGRANO BELLE is a winner out to 2100m and a proven weight carrier (2x winner 58.5 and winner 59). Great placement. MATERIAL WITNESS is an unknown out to 1800 but will march them along. SKETTA wasn’t bad last start at odds. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 11 Suggested Bet – ROCH LEGACY WIN RACE 7 DUN WITH THE BLUES went around in an ATA Stakes last start and finished 3L off horses like Queen Alina, Black Fantasy, Blazing Away, Diamond Scene and Neufbosc who will all head to the Perth Cup. She finished second in a 66+ only three starts back and now finds herself in a 54+. From the draw she should have no excuses and looks classy for this grade of racing. OCEAN AURA will need to get herself off the fence at some stage. Always shown staying ability and got the job done impressively last start. HOIST THE COLOURS battled on bravely in a fast run race on Saturday. Off 5 days. Keep safe. BIG SWOOP always a chance if he gets across. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – DUN WITH THE BLUES WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,6 1 1,2,5,7,11 1,2,3 Market Market
