Scott Embry’s Thursday Albany Preview Posted on March 3, 2021March 4, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ZEEWIJK backs up off 6 days from the meeting at Mt Barker last Friday. Gets out to 1600m, gets some weight relief with Snaggers Sardelic’s 3kg claim and in a race which looks SJ Wolfe vs Roy Rogers we might see the Wolfe Man peg one back. Looks to get the right run and was finishing off well enough last week. REBEL MAN looks one paced and will need every inch of the mile. Slowly but surely improving. DANTORIO has flashed glimpses in her short career to date. ANGEL OF JUSTICE was a big improver second-up. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – ZEEWIJK WIN RACE 2 CLASSIC JACK takes on a near identical line-up to last week when impressive at Mt Barker. Naturally concedes all rivals weight from that win but he was only third-up into the preparation and should only be getting better and better. Hard to toss. LOSING TICKET is the only horse who brings alternate form to the race. Drawn to get the right run and has been in form all preparation. WESTERN KING may be better suited back at Albany. SCREAM IN BLUE was strong last week. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – CLASSIC JACK WIN RACE 3 STRATHMORE ROSE was backed as if unbeatable last start. Plunged into $1.70 which saw talented filly Alpha and Omega balloon out to a near unthinkable price. Was a case of #theydon’tknow but considering the things she did wrong in the race and the position she ended up in running you can be forgiving. This looks an easier assignment than last start and with the senior rider goes on is an easy on top selection. IBIZA is in super form. Jumps, runs and takes real running down the way she’s going. MY BLUEBOY loves to chase hot tempos and gets that condition. IMPRUDENT brings intriguing form. Looks to have ability. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – STRATHMORE ROSE WIN RACE 4 CAPTAIN SHARMANE has only had three starts in her career. Luckless on debut when held up on multiple occasions in the home straight, second career start finished fifth behind talented trio Captain Burglar, Indigo Blue and Excerpt and then finished within two lengths of Differentiator, Fish Hook and Island Charm. Definitely good enough race form to be winning this. VRUM ran into the strongest maiden line-up of the season at his most recent when third behind Dark Assault and Ginger Green. MY NAMES STAR tries hard but needs everything to go her way. IRANAWAY wasn’t a bad trial. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – CAPTAIN SHARMANE WIN RACE 5 WAR CLASS has been bouncing between the Great Southern and Metro areas for his entire career. First-up winner in this grade and then ran placings behind Oxbridge, Sauvegarde, Big Bada Boom and Chasing Chaos. All those horses would be very hard to beat in this line up. Most recently went to town and settled in an impossible position in running in a race dominated on speed. CHASING CHAOS is a wonderful old campaigner who is perfectly suited to racing in this grade. CENSURE is a talented mare on her day and looks well weighted in this field considering her overall race form. ATHOLONE CASTLE is up in trip but drawn to get a soft run. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – WAR CLASS WIN RACE 6 SMART FASCINATOR didn’t fire a shot in the Ladies Bracelet but drops back into C2 company here. Previous effort was strong when beating home subsequent winner Real Passion. Looks like getting the right run over the speed and can even roll to the top and control the tempo. Worth forgiving for last start. FEELS HOT is on the back-up after being rolled at Barker. Hard to assess the run after being swamped at the top of the straight before fighting back. CHOOSE TO CRUISE is drawn to get every favour in the run and has shown ability this preparation. CATCHYA CATCHYA some hope of rounding out a #Roy first 4. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – SMART FASCINATOR EACHWAY RACE 7 INFLATION clearly has his issues; 6 weeks between runs and bars on hind. His best is well and truly good enough to win and his recent trial was super when sizzling around Lark Hill in easily the quickest 950m trial of the day. Trusting Darren McAuliffe to have him right because this is a great race for him on paper. ONE SHORT is always a big chance when he can race in this grade. First-up run in town was a ripper. POTENT SECRET is impossible to knock. The 10 year old is still racing at the peak of his powers. SIR SNUGALOT on the back-up can improve sharply. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – INFLATION WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,7,9 3,5,6,7,8 2,4,8 1,3,4,5,8 Market Market
