Scott Embry’s Thursday Albany Preview Posted on May 7, 2025May 7, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GIFT OF THE HEART is in a purple patch of form, however, he’s dictated to by the programming and is now going 1500 back to 1100. Can definitely win but it’s harder. They’ll burn early so he’ll need to stay in touch with them. AVOIDANCE went around a $9 chance first-up behind emerging sprinter Prospector’s Pick. Back to Albany, good use of the Rosie Mahony claim and a tough, on speed, jump and run type. AGENT JAY beat home Avoidance by 2L the last time they met. Respect. BLUE LINE was a shade disappointing last start. Yes he had 61.5kg but he never travelled. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – GIFT OF THE HEART WIN RACE 2 LONG WAIT resumed at Albany when finishing 1.4L off Swindle The Dough. Better suited with an extra 100m, better suited in a set of blinkers and naturally fitter second-up. She’s had 20 cracks at it but it looks like it could be lucky #21 for her. THE LAST GALAH tried hard behind Eternal Romance and now the visors go on. Drawn to get all the favours. BULLS EYE PERFECT has promised to win a maiden all season (and his entire career). He’s just always mixed his form. LORDGIVEMESTRENGTH might have to work hard early to get across. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – LONG WAIT WIN RACE 3 HYPERREAL finished third at Geraldton and then was found wanting at Pinjarra. He’s well suited to these country maidens and from what we’ve seen over – maybe 1000m is his best trip? Love the booking of Tash Faithfull and happy to lean his way. CHILEAN STAR has her first start for Paul Hunter and her 600m trial at Albany was sharp enough to suggest she can run a race fresh. LADY COCO has blinkers on and a claim to bring her weight down to 52.5kg – jump and run? CHASON WINS wasn’t disgraced behind a nice filly down the straight. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – HYPERREAL WIN RACE 4 REAL DELUXE is a Saturday 60+ Graduation filly who is racing in a C2 at Albany. Lumped with 61kg even after the claim is the issue. If it was a 4kg claimer like last start then you’d nearly declare her with 59, but with 61kg you’ll just have that little doubt in the back of the mind that she might paddle late. She’s very speedy and 1000m is her go. BRAVE SHOT finds a new home with Misty Bazeley and has run some cheeky races in 3 year old 0MWLY grade previously. Liked the trial. KAMAKAZI SHOOTER rarely runs a bad race. SHASFA is quick but probably not Real Deluxe quick. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – REAL DELUXE WIN RACE 5 COUSIN IVAN is 0 from 18 at Albany – it’s a huge risk, but his recent runs have been outstanding. His effort behind Macciateau was super, his effort behind Be Bardot was solid and then his chasing effort behind Gift Of The Heart was again really encouraging. He’s screaming out for 1900m and drops back beautifully in grade. Can he break the hoodoo? FAMOUS DAIN was sent around a $2.90 favourite in the Diggers Cup. Was only just warming up late. Big danger. BEAUTIFUL BAROQUE has been a wonderfully consistent mare for seasons. MAGIC MIKEY always thereabouts. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – COUSIN IVAN WIN RACE 6 ALOTTA DANE has raced from 1000m to 1900m this prep. He’s deep into the campaign but he was charging late behind the tiring Vomo Island last start. Looks a nice set up for him from the ideal barrier. CHEROKEE MISS won a race on the back-up by a space at Albany last prep. Should be nearly ready now and a big watch on the market. PRAY FOR LUCY has run second at his last two outings and this looks another great opportunity for him to win one. He’s fit, he’s tough and he rides the speed. SECRET DEPLOY is a tease. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – ALOTTA DANE WIN RACE 7 GOD HAS DRIFTED is a nice type. He ran into a smart one last start in Lost Gravity who had 60+ Grad and C3 metro/provincial form to his name and he lost no admirers into second. Happy to keep following him and expecting this to turn into last man standing with the amount of speed expected to be put into the race. CHERYL’S SHOUT has only 51kg after the claim for Sharni Hall and no doubt she’ll have a licence to let her roll. EX SPORT GIRL is 2 from 2 track/distance and goes super fresh. VONSNIP has bounced between 70+ and 58+ grade for a while. The claim is unusual – they normally carry the weight? Hard to hold out at her best. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – GOD HAS DRIFTED WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3 2,3,5 2,3,4 2,4,6,7,11 Market Market
