Scott Embry’s Thursday Albany Preview Posted on December 12, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LE TROY ran third on debut behind Run Pattie Run and Weapon’s Hot at 100-1 and then last start finished third again at big odds behind Twigger and Blazen Star. At his fourth career run he goes from a provincial maiden to a country maiden, has a set of blinkers applied for the first time and is drawn barrier 1 on a day with a cutaway. Should get his chance. FIGHT IN FLIGHT was beaten 3L first-up but behind Song Storm, Playing Rio and Sosipatra. That form’s handy for this. BEST OF THE GODS trialled well behind The Spruiker. Just awkwardly drawn. BOAB BOY is better than what he displayed first-up. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – LE TROY WIN RACE 2 ROCKIN’ THE SILKS has had a lot of opportunity and has always been thereabouts without showing a real killer instinct. Loomed into many a race without quite finishing off. Was similar to Yes Of Course who arrived with Steve Wolfe last season and all of a sudden found a length or two. Rock hard fit, can run a mile and runs into a maiden with a fair few who are struggling. MAKES THE CUT backs up off 7 days after running fourth over 1240m last week. Raced like he wanted a mile. HANS CHRISTIAN could nearly roll to the top here in a race without much speed. THE HILL TRIBE hasn’t yet reproduced his 2 year old runs. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – ROCKIN’ THE SILKS WIN RACE 3 HOT CHATTER has the white hot Final Siren form against her name. Two starts back she finished only 3.4L off Final Siren who has since gone to town and made a mess of a nice 3 year old field on a Saturday. Last start she lead and won by a length and should get across again into a prominent position. Hard to knock anything coming out of Rebecca Bayliss’ yard at the minute. VONSNIP has blinkers re-attached and from the draw should get every chance. Gets 1.5kg on Hot Chatter for a 1L margin last start. Not much between them. SAFE RAPPA won well last Thursday and seemed to handle the quick back-up. MINE HOST is better than what he showed first-up. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – HOT CHATTER WIN RACE 4 UNIVERSAL PLAYBOY has a 66+ placing to his name at Belmont Park as well as 3x 60+ Graduation placings behind Songaa/Miss Drakova, Final Authority/Little Strawberry and Swim Through/Ponyo. Clearly racing below his best so far this campaign but this is a nice drop in class for him to bounce back. BLUE LINE is really well placed back into a 58+ after proving himself up to 70+ grade last week. Rises 6.5kg but going well again. STAR SOPRANO was a jump and run specialist up at Broome and will look to do the same here. WORK IN PROGRESS was a nice Albany debut. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – UNIVERSAL PLAYBOY WIN RACE 5 OXBRIDGE just continues to raise the bar. On 5 November he lead and won by almost 5L and then was scratched at the 19 November meeting before going into his run last Thursday off a 25 day spacing. Lead and won again by 3.6L. Not only are the margins great but the time is electric. He’s gone 6L and 7L faster than 58+ average at his two runs this preparation. Faster the better for him at the minute. HENRY THE AVIATOR was the biggest run of the season last start. He came from a different postcode on a day where it was nearly impossible to make ground. He is flying. STORM COMMANDER is earning cheque after cheque for the new yard. LACEVINSKY tries hard. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – OXBRIDGE WIN RACE 6 FLY BETTER is not an easy mare to catch (1 from 20 says that) but she’s come back in great order this campaign. Gets 1.5kg on Magnaburma from their last start encounter and was beaten under half a length. The extra 100m should suit and with a cutaway they should fan across the track on straightening. Gets her chance to turn the tables. MAGNABURMA has won two from three this time in and is hard to fault. Paul Hunter’s last 90 days = 15 runners, 5 winners at 33% strike rate and 40% POT. YES OF COURSE is no star but he’ll pinch a C2 in the coming weeks with his on speed race pattern. I DREAMED A DREAM finally put it all together last start. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – FLY BETTER WIN RACE 7 ROCK OF KAHA knows how to win and is in a rich vein of form. Won three in a row in March/April 2023 and showed that once he finds form he tends to hold form. Rises up another 1.5kg to 60.5 but the way he’s going it’s hard to knock him. Finds a similar spot in running and should be going close to winning again. ANNIHILATOR finished second behind him two starts ago and gets considerable weight on him for a 1.25L margin. Just doesn’t seem to win that often. CANDIJAY is another going particularly well and again gets in on the minimum. LOOKS will roll to the top in this but can he run out 1500m? Numbers: 2 – 4 – 10 – 5 Suggested Bet – ROCK OF KAHA WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,4,5 3,6 1,3,5,6,7 2,4,5,7,10 Market Market
