Scott Embry’s Thursday Albany Preview Posted on February 8, 2023February 8, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LOT HO won a pair of 1000m Belmont trials in June 2022 and looked pretty sharp in doing so. Since that period he’s had two more trials in September 2022 and then just the one leading into this debut on 23 January at Lark Hill. This is a thin and weak maiden and when Shaun McGruddy goes to Albany there is a reason. BEAUTIFUL BAROQUE ran third to Cosmopolitan Girl and Planet Cash at his last start. SAFE RAPPA ran into a talented mares on debut and only faded out late. ROSE OF DENMARK should get across. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – LOT HO WIN RACE 2 NAUGHTY GOSSIP looks very hard to beat off the back of a super trial and a big return to racing down the 1000m straight at Pinjarra when only getting out late and flashing home for second behind Cruise To Victory. Down to a country maiden, McGruddy to ride, looks the winner. DODGE ‘EM is speedy. Expecting him to be sent across the face of the field in an attempt to cross and lead. STAR IN TIME chased hard at her first start for the new yard. MON MON is racing well. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – NAUGHTY GOSSIP WIN RACE 3 LET HER BOOGIE was the target of big money last start but the cash was left with the bookies when stable-mate Who By Fire tramped three deep and went straight past her. She gets another chance from the inside draw. Should be in front for a long way. FLIRT ALOT made good late ground at his return to racing behind Ocean Queen and Zaza Rock. GODGIVEMESTRENGTH has a level of ability. Like the booking of Alan Kennedy. ROMMEL’S RETURN is E1. If he gains a start he can run a race. Going better than numerical form suggests. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 3 – 11 Suggested Bet – LET HER BOOGIE WIN RACE 4 BENTLEY BEAU got within a nose of Chad’s Me Dad two starts ago when sustaining a big run. Chad’s Me Dad has since run a placing at Ascot (and races Wednesday at Belmont) and Bentley Beau has run another solid race behind Rebel Man. Knocking on the door. REBEL MAN was nearly knocked over first-up and then got the job done second-up. Has come back bigger and better and is now showing a turn of foot. Can definitely go back to back. LE GRAND RISQUE gets out to a more suitable trip. KUTSANYA can be hit and miss. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – BENTLEY BEAU WIN RACE 5 LET’S DEAL is better than what he’s currently displaying. This is a decent drop in grade for him from what he’s been contesting and the way he’s racing it seems that he’s wanting further and further. Feast or famine for the loyal McGruddy following and this is another who gets the nod. Wouldn’t surprise to see him put into the race at some stage either. ARTIE’S COMET broke through for a well deserved win last start. SCREAM IN BLUE is racing consistently. ONE POINT LADY hasn’t had much luck lately. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – LET’S DEAL WIN RACE 6 LOKI won a C5 first beating impressive subsequent winner Cable Boy. He then was drawn in the carpark and beaten out of sight second up. Seems like fresh is best for him and he comes into this a month between runs. BLUE LINE showed zero first-up and second-up. Much more himself last start. SIR SNUGALOT is ready to pinch another. GARAGE DAYS comes back to 1100m where he is one from one track distance. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – LOKI EACHWAY RACE 7 THE GREAT ONE has bounced back to some form. Unsighted at his first few starts this preparation but has run third at his last two outings for a 3kg claiming apprentice and is now replaced by the man of the meeting S.McGruddy. This looks very winnable for him and he’s come back down through the ratings points system. Great chance to him to return to winning ways. BRAVE CONTENDER has hit a purple patch of form and parks up over the speed. ROSEBUSH is getting back and running on in her races. Gets another 200m here. MR MT WALKER finished second to Niigata two starts ago. Reproduces that and goes close. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – THE GREAT ONE WIN RACE 8 ROAPOZZENE and GOD’S MOMENT are both impressive last start winners and are both on speed types. Going to side up with GOD’S MOMENT just ahead of Rocapozzene because she’s drawn inside of the filly and carries 1kg less after the claim but realistically there’s not much between them. Both from the same yard so big watch on the late betting activity. FLY BETTER is racing very well for a horse who hasn’t won a race this preparation. Continues to put in eye catching efforts and deserves to break through and win one. ELITE TIME charged home fresh at odds. Reproduces and goes close. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – GOD’S MOMENT WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,4,5 1,2,3,4,6 3,6 3,4,9 Market Market
